Jay Joshua vs. Leon Cage

[7.0] "Could be a breakout year for Leon Cage at this rate. Admittedly this is a bit overbooked but I usually go into RevPro matches with that expectation. Everyone seems to be wanting to make Cage look as good as possible as this was clear in his match with Pete Dunne recently. I think the main difference here is that Dunne is a better dance partner and also is able to identify when less is more. That being said this was still incredibly exciting. Cage can definitely lean into flash over substance but when the flash of his offence is so well executed from the high flying athleticism to even the striking, it's hard not to be impressed by the kid. Very reminiscent of a young Will Ospreay both good and bad. Jay Joshua was also great here. I haven't seen much of him but the guy is such a good hand, always looks like a beast but also makes his opponent look impressive as well. Would've preferred a bit more offence from Joshua especially in a match this long and it still feeling like a Leon Cage showcase but both guys walked away looking great"

[5.0] "When the ref and the fans make the wrestlers look like little kids, the promoter is asleep at the wheel. Not to take anything away from talent on display here because these two did work extremely well together, but they had zero business going 22 minutes, deep into forced epic territory and essentially ignoring the impact of everything they hit each other with. Again, it's really easy to tell when the promoter is a mark for a certain style rather than a creative guy **3/4"

[9.0] "At the start of this match, the crowd was a little bit deflated. By about five or ten minutes in, though? Say less. Just an amazing, hard-hitting match that was a surprising gem of the afternoon."

[9.0] "Brilliant match from both guys who worked really hard to bring a dead crowd to life. Both guys had fantastic performances here and worked the Babyface Babyface angle well. Some fantastic offence from both in this one, the stretch where they were both swinging moves at each other and dodging everything was brilliant, really landed well. Jay took a nasty 450 knees to the face in this too, fair play for firming it because it looked gnarly. Just an excellent in ring performance and after losing to so many big names like Oku, Newman and Bandido, it feels great to see him get a win over a really credible guy with a fantastic european bridge."

[9.0] "As always, Jay Joshua can be trusted to deliver on any given day. Very entertaining back and forth, and I thought Leon Cage looked really good too. They got the crowd really invested too."

[8.0] "[***3/4] A spirited, high impact clash of styles. Leon Cage looked at his best here, adding some much needed grit to his milquetoast act. Jay Joshua thrived in the dominant bully boy role. Almost out stayed it's welcome with some wobbles in the late stretch."

[8.0] "Probably my favourite Leon Cage match, and his best performance, my big issue with him is that he is called the futurist and is very much the present, but he had a bit more edge to him here, while thats not always needed, with the Flying Bryant and CPF doing well in this, but they fill the niche and Cage did it worse. He looked good here and Jay Joshua seemed on form"
