802.10.2024uselessdollthing4.0Decent story behind this match. Two of the best ROH champions in a sort of weird David vs Goliath match. Danielson plays the cowardly heel who constantly works on the legs of Joe and willing to go to any lengths to do so, such as smashing them with a chair. Mat-wise however I was not a fan of it as I thought I would be. This match goes for awhile however alot of it feels rather slow and dull at times, although this is sometimes nulled by the rather hot crowd for both of these guys. It's not around the minutes or so of the match where it gets decent, but at that point I lost interest in the match.

1513.03.2024cibar127.0Really god technical encouter. Classic Danielson match from early 00s, mostly good to great technical stuff but little bit slow with a lot of rest holds. Both Joe and Bryan had better matches from that period of time. Still stellar fight with nice drama counters and holds by two of the greatest ROH wrestlers. ****

3502.05.2022Geo939.0Not quite as good as the Joe vs Punk time limit draws, but this was still pretty awesome. It got a little sluggish towards the middle when Danielson was working over the leg of Joe, but everything else (especially the last 5 - 10 minutes) was out of this world. Danielson was an awesome heel as always and Joe's insensity is off the charts. To be honest, this is just as I expected but you expect greatness with these two.

3829.12.2021WrestlingForever2410.0The consistent struggle against the thorough elaboration of details and the complete absence of any pathos is magnificent. The performers have very good chemistry and understanding in the ring and every their action was logical and performed with maximum dedication. The match itself was held at a consistently slow pace, but this only played into their hands, allowing the viewer to fully every element of the match meaningful. *****

4121.03.2021Mizzle Assault Ant10.0I liked this very slightly less than their 2004 match basically because in that match they achieved the same level of greatness in 40 minutes instead of 60 minutes, but this is still an amazing match, still a legit 5 stars in my book. Just incredible stuff from two of the best in the world at this time, maybe two of the best ever.

5205.09.2016TrevPuroFan9.0This was awesome. They started the match off feeling eachother out. After that Joe's leg became the story of the match, Bryan kept working Joe's leg to avoid the strikes Joe bring. The intensity in the final 15 minutes is insane as both guys try to put eachother away desperately and avoid a time limit draw.
5312.07.2016Jobbs9.0Only two men in Samoa Joe's career were able to have great 60 minutes matches with him and that was CM Punk & Bryan Danielson. This match with Danielson was just fantastic and while it did feel a bit dull at times I found it very enjoyable. Danielson worked the injured left leg of Joe really well and Joe sold it well to his credit. A good story was told here and I was for sure entertained for all 60 minutes and the final 5-10 minutes were a lot of fun and have tremendous crowd energy. (****1/4)
5416.02.2016NastyYaffa9.0An absolute epic 60-minute draw between the two aces of ROH. While not as good as their Midnight Express Reunion classic that happened during Joe's title reign, the match was still GREAT. It was indeed a 60-minute draw, as I mentioned, so it was quite a ride. There were some pretty dull moments, which is understandable, because once again, it was 60 minutes long, but overall Dragon & Joe kept me entertained for most of the match. The drama in the last 10 minutes or so especially was great. ****1/4

5602.09.2014eldenaaaaa9.0These two are just on an entirely different level than most wrestlers today so it’s no surprise that they could keep a sixty minute draw compelling. Joe’s strikes versus Danielson’s leg work was excellent in the early part of the match. The match going long made sense because Danielson was frustrated at not being able to get a good string of offense going and thus spent a lot of time regrouping. It lost a little steam after the first fifteen minutes at which point it stopped feeling like each guy was giving it his all and it became obvious that the match was going to go long. The match got back on track after the chop block and the final stretch was filled with great touches like Danielson using tactics that worked against other opponents (the roll up counter to the crab against Strong and the corner counter to the Cow Killer from the well known signature move against Shelley). Joe breaking out the new offense, like the second rope knee was great as well. It wasn’t the classic draw that Joe had with Punk, but it also wasn’t the kind of draw that Punk had with Daniels where it felt like the match could have ended at many times. This never felt like it should end but it also didn’t feel like either guy was really fighting their heart out for the first 45 minutes, which doesn’t make sense considering how badly Joe supposedly wanted the belt. With all his experience keeping the belt from Punk by letting the clock run out he should have been doing more to keep that from happening to him. The final 15 minutes were out of this world and worth checking out on its own merits.
5712.10.2013Eddie10.0Was macht das Match Dragon-Joe für mich sogar besser als Punk-Joe? Zwei Sachen. Die letzten 20 Minuten sind off the charts, 10 Punkte.
