Mankind vs. Steve Austin vs. Triple H

[9.0] "I really enjoyed this match. Whatever you believe happened between Austin and Hunter, if Austin refused to drop the belt to him (which seems like the most logical explanation given how everything turn out) or not it was still cool to see Mick win it again. I like Ventura's involvement here in Minneapolis. Sucked to see Austin lose the belt as a young fan watching this live but I did not understand the injury situation he was in at the time."

[6.0] "A pretty decent triple threat, the crowd was fine, but Foley was a super after-thought here, but also made the match way better than it would've been? and he also won? a weird match for 99', decently enjoyable and wasnt long"

[7.0] "Great match, different to others, here were less pitfalls like previous matches they had, the performance was more on point from what I saw of Triple H and Mankind, but Steve Austin was more low on numbers different to previous matches, so that injury was something important, so in general was a good Main Event, has his moments like the stunner to McMahon son (Shane) and Mankind winning the title was good, not my favorite but it's not as bad as someone could think. 7/10 [****1/4]"

[8.0] "[*** 3/4 ] A strong match by virtue of the title, but I don't know why there weren't many pinfalls. Foley and Triple H performed very well, but Austin was less than usual. The injury was probably bad. Mankind's win was the best possible decision at the time, and it was another moment of justice for one of the pinnacles of wrestling."

[4.0] "Mick Foley wins his last world title in a tortured way, a reign that would amount to nothing at all sadly. Typical flaws both of three way matches and of the Attitude Era as this match is all over the place, for me it just never comes together."

[7.0] "This was kind of a fun match and it was good of Jesse Ventura to stand back and let the action unfold instead of butting in like a lot of old wrestlers do trying to get themselves over. Alliances shifted throughout the match, but it was Mankind who walked away with the title in a big surprise victory. Austin falling and getting tangled in the ropes after Ventura tossed Shane out of the match was a laugh out loud moment. But the crowd wanted Austin to win and they were kind of surprised when Mankind got the victory."

[6.0] "This match is a novelty in a few ways. It was the one and only time Mick won a WWF world title on PPV, even though it'd go on to be his weakest reign. It's also the last night where you can say Triple H wasn't a current or former world champion. I'd honestly call this a relatively cold match. The build was atrocious. Triple H really wasn't coming off as a true threat, and Mick sort of came out of nowhere too. I think of the three, Mick wasn't expected to win. The crowd is excited, but kind of stunned when the three count happens. The match in general is good, but I'd call it underwhelming for the event, the spot, and the talent in the right. It's a solid but pretty tame triple threat match. I don't think this would make many people's 'top 3' Summerslam main events. Good for sure, but messy and kind of bland."

[6.0] "The build for this match absolutely sucked, with Hunter, then Chyna, then Foley, then Hunter AND Foley being the #1 contender going into the PPV. If Vince had any balls, it would've been Chyna in the main event. There's a hilarious blink-and-you-miss-it moment right after Shane is thrown out by Jesse Ventura where Austin accidentally hangs himself up in the ropes and needs Triple H to save him."

[8.0] "Very entertaining SummerSlam main event as you would expect from the people involved with a surprising result as well as I don't think many people predicted Mankind winning or Austin taking the fall. Ventura does a good job here as he reinforces the rules in his own way and has a lot of entertaining moments as well like when he bans Chyna from ringside when he catches her interfering and he does the NJPW Red Shoes moment where he refused to count a Triple H pinfall because he uses a steel chair and the bit where he chucks Shane out after Austin gives him a stunner was hilarious. He doesn't detract from the action though where you get a typical mix of Attitude Era brawling and some solid wrestling as well. It had some of the Triple Threat tropes as well where at one point you would see Mankind double teaming against both guys. Triple H wrestles the match smart as well where he continues to zero in on Austin's legs after he hits him with the chair and Austin's selling to this was fantastic and of course Foley takes a brutal looking spill on the outside because H has it scouted. Austin eats a bunch of finishers at the end to finally take him out. Triple H continues to get heat on him after the match where he repeatedly hits Austin on the legs."

[4.0] "One of the first parts that is tough is theres no real way to tell when the match starts and its just a little hectic. Austin and Mankind are double teaming Triple H with some punches and then Mankind hugs Austin, offers him a handshake, and Austin works on him, goes for a stunner just a minute or two into the match. Action spills to the outside and its just a brawl. Ventura gets in the middle of Chyna and Mankind, Austin chokes Triple H with the camera cable and Trips hits him with a chair. Triple H and Mankind brawl in the ring. There hasnt been a single interesting thing yet to happen so far in the match. Mankind hits the mandible claw on Triple H, then just basically walks over to Chyna who pulls him down and into the ring post, so Ventura kicks Chyna out. Austin comes over and clotheslines Triple H on the ramp and they brawl around the stage. They roll back into the ring and out as Triple H works Austin into the ring post. Mankind has been out for like 4 full minutes thanks to a crotch shot. He then gets up and for some reason pushes Triple H out of the way to stomp Austin, and then they double team Austin. Triple H half locks in a leg lock on Austin and then Mankind does a leg drop on Austin, goes for a pin. HHH breaks up the pin, and then Mankind clotheslines HHH over the top rope and they both fall over. Mankind then tries to do a running somersault to HHH, misses and lands back flat on the ring side floor. Triple H starts working over Austin and they brawl back and forth now going into the crowd. Mick comes back to go after Austin and takes a back bump onto the concrete. They all wind up back in the ring and have some more brawling. Austin hits a low blow on HHH, works over Mick in the corner, turns around and Triple H tries to get him in a pedigree, Austin catapults Trips into Mick in the corner. Mick turns around and gets hit with a stunner, Triple H breaks up the pinball with a chair shot to Austin, gets yelled at by Ventura. Then hits Mankind in the head with a chair shot, but Ventura refuses to count the pin since he used the chair. Shane McMahon comes to the ring to argue with Ventura, Austin gets up and hits Shane with a stunner, Triple H goes over to the corner to choke Mankind (? ) and Ventura sends Shane over the top rope while Austin gets caught up in the ropes somehow and Triple H has to get him out. This is HILARIOUS. Mankind then puts the sock on his hand and goes after stone cold with one hand in the mandible claw and Helmsley in the other hand. Austin gives him a low blow, Trips puts Mick in the pedigree, but Austin clotheslines HHH before he can hit it. All 3 brawl in the middle of the ring, Austin does the stooges spot where he headbutts them both together, hits HHH with a stunner which Mankind breaks up. Micks sent over the turnbuckle face first into the top of the ring post by Austin, then Triple H hits the pedigree on him, Mankind breaks it up to hit a double arm DDT on Austin, and gets the three count on Austin. Sloppy finish, mediocre. Match. Best part of the entire thing is Austin getting caught in the rope, and the crowd is barely reacting to a Mick Foley win, which just shows how poorly done the match was. It is at most an adequate main event and really offers nothing special to remember despite Mick Foley winning the title."

[7.0] "This was a decent Attitude Era main event. There was a good mix of actual wrestling and brawling. The finishing stretch was decent and Mankind won the title."

[6.0] "It's another brawl, but in this case it's justified, plus they spend a lot of time in the ring too. Jesse is the main star here though and it's awesome to see how over with the crowd he was here. He makes his rules, so it's not a garbage match and when Triple H uses the chair his reaction to this is fantastic. A lot of changes of momentum and you don't know who will be the winner until the very end, although the winner himself is a little bit surprising."

[8.0] "Standard attitude era brawl with all 3 guys working well together and the stuff with Jesse Ventura didn't take away from the match."

[6.0] "Even if your special ref is Jesse Ventura, it's not great when most of the story during the match is about him, although that's a testament to how good he was. There were some great spots in this match, but it wasn't particularly coherent, and this was an odd time for Mankind to get the title."

[7.0] "They all played their roles in this match well so we got a nice match. A lot of chaotic brawling, the ending to this was very entertaining and left you thinking who was gonna win.***1/2"

[7.0] "The wrestling, action and character work was good, but the structure was pretty messy, such that the finish felt out of nowhere."

[4.0] "This match overall was lackluster from the beginning but still fought with a hot crowd that made the action look better then it should of been. The Climax was a ton of fun though and some spots were awesome as usual with these guys as you? d expect."

[6.0] "Decent three way, but it wasn't really captivating. A lot of borring brawl, punch and kicks, nothing really spectacular. The match only works for the charisma and star power of the ones involved."

[7.0] "This was a good main event and one of the better main events in 1999, which was not great year for in-ring action in WWE. It was an entertaining match with a surprising finish because I don? t think a lot of people expected Mankind to win. Good match ***1/2"
