Johnny B. Badd vs. Masa Saito

[5.0] "Hell yeah! Half G1 bonus feature, half total bullshit, this is a hilarious piece of business. Those pockets of physicality are legitimately enticing, but they're paired with some unsurprising clunkiness along the way. The modest runtime helps though, as does the novelty of such a pairing. **1/2"

[3.0] "Hard to really buy into the whole WCW vs NJPW competition when you have really cheap DQ finishes like this. The match just did not click as it was a clear mesh of styles that didn't really work. Sonny Onoo interferes frequently in this but the DQ was because of a terrible WCW rule where Johnny B. Badd is thrown over the top rope instead."

[4.0] "A sudden, rotten finish to overall not that bad of a match. Saito looked like he was pissed at Mero, so he worked stiff and was kicking out not even at one count, but at least he showed some personality in there. Could have been a little longer though, instead they went for a cheap finish."

[4.0] "Decent match that's too short because it hits the wall that is the "over the top rope" DQ rule. Such a pointless, dated rule, and that it ends this match before it gets into gear is just irritating."

[3.0] "Ono and Saito get bitchy not liking a woman at ringside. Doll tells them to basicallly go fuck themselves. Saito controls most of the match, then Badd rallies getting a sunset flip off the top rope for 2 but Saito ends up tossing Badd over the top rope and gets DQd to even things up. I HATE that shitty rule!"

[4.0] "Saito had wrestled in the US since the 60s, as well as in Japan, and looked every one of his 53 years here. Badd comes out with Diamond Doll Kimberly, who cuts a terrible promo before the match. This is not much of a match, as Saito clearly isn't going to bump, so they just spend a few minutes hitting each other before someone remembers that the over the top rope DQ rule is in play, and Badd wins because of it. There's just about enough to keep the interest for 6 minutes, but this is another match that didn't really need to happen."

[3.0] "These two just don't work well together, simple as. Johnny B. Badd is pretty good, but he just simply doesn't mesh well with Saito."

[4.0] "A match that was showing signs of promise following a slow initial build, with Badd hitting a beautiful diving sunset flip. Mero always shone in long hauls but regrettably this did not have the chance to get there after a DQ via the antiquated over-the-top-rope rule that was jarringly out of line with WCW from around this time onwards. I enjoyed the strikefest towards the beginning but this wasn't great."

[4.0] "I like both of these guys but this whole WCW vs. New Japan thing just didn't seem to click that well, it was hard to invest in the matches. Neither guy does bad by any stretch but I just wasn't excited by this one."
