[9.0] "One of the most memorable matches in RAW history. Shawn Michaels has a big problem with Steve Austin, but acting on the philosophy of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend, " he wants to defeat his longer-term and personal enemies Owen and Bulldog. Amazing crowd, Shawn's ring return, fantastic storytelling, excellent Shawn FIP segment, action, drama and result. ****1/4"

[8.0] "Great tag team action with a hot crowd. HBK and Austin worked well as a tag team despite them fighting and getting along well, the match was very fast paced making it very entertaining and never boring. Also this was HBK's first match after 4 months i think and honestly if the you didn't know that he would never guessed it. Great job from all 4 four wrestlers here."

[8.0] "Terrific TV. This is paced in a fashion that allows the relatively modest runtime to host something truly substantial, almost feeling like a classical southern tag. Michaels is superb here, immediately without ring rust among some truly elite in-ring talent. Everyone is razor sharp though, producing some incredibly snappy tag team wrestling. ***3/4"

[8.0] "A great Tag match on Free tv. Shawns return to the ring since February I wanna say and he hasnt lost a step. Of course it helps that hes matched up against two of the best Owen and davey. Davey and Shawn were awesome here their chemistry was always fantastic. They always got the best out of each other. Owen brought the heel tactics and Austin brought the energy and adrenaline to the match. Brillant tag 4/5"

[8.0] "This was a hot tag team match to say the least. The dysfunctional side of the Austin and HBK team surprisingly doesn't come into play here as they both work well enough together. It was the veteren insticts of Owen and Bulldog that had them on the back foot for much of the match with the ways they would distract the referee whenever Austin gets the hot tag and they continue to attack Michaels. It's an enjoyable TV match because it's very fast paced and everyone in the match got to shine and the crowd was hot for everything in this match."

[8.0] "This was an unexpected gem. I didn't think this would be that good but it was a great match that went at 1000 miles an hour and was done like that. The crowd was there to see Micheals and for the first time ever Austin felt like he was playing second. I've never seen Owen Hart but after this match I wanna see more of him. Earl Hebner was having a stroke the entire time trying to keep Austin and The Heels in check which was great. The finish was also really good. Very good match and truly a hidden gem."

[6.0] "Fine match but nothing special. There was one nonsensical part in the match where Owen came in as the legal man even though there was no tag made and the referee Earl Hebner did nothing. It felt like the match was building up but then it just ended and felt anti climactic."
bigsubwoofer wrote on 22.12.2022:
[9.0] "Damn, this match was a treat. Shawn Micheals was absolutely on fire in his return match and put in one of the best performances of his entire career. Everything he did was perfect. Everyone else played their parts great as well."

[9.0] "This is the kind of Southern tag that would make Jim Cornette splooge. This had all the trappings of a good tag match: a lightning quick pace, plenty of workrate, and the faces and heels acting exactly how they should do in a tag match. This is Michael's first match since February and he shows zero signs of ring rust. He's the FIP for most of this match and he's fantastic and it's clear that he hasn't missed a step. Austin and Michaels are teaming up here, but they are not friends at all. They are facing off at the next PPV and it seems entirely possible that this team could combust at any given minute. The heel team cut the ring in half and keep working down Michaels. There are a lot of teases of Michaels getting the hot tag and the crowd eats it all up. Once Austin's in, HBK lands the Sweet Chin Music amid all the chaos, and Austin covers and gets the win and all hell breaks loose as a massive brawl breaks out."

[8.0] "This was a great tag match between 4 very talented guys. It's not a classic, but it goes to show what they could do together given 12 minutes. They had a high-intensity tag match for the tag titles, and Michaels and Austin actually ended up walking away champs here. I just loved their work together, it was a great match. ****"

[8.0] "Awesome tag match, HBK was in a whole different gear here just busting out an incredible workrate, while Austin brought some serious intensity to the match. Bulldog and Owen did a great job as well, keeping a great pace and building some legitimate heel heat from the crowd. I thought the length of this match was perfect too, it hit fast and never got a chance to overstay its welcome, as tag matches sometimes do."

RPMX123 wrote on 09.07.2018:
[8.0] "Action was absolutely stellar, Austin always brings a unique dynamic to tag matches and the offense that Michaels and Owen/Bulldog trade is both awesome to watch and fun to watch, and the story told with the Hart Foundation on the outside threatening a dirty finish was very intriguing. And of course, the brilliant shock win of Austin and Shawn. Only problem with this match is time constraints, it's a very good match, don't get me wrong, and I totally understand the Meltzer rating, but this match suffers from being too short, but maybe the extremely fast pace adds to its charm. Otherwise, brilliant RAW match, 1997 was full of them. ****"

jboyaquar wrote on 25.08.2016:
[7.0] "Too short and standard to be anything exceptional, this bout nonetheless featured four incredible performers all within their prime and with their working boots on. Apparently, as this was Shawn's first match back after an 'injury, ' he was determined to prove that he was still the best 'worker' in the WWF by bumping about and being exceptionally vibrant despite sharing the ring with three other people who, at the time, did not care for 'The Showstopper. ' The belts themselves were secondary to continuing the feud of everyone against The Harts, and as a way to transfer Owen's attentions from the tag scene to the IC scene and the singles feud with Steve Austin."

[10.0] "I wasn't sure what to expect here, everyone in the match is really excellent and in top form around this time but I was never much a fan of the odd couple short term tag team. Here I think it was executed fantastically, Austin & HBK gelled extremely well during the match and saved the bickering for after the bell, and Owen & Bulldog showed once more why they are one of the most underrated tag teams of all time. Stupendous work from everyone involved, surely very high on the list of best TV matches of all time."
