15 | 06.12.2024 | Fifth Pillar | 9.0 | The one in which Kawada goes after the damaged eye socket, the ruthless bastard, and then exploits Misawa's disorientation by repeatedly dumping on his dome. It's the perfect set up for a tainted title switch with a built in excuse for Misawa, but no, for whatever reason Baba only ever trusts one man to carry his company, which is a damn shame. Kawada's selling as his aspirations slip through his fingers yet again is supreme ****1/2 |

19 | 04.10.2024 | danzitorock | 9.0 | This match is awesome, a straight up beating, relatively short considering AJPW standards, they went straight to the point since the beginning, with a lot of stiff moves and grudge between the competitors. Kawada had never beaten Misawa 1v1 before, and he still couldn't do it, even considering that he had the majority of offensive here, and truly shined, Misawa managed to get the win at the end. This match happened because Kawada pinned Misawa for the first time just a month before, in a classic pillars tag team, so he received a title shot, but failed to capitalize it here. This was King's Road in essence, the match was simple but effective, the crowd was super hot, and it had a lot of false finishes. The nearfalls were so well worked, that the match ended all of sudden, because the pain they were causing into each other bodies was so high, that anything could end the match, brilliant work - {****1/4} |

The exchanges between them were wonderful, Kawada's Inziguiri were great and I liked all the suplexes they did. The end of the match is very dramatic, Misawa does everything he can to win in the end with his Lariat and Suplex, Kawada throws several kickouts until he can't take it anymore, great match and great story that these two told. |

34 | 26.10.2023 | Luna100 | 9.0 | I really enjoyed this, in fact I preferred it to their match on 03/06/1994. This felt like it had the better psychology, as both applied their knowledge of each other, and also did well to target each other at certain points in the body. The strike game felt more intense, Kawada's kicks looked like they were at their best, and Misawa has one really mean elbow midway through the match. A great match, and is my fave of the watch. ****3/4 |

39 | 25.07.2023 | eenfish69 | 9.0 | Very good match showing the relentless onslaught and desire and will of Kawada against his most hated rival who will overcome it all, with artfully execute throws and strikes by two proficient wrestlers. Certainly not as good as the 94 classic, and the end felt perhaps a tad anticlimactic even if it made sense in the story telling. |

Loved the opening bits with both countering eachother and Kawada blasting Misawa with a gamengiri ( I might have butchered that name lol ). Kawada's selling in this match was insane. He fought so hard in this match and his work on top was fantastic as well. Loved those picture perfect kicks on Misawa's face. Misawa made great comebacks with his elbows and suplexes. Some brilliant movements like both using eachother's signature offense like Kawada's hitting elbows and Misawa using kicks. Desperate Kawada throwed punches to save his ass from Misawa's elbows in two occasions. The whole finishing stretch ruled. Misawa just straight up destroyed Kawada with his suplexes and Kawada's selling was insane as I mentioned earlier. Kawada's soul tried to continue fighting but his body gave up. 9.50/10 |

60 | 24.11.2021 | benny5bellys | 10.0 | An absolute classic. Kawada is at his mean bastard best targeting the previously broken orbital bone of Misawa with vicious kicks and strikes. They really go for it early hitting each other with bombs and I lost count of the head drops. Kawada selling big moves in next level. A small element of AJPW in this period is after a massive move is hit and both guys are down the ref is tapping and pointing basically saying 'mate, he is fucked, crawl over and pin him'. I love it. ***** |

65 | 02.06.2021 | The Beholder | 9.0 | I never thought I'd say this about an AJPW match, but this match felt rushed. They resorted to head dropping early and often sometimes at the expense of psychology. That said, it's still a phenomenal match. Kawada selling a German suplex by trying to get up only to collapse to the outside was brilliant. After all that head dropping, the match surprisingly ends with an elbow. Not near the level of their 6/3/94 masterpiece, but it ranks up with there for next best. ****1/2 |

69 | 26.12.2020 | Makai Club | 9.0 | Excellent match with two terrific performances from both wrestlers. Unfortunately, it's yet another defeat for Toshiaki Kawada despite being at his most violent and purposeful. His careful and brutal assault of the eye of Misawa - something that Misawa always seems to injure - with his strikes and submissions was brilliant and made for a great match. The desire to get the win was very much on display for Kawada. The urgency and determination towards the end when Misawa was launching his counter attack proved that most. The striking was smartly used from both. Misawa's elbows always saved him in tough situations and he went all out with them. Barrage after barrage of rolling elbows. And if that didn't work, Misawa would throw Kawada right on his next via Tiger Suplex. Kawada's sell for the finish was brilliant. A face plant after a big running elbow shot signified right away that Misawa won. ****1/2 |

79 | 24.02.2020 | tykechandler | 9.0 | Goddamn this match is fun. It lacks the brilliant climax you are wanting, but it's very awesome regardless. Kawada basically dominates the first half or so with suplex after suplex (HEAD DROP ALERT! - there are a fuckload in this one [poor Misawa, RIP]) and vicious kicks. Misawa counters with elbow after elbow and some clever counters, and that's basically your formula here. Kawada hits a massive power bomb on the outside early, which is a highlight. Misawa hits numerous tiger suplexes that fail to put Kawada away, and then ends it with one more massive elbow. It's a fitting ending to what they built up, to be sure, but not that epic back-and-forth they offer in other matches. Still a borderline classic, and definitely worth your time! ****1/2. |

87 | 19.01.2019 | taabr2 | 8.0 | I enjoyed Kawada going straight back to the "just repeatedly kick him in the face" strategy since that was the approach that took him the furthest against Misawa so far. Misawa stroked back with an elbow to take over and Kawada was great beating beaten up, his selling is so good you almost feel sympathetic for someone who was such a dick earlier in the match. A LOT of head bumps here but at least they don't go into overkill territory with the kick outs (just yet). Misawa so convincingly beating Kawada feels like a big step back though. **** |

91 | 26.06.2018 | seriousbusiness | 8.0 | Another great match between these two legends, but there was a lack of urgency this time around. Obviously the big moves are always shocking to see, but sometimes they go kind of overboard with them. Kawada's selling was top notch of course. 93 | 28.04.2017 | Changeling45 | 8.0 | Failed to compare to their early match during the final quarter. Didn't like the use of 3 or 4 Tiger Suplex's and didn't like how Kawada over sold them and then no sold their affect on him seconds later. ****1/4 |
94 | 11.01.2017 | NastyYaffa | 10.0 | This is the 2nd best match these two legends had against each other, just behind the 06/03/94 classic obviously. This was a pretty simple match - you got Kawada being a dick to Misawa right from the get go, targeting his face (which Misawa sold brilliantly btw), and that set the tone for the match. It was mostly Kawada brutalizing Misawa with his amazing offense, while showing true desperation in his attempt to put down his biggest rival, Misawa was his usual stoic self, fantastic selling & his comebacks were great - especially that big one towards the end.. Must be one of the best ones I've ever seen. This told a fantastic story of Kawada's desperation to beat Misawa. A classic. ****3/4 |
96 | 08.10.2016 | arrancar | 8.0 | It's always going to be a good match at worst between these two, and this just so happened to be one of the great matches between them. Both men are rather equal throughout the match. They both trade some really nice back and forth sequences to start things off, and then they trade extended periods of dominance over the other. Kawada is absolutely a beast here. When he's dominating Misawa he is absolutely vicious and aggressive in his moves and his acting. He even goes as far as playing a bit of a heel, needlessly pummeling Misawa, illegally choking him, and ignoring the ref's calls for rope breaks. He really looks like he wants to tear Misawa's head off. But even when he's the weaker one he is also a show stealer. His constant stumbles and lack of body control are fantastic at communicating how badly Misawa has damaged him, and the bumps he takes from Misawa's big power moves makes Misawa's offence look crazy powerful. Misawa himself is great too, of course, but I really think Kawada was and has always been the better performer of the two. The finish was rather abrupt and anti-climactic, but it did make sense that Kawada would fall to something as simple as an elbow given that he took so many massive power moves from Misawa previously. Great match. ****1/4 |
97 | 25.03.2016 | RaviC19 | 9.0 | I gave this match **** 1/2. Great match, not quite as good as their famous 1994 match. This one is all about Kawada as he nearly murders Misawa throughout, with the latter taking a few horrendous looking bumps |
98 | 26.12.2015 | Mizzle Assault Ant | 10.0 | I will agree this is not a full blown 5 star match like many others of this era, but it is very damn close and I will still give it a 10. I loved Kawada going after the face of Misawa, it's rare you see that kind of psychology but Kawada worked it perfectly and Misawa sold it brilliantly. Great stuff from two legends, as expected. |
99 | 11.02.2014 | yanus | 8.0 | Good match, with a hot crowd, but at certain points I felt that we saw almost too many big moves. Loved the performance of Kawada. |
