The action itself is fairly basic (and Piper's technical execution is admittedly clearly a notch below Flair - those chair shots in the post match are especially poor), but the personalities of Flair and Piper are enough to make this well worth watching."

It looked like they were just having think out there, which affected the psychology a little. There was a great story and the crowd ate it up, might have pushed for a 7 but just not enough going on and the worst looking chair shots keep it a solid 6*."

Piper still had the crazy energy to fire up everything despite being far and away from wrestling at this period, and Flair was always at his game. Nice little finish here to protect Piper. I think this is one of his best matches ever, actually. [****]"

I think these guys did wrestle on a Mid Atlantic show many years prior, but that was before Piper was a big star. This was awesome, Piper was at his peak as a wrestler around this time, having a classic match here with Flair and then with Bret at Wrestlemania. Piper fit into the Flair formula well and these two put on one hell of an entertaining spectacle, worthy of a PPV main event. Watch this match."

There no matwork or feeling-out process, but a scrappy tie-up that quickly leads to both throwing punches. I was hoping they would play to that tune more, but the match is more of your basic old-school affair that Flair was growing accustomed to over the course of his WWF stint. It still works well mind you, as Piper had a strong performance trying to rip Flair apart, whereas Flair would take the tiniest openings to get the advantage back. Heel shenanigans and teases take over towards the end, but it only gets the crowd more riled up. A dirty pin for the Flair victory has Roddy furious, throwing him to the outside and attacking everyone in sight with a chair. What a great finish as Hotrod stands tall. ****"
