[2.0] "Sting and Hall was the match that the crowd was invested in, but of course this heatless feud had to main event anyway. Savage didn't fully turn face, so fans didn't want to cheer him and as a result they didn't make any noise and got alive only when Randy climbed the cage out of nowhere. They worked slowly, you could barely see anything through the cage and the finish was just another, stupid swerve, that was way overbooked and they didn't even time it right, so the show just ended suddenly. Awful stuff with Hogan slowly declining as a heel, because he never knew when to step down at least for a little while."

[4.0] "The beginnings of this inner NWO Civil War story that was meant to carry WCW through the rest of the year. This is a big deal as every Hogan vs Savage match is, and with the cage being around the ring, that added even more stakes. And as a match goes, the ideas were solid. Savage was game for taking bumps, selling wonderfully and dishing out big bombs. Hogan, however, lacked that midas touch that he usually has. I don't think he suited the cage gimmick in this cowardly hellish role. He needed to be a bit more of a brute and he felt a little light. Too light for this match. But I did think Savage put in a good performance. The crowd responded to him very well. It's not a surprise that WCW would put the title on him at Spring Stampede which leads me to the horrible finish and angle that truly gives this match its reputation. The match is thrown out (a cage match is supposed to prevent that) when the Disciple attacks the refs and enters the cage. Savage looks to be trapped and out numbered when Sting repels from the ceiling to rescue Savage. There is an awkwardly long standoff between the four, before Savage shockingly turns on Sting. We are first to believe that he's in cahoots with Hogan but thankfully, Savage makes a point to spit at Hogan and tells him that he doesn't like him. Savage is indeed a tweener. He is a lone wolf, aiming for the title but he won't let that affect his issues with Hogan. Bad match despite Savage's best efforts. It wasn't to be for him. **"

I won't give it a zero, because we at least got the blood and the Axe Handle Smash off the top from Savage, but aside from that this was a lame way to close the show"

[2.0] "Started off unusually good for a Hogan match, mainly because he couldn't bail to the outside easily. Hogan gets in most of the offence, but Savage does later come back, including doing another of his insane Ax Handles from the top of the Cage, that's just...nuts. Eventually they both easily escape the Cage to do nothing in particular whilst hardcam is now an empty Cage. Ed Leslie runs in to help Hogan, because of course he does. Sting then repels from the ceiling to stand with Savage for awkward and agonising moments, until he turns on Sting and leaves everyone in a mass of confusion, and then the PPV ends in a mass of confusion, just...wow."

[7.0] "This was actually a pretty good cage match prior to the non-finish. Good grudge match feel where both guys maimed each other to the point of bleeding, which was pretty rare to see in WCW at the time. Shame about the non-finish angle with Sting (I'm so tired of his involvement in the NWO storyline at this point, as it keeps ruining matches). In any event, a somewhat underrated match, especially if you're a fan of bloody brawls."

[3.0] "The show is called Uncesored, you have a cage match, and it ends in a no contest? ! This a typical Lazy Hogan Vs Injured Randy Savage match that they had on a few occasions in 1998 and they were all mediocre with garbage overbooked finishes. Brutus Beefcake re debuts as the Disciple and a LOT of people had no idea it was Ed Leslie because of the beard and how jacked he was! Disciple takes out the ref, as the overbooking kicks in and Sting drops in and stands with Savage as all 4 guys stare at each other and then Savage drops Sting like a chump and gives him a pile driver. That's your world champion everybody. Hogan and Savage jaw to close the show. Match was bordering in the mediocre range then the non finish just tanked it."

Savage is far past the time when he could do the fancy work that made his name, Hogan was awful as expected, and for the second time this show we had an "uncensored" match end without a finish. A cage match with an interference finish is dumb at the best of times, and this was far from the best of times for either wrestler. Plus, this came AFTER the world title match, presumably due to Hogan's ego. Awful, and a shame for Savage's legacy."

Sure they're both old and in the twilight years of their respective careers, but they could still put on a solid showing when they got to go one-on-one like this. For some reason Beefcake interferes as Savage is about to jump from the top of the cage, and then they send Sting from the rafters only for Savage to deck him? It feels like WCW are just trying to force this storyline to continue, and people want it to end. The crowd went completely silent when Savage backstabbed Sting."

[2.0] "This actually had potential to be ok but an incredibly dumb finish ruined it. Brutus Beefcake gets involved, which is always horrible, Sting tries to help Savage but Savage beats him up for some reason, and there is literally no finish because... ? Dumb."
