[9.0] "Great match! I didn't really believe it, but they managed to make it so. The whole fight, from start to finish, was measured and all the moves made sense. Tsuruta and Tenryu, being quite large guys, perfectly coped with the role of Davids, surviving and competently fighting off such Goliaths as Brody and Blackwell. The moment when Brody hit Tsuruta with the chain was just incredible, that's when the match got hot and interest was raised to the highest point. A disoriented Jumbo that BEATS is golden. Tenryu's babyface comeback and attacks are the thing that made me fall in love with this match. Genichiro and Jumbo worked well as a team and it brought them the coveted championships. A great tag team match and the start of their championship run (****1/4)."
[5.0] "The (AJPW) NWA International Tag Team Championship has been vacant for several months now, as Baba and Jumbo relinquished it after a Baba arm injury, and two successive title matches between Jumbo/Tenryu and Singh/Ueda ended in no contest and double disqualification, respectively. The fact that Blackwell isn't going to be working full-time for AJPW does give the game away, but on the other hand it's nice to see Jumbo/Tenryu have a chance to win the titles without pulling the trigger and putting them over Hansen/Brody, while still having Brody to overcome. Well, I should rephrase that; it's nice in terms of the top native team having a real shot at this in kayfabe. As a match, though? Well, not so much. There's nothing wrong with Blackwell as a worker at all; he works well on the mat and is a skilled bumper. However, he doesn't bring the best out of Brody the way Hansen does, and so Brody is allowed to wade more into his plodding bad habits. The ingredients here are still good enough for the match not to be a total loss, though, and the finishing run is solid. A Jumbo crossbody to Blackwell finally gets him his first tag belt with someone besides Baba, and Tenryu's first AJPW tag title period. **1/2"
