Atsushi Onita vs. Matthew Tremont

[3.0] "Fairly infamous for being a big carny bait and switch where CZW hyped up a big Onita/Tremont singles that ultimately ended in 5 minutes in a No Contest lol. Now granted this wasn't their fault as apparently Onita at the last minute wanted the match switched to a six-man tag instead (which makes sense considering that would mean paychecks for his buddies as well, crafty bugger) so we get this weird compromise where CZW couldn't not do the singles match advertised but also wouldn't commit much to it. But honestly, did you REALLY want a Onita singles match in 2017? The guy has been seriously fucked since at least 2008 and was progressively worse year after year from there with his smoke and mirror act being increasingly incapable of hiding how physically shot he was. Tremont certainly wasn't gonna carry and Onita wasn't equally going to commit to the kinds of deathmatch CZW would want since he's old and frankly has never been particularly fond of the kind of new-age BJW-style deathmatch they built their brand on, so it was either going to be long and lame as fuck or short and still lame as fuck. In this case? I'm glad they went with the second option. The match itself is really short so I won't entertain explaining much of it outside of Tremont blading and taking basically all of the offence here as Onita just sticks to swinging weapons at either his head or his body or spraying mist for the wealth of his moveset here. He does like a sloppy bump off a lariat so there's that I guess. Onita very gingerly walks to the wire and then as soon as he's gonna get hit with the barbed bat his buddies get involved and the match devolves into just a messy brawl. There is a exploding barbed bat but everyone involved kinda just shakes it off. I'll cover the six-man in the other section so read that ig, but for this I'm just gonna be blunt and say it was pretty piss poor outside of Tremont making his best effort to get this match going."
