I think Shinya Hashimoto did well for himself as NWA Champion, as he was obviously a big name from New Japan who could go. They had a nice back and forth until the finish. I have no idea what the storyline was, but some guy basically forced the referee to count fast for Severn near the end of the match and to count slow whenever Hashimoto when for a pin attempt. So basically Hashimoto got screwed out of the NWA title. I have no idea who the man in the suit even is. I will say this though. If the NWA had kept Hashimoto as the champion for 3 more months, we could have gotten Shinya Hashimoto wrestling for TNA. Even if it would have been brief, how awesome would that have been. Now I'm fantasy booking Shinya Hashimoto vs AJ Styles and I'm sad that we never got to see that. Match itself was fine for what it was. **3/4"

No one could have made the title matter in the late 90s-early 2000s but him. This match, despite being a little too gimmicky for my taste, shows how much this belt meant to him."
