Would it have been better as a straight tag team match? Of course. But considering the limitations, this match probably SHOULD have been a lot worse than it is."

In that context it actually works extremely well as they look good whilst Jannetty commits to bumping all over for them and it's a well booked fast-paced opener. Another couple of minutes and it could have been surprisingly brilliant."

Power and glory have not been successful as a team, but at 90's SummerSlam, thanks to the efforts of the Rockers (especially Marty, who selled like crazy) they looked like real big stars. A very entertaining start of the PPV, 6 points."

Jannetty is forced to fight both men solo and gets some crazy air on his high spots. You would think he was the future breakout star by how he's presented here. There's a few awkward moments here, such as the referee clearly seeing the manager interference spots and an ugly looking small package attempt, but the match generated enough excitement from the crowd and I'm able to overlook these shortcomings. Perhaps aided by the frantic commentary of a hyped up Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper, this was a high energy way to kick off the PPV."

It was essentially a handicap match after Power & Glory took Shawn out, but Marty had a valiant performance and the match didn't outstay its welcome. Good for what it was."

[7.0] "Better match than it gets credit for. This is a short match, and essentially a handicap match, but the story being told is engaging. Power and Glory go after Shawn's knee before the match starts, reaggravating an injury. For the rest of the match, Marty is left to valiantly attempt to defeat both Roma and Hercules in a handicap tag match. Shawn desperately tried to climb to ringside to help his partner throughout the match, but each time he gets stymied by Power or Glory. I found myself feeling sorry for Shawn, admiring Marty, and despising their villainous opponents. So yes, this match is short and unconventional for a tag team bout, but the story is so well executed, and each wrestler plays their parts so well, that it elevates this match. Worth the watch."

The Rockers were a really good team and didn't have many bad matches together. A fun opening match for a relatively mediocre show; thankfully there's a better match later so this show doesn't peak right away."

You're telling me Koko B Ware or someone like that couldn't have filled in for him? Instead, we pretty much get a handicap match, and for what it is, it's actually a pretty decent match. The match starts hot and stays pretty quick paced the entire time. Despite it being a handicap match, it actually gets Herc and Roma over pretty strong. They had very good chemistry as a tag team, and the superplex/splash finish actually looked marvelous. I think this match was about as good as it could have been given the limitations to it. I just think there was some other way to have made this work other than sending Shawn out there hurt."

Thankfully Hercules is back to being heel so he can flourish again."

Interesting note: Shane Douglas would fill in for Shawn and team with Jannetty on the house show scene for a short time as the "Third Rocker". Basiaclly a glorified handicap match after Herc hits Shawn in the knee during his entrance and POG just mug Jannetty for 6 minutes. Power And Glory was a great team with a great look and a cool finisher. 2 former baby faces who had nowhere else to go but down, especially Roma who has been a full blown jobber since the Stallions split and Herc's baby face run fizzled out. They started teaming together as a jobber team and Roma got mad at the Rockers for daring check on his well being after he lost a match one night and then Herc got involved and a brawl ensued. Roma and Herc basically became bitter baby faces. Wasn't much of a match with Jannetty trying to carry his team and getting destroyed. Not the best opener but it set up their feud that would go on for about 10 months."

[5.0] "Decent opener with some good heat thanks to Michaels' injury at ringside, but nothing special. It was essentially a handicap match against Jannetty. Simple formula that worked - Jannetty got worked over, made a comeback attempt but ultimately the opponents' numbers advantage were enough to catch him. Power & Glory's finisher was absolutely beautiful, by the way! Okay match."

Rather than a standard, predictable match, Hercules takes out Michaels knee badly before he can even get in the ring, and he spends the whole match trying to get back into the action but getting cut off with a knee attack every time. Jannetty has to wrestle basically by himself and he has an awesome underdog performance but ultimately Power and Glory are able to totally blow out the higher profile team, really unique stuff that I liked a lot, very well executed."

[5.0] "Decent opener, not anything particularly special though. A big part of that was that Michaels had a knee injury, so couldn't really get involved much. It explains Power and Glory's win here as well since there was a legit reason why The Rockers had to lose this one, I don't think I'd have put them over The Rockers otherwise. They looked fine enough though and the victory did help establish them in the tag team division."

[6.0] "This was a solid tag match but It was essentially a handicap match with Michaels not active at all due to a legit knee injury that Michaels had. Dominant win by the heels because they had a lot of potential as a heel team and this was a way to give them a big win on a major show. The Rockers were more established at this point, so it was a big thing for Power & Glory to beat them. **3/4"
