The chono's Jeep entrance was cooling but onita's entrance was an art of itself, despite being the babyface, he got the heel treatment by the fans and he just accepted it by sitting on the steel chair he bought on the entrance ramp, lighting a cigarette and ignoring all the garbage fans were throwing. This is the most gangster type entrance and neither aew nor WWE can top it or imitate it. And the match was a fine affair with psychology of the wrestlers well done due to the barbed wire placed on the ropes and the draw tho disappointing was understandable thing to do. As onita was not only the hottest guy in the industry scene that time, he was also a diet member in the Japanese parliament so losing him might be troublesome for his and the NJPW's image |

It's poorly executed, but the intention was enough for me to like it. |

The fans HATED him to a point where you see them throwing, food, bottles, discarded wrappers and other trash as he sits on the chair he brings out with him and lights his damn cigarette. One of if not the most badass entrances of all time. Riki Choshu was retired and Onita wanted him to come out of retirement to face him but Choshu wanted Onita to prove his worth and face other top talent from other companies first. So who better than Chono? This was not a bloodbath nor a 5-star classic. It was everything you'd expect from a 1999 outing but in a rare instance when NJPW has a full on FMW Deathmatch in the Tokyo Dome is unheard of. These two not only entered with badass entrances, the over-the-top selling, camera cuts, and excitement from the crowd really push this match to be where it is and really fits the time Japanese Wrestling was in back in 1999. It's a fantastic spectacle and I'd recommend watching this at least once, and/or showing other who would be interested in this match. |

The match itself is not a big thing tho, either the end. Lot of storytelling and tension around not geting through the ropes and some crazy moments, like the ugly cut on Onita's arm. These two have incredible charisma and the match feels so tense, ramping up and then ultimately exploding when Onita chucks a chair at the barbwire. From then on it's a goddamned brawl. Incredible entrances, too. Nothing like the sight of Onita getting pelted with garbage while walking alone and smoking that cigarette. |
