218.02.2026SebasDiaz0.0Well It looked like what you can expect of Hogan on this time, always trying to make him look strong, specially that this was also another propaganda with 2 American heroes Hogan and ultimate Warrior, vs the Sgt. Slaughter and company, with a match that was slow, didn't connect, and with the same moves as always, 0/10 [DUD]

906.10.2025Smi-484.0The temporary death sentence for Hellwig's reputation is also a predictable bummer in the ring. No one needs such a hazy sub-count match as a follow-up to an expired war story. It's sufficient in terms of action, since the crowd at MSG is really gracious today, but seriously, it's really not much good.

1208.08.2025Der Galische Krieger5.026/8/91 Summerslam WWF. Not a bad match, 5-man handicap tag made it a lot more palatable. Slaughter in essence carried this match as far as he could and the short stints from Warrior and Hogan stopped it getting too goofy. Sid Justice did well but I'm scratching my head why he was a special guest referee which didn't directly impact the match in any way apart from the fast count that wasn't even a focus. 5*

1522.07.2025Erdrick2.0Despite the attempt by the WWF to exploit the Iraq War for cheap heat, the crowd didn't much care about this match as the faux Iraqi military officers and quisling Sgt. Slaughter got their final comeuppance. The action certainly wasn't going to get them engaged, as the portly Slaughter was the youngest member of his team and the babyfaces - no matter how popular - weren't known for their technical prowess.
1618.07.2025Gravelord1.0Easily one of the worst SummerSlam main events. While it isn't all-time terrible, it is still pretty damn awful. The work is as lethargic as it gets, and even the crowd seems more mooted than you would usually expect for a big Golden Age main event featuring the company's two biggest babyfaces. While they did pop for Hogan and Warrior's hot tags and big moves, there was little investment in what happened between them. And I can't say I blame the crowd. This was as phoned in a performance as I have seen, and I've seen a lot of Hogan matches from this era and others. Despite only going twelve minutes, it felt longer due to how boring everything was. The Iraqi sympathizer angle was bad at inception, but it was downright stale by this point. Totally out of date, and not really drawing much heat at all resulting in heatless sections that saw the Triangle of Terror working over the babyfaces to little reaction. Only the stuff with Sid as the special guest referee succeeded in providing some drama. It's not hard to understand why WWF's business was beginning to sag at this point when you watch a match like this main event one of their biggest shows. The energy and enthusiasm that was present at prior SummerSlam main events no matter how average the ring work had dissipated by this point. Granted, one of the guys in the match--Warrior--was on the verge of being suspended and the steroid scandal had just began to break in the press, but my word you can tell things are getting worse just by watching this and comparing it to prior SummerSlam main events, especially in the crowd reaction they elicit. Overall, an egregiously dull bout and one of worst main events in SummerSlam history. 1/2*

2215.04.2025Red Mage Riot2.0It's...about what you'd expect from all the parties involved. Hogan, unbelievably, tries his best, and Sid's an entertaining little variable in things, but this match never really amounts to much.

3018.11.2024benh23.0Much less of a burden than a straight up singles match between Hogan and Slaughter, but Hulk is by far the best worker in this match, which tells you how good it's capable of being. The feud is completely dead at this point so there's no magic in the air either, so it's incredibly boring stuff with the usual plodding work and heel gimmicks. Warrior literally chased the heels off and kept running straight out of the company.
3125.10.2024Pineapple5.0Fairly standard Hogan affair, I don't quite understand the especially harsh reception. Unlike the Slaughter vs Hogan Main Event from Wrestlemania 7, this doesn't drag, partly due to the much shorter length, but also because there's lots more going on as a result of being a multi-man match. Not great, but by no means bad.

3404.09.2024SpecialAgentCooper4.0Pretty obviously the worst match of the night, which is never a good sign as a main event. Even the boring IRS/Hammer match was slightly better, because their finish was clever. The writing on this thing was silly from beginning to end. The powder? Eyerolling hard here. No one liked this whole "Hogan and 'Murica vs. the Middle East" crap going on for months, and a handicap tag match should never be the main event of anything, besides maybe a weekly TV show. At the same time, I'm not going to give the thing a 1 out of 10 like it was a squash match or like it ended with a double DQ or something. We got a clean finish here, by the right team... and hey, they "almost" made this match intriguing with Sid Justice's angle. Close, but no cigar.

3617.08.2024CMFunk0073.0The worst main event in SummerSlam history and Warrior's last match in the WWF for a while as he was fired immediately following the event. Col. Mustafa, the Iron Sheik, can barely move at this point, so watching him wrestle was painful. Sid comes back out to pose with Hogan after the match as The Warrior ran out of the arena after being fired.

5116.03.2024KingsCrossing1.0What can be said that hasn't been already? This is just horrible. The heel team is old and borderline immobile (it really can't be overstated how bad they look here), and the face team and general match structure is tired and uninteresting by this point. I suppose the match is at least functional from a story point of view and does on some level succeed at setting up a future angle between Sid and Hogan, so I can begrudgingly give it a point for not being a total failure on every level, but the actual wrestling on display here is rotten. Definitely the worst main event in SummerSlam history.

5326.02.2024Olympus194.0Yes, the booking for this match is a mess, and yes the Hogan/Slaughter feud was played out. But the real story here is Sid Justice in his debut with a decidedly tweener role, neither aligning with face or heel but sticking to his view of justice. Sid asserts his authority throughout the match and looks like a star despite being in the ring with two of the company's biggest stars. The action aside from Sid almost seems like filler at times, but there are some fun moments when Warrior and Hulk work together. This is not a match to watch for workrate, but it is effective at the story being told, and Sid is awesome throughout, so if you're watching this event, there is no reason to skip this match. Just don't expect a technical masterpiece.
5423.12.2023Rjepic12.0I did not enjoy this main event. This was really boring. Sid reffing this match is interesting at first and quickly becomes kinda annoying. Hogan and Warrior teaming is never something I need to see. This is the night Warrior held Vince up and Vince gave him money to get him to do the match and then fired him when he came back. Oh btw, the Triangle of Terror fucking sucks. Slaughter really did try in his heel run but the booking sucked.
5517.12.2023lukerocker90.0I Though Warrior/Slaugther at the rumble was underrated. I thought Slaugther/Hogan was a bad match but not the worst. This on the other hand even at double speed is incredibly slow and dull. There's not a single good thing in the ring. Sid as the referee is maybe the only decent part but not enough to make me give this even one point. Doesn't surprise me the Wedding was the real main event

5916.09.2023JacquesRougeauCanHaveMyWife3.0Probably the most heatless Hogan match up to this point. No one cared about this match as the buildup was trash and the fight itself was what everyone was expecting from Hogan at this point. The only thing that I enjoyed here was Sid's refereeing, because even though he made some mistakes (not counting Adnan's biting) he was physical and felt like he had the authority there.

6521.02.2023SoundwaveAU4.0It was fine. Not much drama or suspense between the two teams, but they keep teasing Sid having conflict with the face team, which of course doesn't pay off. Still, for the main event match it isn't too long and no worker gets any chance to really shit it up. They keep things moving at least. Not a good match, but also not horrible.

6801.11.2022JokerDeSilva2.0What is there to really say about this match? Your cast of players - Hulk Hogan past his peak as an act (at least before his NWO resurgence) and fully in the swing of bland, repetitive Hulkamania match layouts; Ultimate Warrior, failed as a top guy and always a terribly worker; a returned Iron Sheik, who wasn't good when he was champion and is now about 8 years past that prime; Adnan, who is perhaps in spite of that list the worst guy in this match; and Sgt. Slaughter, the best in-ring performer by far and that's not saying much at this stage, especially miscast as an anti-American heel in a heatless Iraqi sympathizer angle that is already six months out of date. So, yeah. It's terrible. It's an angle they never should have done, that should have wrapped at Wrestlemania when it was already starting to be too late past its sell by date, and now is just getting worse and worse. But it's a Hulkamania main event, and the crowd is absolutely ravenous for both him and Warrior, so there's at least a spark here, even if the in-ring action is dire. It's a terrible, stupid artifact of early 90s nonsense worth perhaps revisiting for the sheer car-crash factor, which makes it more entertaining than some stinkers, I guess.

7209.04.2022Giantfan19804.0Did anyone think the heels had a chance? Even if it's a handicap match, one guy is a manager and the other guy is a down and going Iron Sheik/Totally Not The Iron Sheik and Sgt Slaughter who's best days are long behind him going against frigging Batman and Superman basically. Warrior chases Sheiky and Eggnog to the dressing room and I imagine Vince McMahon holding out a pink slip/sticky note that said "You're Fired! " and sticking it to Warrior as he ran passed after Warrior held up the show for more money and Vince relented but not before canning him. Not sure who is the bigger dick in that argument. Warrior for being a crappy employee but then again, he hosed Vince out of money so he can't be THAT bad, right?

7407.03.2022Resident4.0Not a great match, but I don't think this was horrible. Iron Sheik & Col. Mustafa were old at this point and couldn't do much. Hogand Warrior got in their usual offense. He got the hot tag. Sure the crowd wasn't into it and it wasn't a very good match, but I wouldn't say it's one of the worst ever.
7505.02.2022MMGoose4.0Wrestling was very meh but it was a match designed to get maximum fan engagement, which it did. They did the typical stuff and it worked I guess.
7615.01.2022benny5bellys1.0Jesus wept this was bad. The crowd had been pretty hot all night but basically died until the end of this.
7708.01.2022TigerDiver0.0Agreed with everyone else here, the tagline for this match couldn't be any more accurate: A Match Made In Hell! Hogan & Warrior were slowly declining at this point, and all members of the Triangle were far and away past their prime, so just imagine what this would be like. Not sure if it's the worst SummerSlam main event of all time since there have been quite a few one that managed to be on this level, but it's easily down there. [DUD]

8425.08.2021youaremycmpunk1.0Only remembered for the Ultimate Warrior being fired tidbit than anything that actually happened here, this features 3 old foreign heels getting the shit kicked out of them by the 2 top babyfaces that by that point were pretty much overstaying their welcome to begin with.
8519.07.2021Tomas Cunha1.0Don't wanna repeat everyone else, but yeah the marketing was on point for all the wrong reasons - the match made in hell. Really basic match here with nothing of note happening, and I was shocked when Hulk Hogan got the final hot tag and the crowd gave it a bit of a half assed pop. Sure, it was still a pop, but for HULK HOGAN it was strange to see most of the people not going crazy. Times were changing, and this match sucked, mostly because by this time the Hogan/Slaughter had no fuel left in the tank whatsoever. Easiest recommendation to avoid. [3/4*]
8619.09.2020MagnusD0.0I agree with the previous commenter, this was a terrible main event, there was litle to nothing reedemable here. Why is the Hogan/Slaughter feud still going on at this point? Who thought it was a good idea to put The Iron Shiek (49) and Adnan Al-Kassie (51) in a PPV main event in 1991? What was the point of this match? Seriously, this should never have been booked and Hogan and Slaughter should have both moved on to other stuff by now. Worst PPV main event in Summerslam history in my opinion.
8702.08.2020Mizzle Assault Ant0.0A match made in Hell indeed, because it's hell to watch! Probably the worst Summerslam main event. You've got a feud that's been lame since January, if not before, then throw in a bunch of guys who can barely wrestle anymore like Sheik and Adnan, and how about the Warrior who has to be led by the hand to do anything worthwhile? Just a bad mess.
