The Rock vs. Val Venis

[4.0] "Val Venis main eventing Smackdown? Yeah, no thanks... in fairness they did put together a mildly amusing story around it, but Rock is just staggeringly above Venis here in every way."

[7.0] "This was actually a very entertaining match and a better one than I expected as again The Rock makes his opponent look strong. He still has his classic moments though where he does what he wants where he goes on commentary at one point and even puts the head set on Val. The ending in particular made things interesting though and I loved the upset tease where Val gets a big nearfall where Mankind interferes and accidentally hits Rocky with the chair. Rocky gets payback on him and Rock Bottoms both of them to finally win with the end of the show teasing a big implosion."

[6.0] "I didn't have high hopes for this match at all. Didn't understand why Val Venis was feuding with The Rock for this week but the match genuinely wasn't bad at all. Some fun moments and they worked well together."

[5.0] "For the most part a rather boring walk and brawl, enlivened slightly by some funny Rock antics on commentary. It gets a bit better towards the end with Rock pulling out a fisherman's suplex, which I can't remember seeing him do before."
