Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair

[4.0] "Well, Savage and Flair can't have a bad match, but I don't like lumberjack matches and this won't be the expectation. I felt like they were phoning it in. Nothing significant happens throughout, and Savage gets the win and his revenge on Flair for attacking his father, I bit he remembered it as there was less grudge here than their previous encounter. I still want to yap about ridiculous the setting of the show is but that's enough."

[7.0] "These two had multiple great matches together, but the Lifeguard Lumberjack stipulation hurt this outing, as the action kept getting broken up by Flair and Savage getting tossed to the outside. The start-and-stop nature restricted both men to short bursts of their usual movesets without a more dramatic story emerging, but while this amounted to a clip show of their previous matches that still managed to make it the best thing on an otherwise dire PPV."

[6.0] "This match wasn't a 5 star match by any means but it was still a good enjoyable match (especially compared to the rest of the card). They used the lumberjacks well in my opinion but they still might have been limited by them."

[6.0] "Not as good as their American Bash match, but still pretty solid. They could have made it feel more like a grudge match, but at least the work was very good and the stipulation added something new to the feud. Also a fantastically looking Elbow Drop from Savage for the finish."

[7.0] "This was the best match of the night. By far. At least these beach fans know who Randy Savage is...and they seem to enjoy Flair as well. Not a fove-star match by any means, but it was a good match to watch."

[7.0] "To the surprise of absolutely no one, Macho and Flair put on the match of the show. Who could have guessed it? Lumberjack matches - excuse me, lifeguard matches - are usually pretty middling, as it's hard to work around that many bodies, but these two use it well, and Brain especially sells the idea of the claustrophobia of a lumberjack match on commentary. Meanwhile, in the ring, Savage and Flair work a pretty standard match for their level - good, and a head above anything else on this card, but considering it's talked about like a big blow off match on their lengthy feud, it feels like it's missing some heat and intensity. It's mostly just standard issue Flair and Savage. That's good, don't get me wrong, but it's the kind of match that doesn't reach its ceiling."

[7.0] "Best match on the show. Classic Flair shenanigans and Macho Man charisma. They played into the lumberjack gimmick well and delivered a fun watch with an interesting backdrop."

[6.0] "Lifeguard match is just a beach themed lumberjack match. Match was fine, but Savage and Flair have done better. Best thing on this piece of crap ppv so far anyway!"

[9.0] "The look and feel of this match really gives it a high rating for me i loved the attire of both men i loved arn getting involved and i loved the lifeguard gimmick as well."

[6.0] "Definitely the best match on this awful card, but not a patch on their one a month ago.The lifeguard/lumberjack gimmick hurt this, as both men thrived on working on the ropes and outside the ring, and due to the lack of a proper hard cam they also blocked the view of some of the action. They both try to make it interesting, and what they do is certainly good, but it's far less good than it could be and suffers from the repeated outside interference. Watch their previous match instead."

[8.0] "Rick and Randy's match stole the show. Randy get revenge and the good has triumphed. The match had a good storytelling and technical component, storyline itself was quite personal and ended on the right positive note. Not the best match in careers of both, but real decoration of this controversial show"

[6.0] "Solid back and forth match, I guess. Too much time was spent with these two tossing each other out of the ring to put over the stupid gimmick. The only time it came into play in an interesting way was when Ric Flair tried to escape Savage during the last comeback attempt and the Lifeguards threw him back in. Ric Flair was clearly the MVP of the match here, his control segments was good and his bumped his ass off when ever Savage was in control. The Arn Anderson DDT run-in was completely pointless and unnecessary. **3/4"

[8.0] "I can take or leave the lumberjacks but I like the beach setting and I always like Savage and Flair together. Their '95 feud did very good business for WCW and it's not hard to see why, both were still doing very good work at this time."
