Bobby Heenan, Haku & Tama vs. Davey Boy Smith, Koko B. Ware & The Dynamite Kid

[3.0] "I once again marked out seeing Matilda come out with the British Bulldogs. She truly is a goated valet. Is she in the HoF? Why isn't she, if not? A dog and a parrot at ringside says a lot about the hilariously cartoon nature of the 80s, and I love it. The Islanders and the Bulldogs were two fantastic teams of workers, and I quite liked Koko, too. It wasn't a bad match, but considering who was involved in this one, it fell a little short of expectations. Average action and a dull finish. I at least laughed at Matilda running after Heenan."

[5.0] "Mid match, even though some moves were good and the selling too, It wasn't for something important, just a 6 man Tag Team match, and then nothing else for it, and still It was better than other matches of the show, so 5/10 [***1/4]"

[6.0] "I liked this one. The work the 5 actual wrestlers did was good and fast paced, and the Heenan stuff was done well."

[3.0] "Not really sure what to say about this. It happened and the match itself was just there. Heenan had a fitting outfit but that was it. A loss for the faces which was done okay-ish. I am absolutely not a fan of using animals in Wrestling so I always felt uncomfortable whenever Matilda was used as a prop to attack Heenan. I did not like this but the match itself was acceptable."

[3.0] "A bad comedy match focused more on the dog than the actual wrestlers. Boring and not memorable at all. 3/10."

[4.0] "Average Six Men Tag team match that at least manages to entertain in a card filled with other average, yet uninteresting matches."

[3.0] "This match was nothing more than a lame and boring comedy match and was overall just a stupid match. That had Bobby Heenan in there for some reason, absolute joke of a match."

[3.0] "36 years later and I'm still none the wiser as to why Heenan and Koko are in this match. It could have been a good straight tag team match and even an avenue to get the Bulldogs on a run again. Whatever."

[4.0] "Theres still a fucking wet spot on the mat from the last match. We really needed that water spot for Honky? Heenan is out in a dog handler suit with the cushioning, because the dog is gonna bite him. She did go after him when she got in the ring. Haku will be on the WWF roster in 13 years time for WrestleMania 17. Ventura: "Heenan looks like a Chinaman, dont he? " I dont even know what that means. Do the Chinese wear dog handler suits? Anyway, Jesse Ventura is regrettably canceled. We get some heatless action before Heenan tags in to get some cheap shots in on Koko. Everything broke down, allowing the Islanders to splash Heenan onto Koko to score the win. Afterward, Davey Boy yanks Matilda up the aisle to chase Heenan up the ramp. Im not a pet person, but I did work at a PetSmart for a few months before COVID. I can tell you that you probably shouldnt do that. **"

[5.0] "Jobbing Koko to Bobby Heenan in a dog catcher's outfit. Vince was backstage laughing his ass off, I'm sure. Decent enough match, despite The Islanders being gone by the end of the year. The Bulldogs, also, were gone by year's end. A really transitional year for the WWF."

[5.0] "New music for The Islanders, just in time for the team to dissolve almost immediately. I hated this stupid "dog napping" angle (fkn AWFUL) but I love Bobby Heenan's suit. The action is always moving and things are more enjoyable here than most of the previous matches. Things are best when Davey Boy Smith is the face and I also really like what Haku is bringing. Heenan's selling is adorably goofy. The unceremonious PLOP of Heenan for the finish is gold. 4.5"

[2.0] "I think im burned of all the show, but idk, not even the crowd cared about this. All this great wrestlers on this meaningless match just does absolutely nothing for me, it was as meh as you expect it, and there is obviously talent, there is obviously in ring work, but is not done in any way that makes it intersting."

[3.0] "I like the idea of boby in the ring whit the gear to protect him from mtilda but its just sad to see the buldogs on another card doing nothing much. I also am not a masive fan of heanen geting the fall in the way he did but theWWF never intend on doing anything with koko so it makes sense"

[6.0] "I enjoyed the match. The Islanders and the Bulldogs wrestling each other was good. Bobby Heenan had some fun antics with Koko in this match as well. Finish was not done the best but it was fun seeing the Islanders just throwing Heenan on Koko"

[5.0] "This match just wasn't given the respect it deserved. This was supposed to be a rather big grudge match. The Islanders vs. Bulldogs feud was pretty hot, and was going for a good while. You would have expected this match to be given more time and feel more personal, but it just...never kicks it into high gear. There are some decent spots for sure, and Bobby is brilliant as always, but it needed more. While I love the finish, it seems to come out of nowhere. It hits far too quickly. The finish comes pretty much right when you'd expect the second half of the match to start and both teams would start to turn it up another notch. It's solid, but it needed more time, more heat, and more respect as a feud. I hovered between 4 points and 5, but I went with 5 because you just can't not love the Brain's sheer brilliance."

[3.0] "This never got going. Neither of the Bulldogs looked interested in it. The majority of the focus was on Matilda's dognapping at the hands of the Islanders and Bobby Heenan wearing a police dog training suit to battle Matilda's viciousness outside. Just a goofy mess."

[5.0] "27/3/88 Wrestlemania IV WWF. Another alright match, fast and snappy and the finish was good getting Heenan over dirty. Could of better utilised those wrestlers at hand with that athletic talent in the ring. Heenan is genius as always. This Wrestlemania has the feeling that they just want it over already. 5*"

[6.0] "This whole match is about Bobby who is great in this whole thing. His jacket itself is enough to make this match memorable, but he's also so entertaining as this coward prick who gets in the ring to give a guy a few stomps and then immediately tag out."

[4.0] "I honestly forgot this match existed until I opened this page but I remember it being fine. This one is half Bobby Heenan just being goofy. I never got into Matilda the Dog with the Bulldogs."

[4.0] "Bulldogs are great as ever but this is tanked by Heenan's lame comedy bits that just aren't funny in the slightest."

[4.0] "This has the same problem that I have been having with a lot of the card - there are so many short, mediocre matches that when you watch the show in its entirety it really wears you down. The match nothing special, but it was fun enough for what it was. Decent energy and Heenan was amusing. I thought it functioned well enough as filler so the tournament participants had some time to prepare for the main event, but there isn't really much reason to watch this other than being a completionist."

[4.0] "Not much memorable here, it just existed to have the Heenan comedy spots. At least the little wrestling we got with the Bulldogs, Koko and the Islanders wasn't terrible. More than you can say about a lot of this card"

[3.0] "This is the worst Wrestlemania I have seen so far. SO bad. Unforgettable matches to the core. Hate this"

[5.0] "For this to really work it needed a crowd to really react to all the Heenan spots, unfortunately they got this crowd. Poor Matilda, they can not be many dogs treated worse than that poor mutt over the years on the road"

[5.0] "This was a breath of fresh air compared to all the other matches on this show. Bobby Heenan arrived in a dog training suit to protect himself from Matilda, but he ran away from her anyway when the Bulldogs made their entrance. God bless the Brain. This was an enjoyable six-man tag that saw the Bulldogs and Koko showing off their zealous movesets whilst the heels, Heenan in particular, bumped their asses off in an almost over-the-top manner. Heenan eventually got the pin for his team after the Islanders barged in and sky lift slammed him onto Koko. He didn't get to celebrate, though, as Matilda instantly chased him to the entryway while he ran away in horror. [**1/2]"

[5.0] "Entertaining and good match as a 80's wwf match. Islanders are underrated. Koko is a nice wrestler. (**1/2)"

[4.0] "Slightly overrated because of the dreadful show that it? s on. It? s an entertaining match but the entire story is Herman vs a dog and the match is a bit of an afterthought albeit solid"

[5.0] "Stupid story line but Heenan wrestling in an attack dog suit is funny! Heenan even gets to score the pin! Not bad!"

[3.0] "I think this has a relatively high rating simply because it was on such a shitty show. Sure, it was watchable and it told a story with Heenan being hilarious as always, but the crowd wasn't feeling it and it suffered from that. Acceptable match but not very good. [*]"

[5.0] "Islanders, Bulldogs, and Koko bring the work rate, whilst Bobby Heenan brings the hammy comedy by coming to the ring in a protective suit to protect him from the Bulldog's mascot. Jesse Ventura says that Brain looks like 'a chinaman' in his suit. That wouldn't fly today. Tamu bumps all over the place to start things off and takes a big catapult spot over the ring post and to the outside. Dynamite's back is seriously damaged by this point, but he's still able to hold his own and keep up with the energetic pace. Heenan tags in and shows the world what an underappreciated seller he is by bumping his ass off. Heenan pins Koko after using his padded suit as a weapon and splashing Koko with the Islander's assistance. The Bulldogs get the last laugh by chasing Bobby down with Matilda. One of the best matches of the night, but that's not exactly high praise."

[6.0] "It's all action, Dynamite looks like his back is doing better and Heenan bumps his ass off. Not a lot of heat, unfortunately, and a disappointing finish and post match."

[5.0] "Ultimately, this was kind of a comedy breather match between tournament showings, built around the Heenan-Matilda feud because... that was something that happened, yes. I mean, it was entertaining, because it's Bobby Heenan, and the dog training suit was a great visual, but it was still a match built around a comedy angle and about what you'd expect from there."

[5.0] "Solid little tag match here, Bobby Heenan being involved of course adds something to it too. But it was a little too short once again to be anything particularly special, as is the overall theme for the night."

[8.0] "For a short-ish match, I think this bout is quite excellent. I love the whole setup with Heenan coming out in the protective gear after receiving so many threats about being attacked by the dog, and for the action itself I think everyone does a very good job. I will again shout out Koko for being much better than his reputation suggests, at times he's more fun to watch that the Bulldogs."
