[6.0] "Didn't think this match was anything particularly crazy. It wasn't bad but it had a lot of recycled multi-man ladder match tropes. Bury the big man under the ladders only for him to make a comeback, push over the standing ladder in the ring to hit something unimportant, spin a ladder on your shoulders helicopter-style to hit everyone in the hands- oops, I mean head...etc. Some of these guys didn't impress me much either. I only really cared for Hendry, Carver, Saints and Legacy. Fairly standard with a few extra points for some cool spots thrown in the mix."
[6.0] "Really don't think this one was anything special, don't get me wrong I didn't hate it or anything but it's a ladder match that feels underwhelming and that really should never be the case, Shiloh was the only one who impressed here. 3.25 stars"
[6.0] "This was a very uneven match. There were some good individual performances (particularly Sean Legacy and Keanu Carver) and some good sequences but ultimately too long, sloppy at times, and too clever by half. The Shiloh Hill ladder-stilts spot was beyond stupid, though the crowd ate it up. I'd say that's a positive but given where NXT is in popularity right now it feels like they are down to the audience who can't get enough of the goofiness. ***1/4"
"Most of this match was simply a nothing burger, the true standouts were Drake & Carver even with them missing certain timings on spots, considering who the "final two" were that being Joe & Ricky, you'd think their present would be felt more throughout the match, they are practically not involved in the match! There were genuinely very cool spots, such as Legacy's 450 to Drake, or Carver pouncing Drake into the crowds, or Keanu's comeback from the ladders being thrown on top of him and smashing Legacy into the wall, as hell as his crazy bump from ladder to ladder! The rest of the match riddled with very tenseless violence, nothing ever felt scary, there was truly just nothing happening you knew from early on Joe or Ricky were going to win by the fact they barely worked the match and we had to be saddled with Shiloh Hill floundering around the place moving his arms like a fish out of water. The ending is truly what full took me out of the match a very childlike tug of war to a very almost gentle fall onto the ladder by Ricky, this match didnt even feel safe, it felt empty and hollow. A ladder match is supposed to be violent, intense and exciting, I should feel nervous for everyone in the ring for what someone might do, but instead I just watched as if it was a boring movie that I put on in the background to get work done. immensely disappointing."
[6.0] "Fun but half of the participants were far out of their league. Joe Hendry and Ricky Saints were leagues ahead of their contemporaries and really held this match together. I also continue to be impressed by Sean Legacy and I'm very keen to see more of him. As for the other three they definitely have potential but were really not up to snuff here. Jackson Drake I've heard good things about but here he was very amateurish in his timing and execution but got better as he went on. Shiloh Hill really didn't make an impression on me until he took his teeth out and did a really bad Terry Funk ladder spot. Keanu Carver seems like someone I'm gonna see more of but this guy was greener than a frog's asshole. He's got a good look and his ladder bump was easily the best part of the match but this guy was scary and it's a miracle he didn't hurt himself or someone else with how wreckless he was being. The next Oba Femi this man is not. This match was undoubtedly full of fun spots but too many were poorly executed or contrived and really represented what a lot people say about NXT's gimmick matches. Overly choreographed forced chaos albeit still fun while it's on"
[9.0] "Stellar Ladder match that would have been even better if it hadn't lost gas towards the end but that still managed to be a banger, if you like this type of thing there is a lot to enjoy here. ****1/2"
[3.0] "Outside of Saints & Hendry, this didn't feel like a major championship playing-field and absolutely lacked in personality. The early part of the match flowed poorly and was messy in places. I thought Drake looked sloppy: mis-timing the corner spot with Saints early doors, leaping from ladder-to-rope before Hendry had really tipped the ladder over, and struggling to get Carver over the top rope with the leg-scissor. Legacy brought some innovation in moments, but looked distinctly limp in others with poor strikes and missing the 450. The ladder pile-up and spinning spots are massively over-used and have been executed far better. Carver was a shining light; otherwise this just really lacked substance, big moments, and violence given it's a seven-way championship ladder match. Huge let-down."
[8.0] "This was really good in the end. This ladder match was, in a way, less about the winner and more about everyone raising their stock. There was ultimately only 2 potential winners here in Ricky and Hendry but all of the other 5 had a chance to come out of it in a better position than he went in. Keanu looked dominant but still had moments where he looked a bit green (which he is, so that's not a slight) - his potential is huge as he has the size and athleticism to be a big star. Shiloh had the fun spot where he used the broken ladder like stilts - even if it was a bit hokey it was something relatively fresh. Hendry comes out with the win and I imagine will have a short reign before losing it to the next heel Champion. This was a feel good moment for someone who's worked hard for a long time for this spot."
[9.0] "Maybe more 8.5/10. The tradition of great NXT lader matches continues. First of all, event though (for me) there were only two realistic winners going in, all seven partecipants really shined. Everyone had their moment: Keanu looked dominant, Shiloh was creative, Jackson was relentless and everywhere at once. The winner makes total sense, and now we'll see where things go from here. To me, NXT is not suffering from main roster call-ups at all and this match was the perfect proof of that"
[3.0] "Pretty strong mixed bag, it's full of some wonderful spots and wild energy with lots of personality, but it's also about 60% an absolute piss on the grave of wrestling psychology and completely nonsensical. Unpacking individual performances: Dion Lennox: Still pretty boring but good at being a little shit, didn't even realize he was here until about halfway in he gets so little Jackson Drake: Doesn't really come out of this looking particularly special or good Joe Hendry: Is solid as always and makes all his shit look good, and does a good job taking the backseat to show off the younger guys while getting himself over and it's nice to see him win the title Keanu Carver: Has easily the best brawling of anyone in the match and is really sold strongly as a giant threat what with being buried by all participants under ladders, but also spends an ungodly amount of time under said ladders in one of the matches many nonsensical aspects. Ricky Saints: Doesn't feature much in the worst of the match but I still hate this dude Sean Legacy: I fucking despise this dude, every move or strike he does in this match looks like shit and barely connects and I wanna strangle him Shiloh Hill: MVP of the match, gets in all the biggest spots and looked convincing during the brawls, and just puts on a really fun performance that makes me wanna see more of him. Okay so overall while there's lots of fun to be had with this match and also an insane crowd, there are so many bullshit terrible spots (four contrived everyone stands in place while someone hits a dive spots for example) that I can't give it a positive rating. Still, I honestly do recommend it despite its transgressions against my brains common sense and logic."
[6.0] "I am a bit conflicted about this match, it's very much up and down in terms of how much I like it but I land more positive than negative. The main story of this is Keanu Carver, I liked him even more than Oba in the 2023 Breakout tournament and it's clear they need to belt him up ASAP, no reason not to. I would understand not doing it in this match because it would be more effective for him to destroy someone for the belt, but we'll see. The drama of ladder matches is the best when you really care about the competitors and want to see someone win really bad, but outside of Carver there's really nobody in this match that's an interesting NXT champ at all - the division is dire. The well agented spots and brutal bumps along with Carver's star performance bring this to a very solid match, though. Not a fan of Hendry winning."
[7.0] "I feel like it was sequence after sequence; they didn't let me digest the fight the way I should have. However, the fight was good, he was the right winner even though I personally didn't like him that much. The boys from evolve, making a name for themselves; they surprised me, both of them are very good."
[8.0] "a Ladder match on a non-PPV show, in this climate? We are truly blessed. This was a fun match, not the best ladder match I've seen but there's some bits I have to nitpick. There was one point where Jackson Drake could've took it bur decided to stop in his tracks when Sean Legacy held the ladder, not tip, HOLD! Fucking genius! Then Legacy barely hit a springboard 450 to Jackson on a ladder. The main guys here was Carver and Shiloh who had a good majority of the highlights in this bout. Shiloh senton bombed into Carver. Also Carver barged Jackson into the crowd, then barged Legacy into the backstage. That ending with Keanu Carver going through the ladder, and the back and forth between Saints and Hendry just for Hendry to win was the best way to end the match. Joe Hendry was been over for so long that to see him finally a title run is perfect, and the crowd reaction from the fans, as well as Booker's terrible singing, says it all. Flaws here and there, but a fun match and no doubt, a terrific ending."
[8.0] "I had rather low expectations, I was waiting for a typical basic ladder match, but I was pleasantly surprised. The match brought together completely different archetypes, and it was beneficial, despite the fact that not all wrestlers here were experts in participating in gimmick matches and capable of showing incredible spots. It was a great match with a good structure, which showed new stars who had not yet achieved success on the brand, from the best side."
[9.0] "This was a great match. There were quite a few funny/awesome spots - Jackson Drake sending himself flying into a ladder. Hendry doing his spin, whilst holding a ladder. Carver tearing a ladder in two, Shiloh later using those ladder pieces as stilts. Carver buried in ladders and later breaking free. If they cut a few minutes from the match it may have been better, as there was a certain point where everyone was standing around, looking tired. The match had a good finish, with a nice choice for NXT champion."
[8.0] "[4 Stars] This might be the fastest paced ladder match I have ever seen, wow. Man, from bell to bell these six men just went 100mph and there were some really great moments and spots in here too. I like the tribute to Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho with the finish, though I think Joe and Ricky could have done a better job to make it look more believable. Still, great match."
[8.0] "Very good match. The pace at the start was amazing just action with everyone involved. A couple of things that looked awkward but great match overall."
[9.0] "That was absolute banger from start to finish. Non-stop action with using ladders on 100%. Everyone got his moment and I liked the most when Kianu breaks the ladder and Shiloh still can use it later, that was smart. Carver showed really good on this match and his falling on the ladder was very brutal. Joe Hendry won the NXT championship, what was pretty obvious, but it was the best choice. Love this match so match. One of the best this year."
[8.0] "Fantastic and super fun match. I wasn't familiar with many of the wrestlers involved, and I must say they all surprised me positively. Joe Hendry crowned NXT champion, a fair reward for the quick and natural way he achieved his popularity. Hope his reign doesn't drag or lasts too long. JH is a fun and interesting character, but not exactly a credible champion, specially when you have guys like Saints and Ethan Page in your roster."
[6.0] "Soooo overrated. Didn't like the pace, seem they were desperate for fulfilling all the spots and they never let the audience actually enjoy the moment and what they're doing. Fast food wrestling, not for me"
[9.0] "Great match, really fun. I wasn't super familiar with Jackson Drake or Keanu Carver but they both looked good. Joe Hendry finally got his NXT moment as well."
[7.0] "Shiloh Hill breaking the ladder and using it as stilts was amazing. He was definitely the highlight of this match. A really good ladder match, where the newcomers showed they were ready to perform at a high level. And, frankly, they outshone the more experienced Joe Henry, Ricky Saints, and Sean Legacy (the guy has 10 years of indie experience). I have almost no complaints about the action. But I REALLY didn't like the winner. A joke repeated several times stops being funny. I was sick of him back in 2024, and when he became TNA World Champion, I stopped following the promotion, and if it weren't for the women's division, I probably would have stopped watching NXT now. The dude is almost 40, he's not very interesting in the ring, and all he has going for him is his repetitive comedic moves. I wonder if he'll be able to maintain his aura when he moves to the main roster? Either way, I hope he'll be a transition champion for someone more interesting. Come on, you have Ethan Page or Tony D on your roster, for example. Joe Henry's title reign after Oba Femi looks absolutely ridiculous... ***3/4"
[9.0] "This was a very fun seven-man ladder match for the WWE NXT Title. Now, I had my picks. I was going with Keanu Carver because of the mass destruction he's been doing. I thought they needed to keep it going by having him win the WWE NXT Title, or Sean Legacy, as I felt it had been long overdue for him to have his own special moment, as I think he's very underrated. But there was a lot of carnage and cool spots laid out in this match, like Shiloh Hill using the ladders like stilts, Keanu Carver coming out of the pillar of ladders and destroying everybody, and Ricky Saints pushing Keanu Carver onto the ladder, which snapped in half, taking him out of the matchup. My MVPs for this match had to be Shiloh Hill and Keanu Carver. They had some good moments, and Shiloh Hill kinda won me over a little bit after his performance, but the ending of the match reminded me of the HBK and Chris Jericho spot when they had a ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Joe Hendry cracked Ricky Saints with the WWE NXT Title, then he finally did it after two years of chasing the WWE NXT Title. He has done it. He finally became the WWE NXT Champion. Very happy for him. I do think it's a transitional reign to put over a young talent because he's rumored to be on SmackDown in the future, as the USA Network wants him on the show. But this was all-around a lot of fun and had some chaotic moments. Happy to see what Joe Hendry does with his reign."
[6.0] "This had major re-enactment vibes. Like everyone involved had seen a bunch of ladder matches and had the athletic ability to recreate the spots albethey without the timing and intangibles that make pro wrestling special. Don't get me wrong there were some cool flourishes here & there, plus genuine drama around the finish, but Hendry's moment of glory felt incredibly arbitrary ***"
[4.0] "4.5 - This needed three fewer participants - Lennox, Legacy, and Hill. This was ultimately about Hendry and Saints as the top two, then the future potential of Carver and Drake. Having too many people turned this into a 'baby's first multi-man ladder match, ' with a bingo card of bad spots, like 'run into the guy carrying the ladder', and 'run into the guy spinning the ladder'. Some of the highspots, like Legacy's 450, weren't worth it. Carver looked generic to start, but distinguished himself at the end, especially with his ladder bump. I understand why people might've been excited by this match, but there was just too much of the bad kind of chaos."
"Really good match with some cool spots. The pace at the start was great, pure action with all wrestlers involved. Ladder matches in NXT are almost always fun, so you can't go wrong with it. Hendry winning the title was super predictable so i wasn't surprised. I'm curious to know who his first feud will be. [****.25]"
[8.0] "Very good match for the NXT title. NXT has a long history of successful ladder matches and this is no exception. Just looking at the names involved, the only realistic winners were Hendry or Saints. Carver had himself a breakout performance with how strong he looked, the spot where he broke a ladder in half was cool, he was the most impressive out of anyone. With seven guys there was always something happening, even if there were times when it felt like people were laying around on the outside for too long. The commercial breaks didn't help the pacing, but that's the downside of having this match on TV. The last couple of minutes were great. Carver was going crazy taking people out then fought Saints on a ladder before being pushed off and taking a huge bump. Hendry and Saints had a fun tug of war battle with the belt that Hendry comes out on top of to become the new NXT champion. Really liked the finish and the right person won. 8/10"
[9.0] "This was honestly excellent. Everyone performed amazingly well here. It's really funny how NXT can put on PPV quality main events like this. They performed creative, high risk spots, crazy ringside ladder bumps, crazy high flying spots, and loads of brawling on the outside and managed to make it work with 7 different people and a ton of ladders. Some of what they did here, like Keanu breaking the ladder in half, Shiloh using the ladder as stilts, Drake's crazy athleticism, all the risk averse spots that require perfect timing were executed properly or almost perfectly when there were so many opportunities for something to go wrong. There was a good amount of psychology in this too, especially towards the end when only Hendry and Saints were left. I was very impressed by Kianu. Never seen or heard of him before but he did quite a lot in this match. Drake proved why he's the evolve champion even though he came a bit short. Shiloh Hill and Sean Legacy had some solid sequences. Hendry and Saints became more relevant towards the end of the match. Dion was kinda just there for a lot of it. He didn't stand out as much as some of the others. All in all a great high-level match full of some impressive underrated names to look out for in the future."
[7.0] "This was very good ladder match, the commercial breaks ruined half of the match though. All the new comers looked great here. Keanu looked like a monster, he looked unstoppable. Sean, Shiloh, & Jackson had some standout moments. Dion was fine, I guess. Joe Hendry winning was actually a good and shocking chose. Good cause he deserves the title, but shocking cause we all thought Ricky was gonna win back the title."
[10.0] "While it's pretty funny to see a near 40 year old getting the title of a known developmental brand, but the way to get there was some journey as it created wlone of the most frantic, most unserious spotworthy clusterfuck of a laddermatch and I'm here all for it, you can see Shawn's influences heavily in this match as they're almost the copy of what bumps he used to take in his prime."
[8.0] "Great ladder match especially for this being on TV. Joe Hendry picks up the win after a back and forth with Ricky Saints. These were really the only two I thought could realistically win, and that are ready for the spotlight that comes with the belt. Everyone looks good here, with Carver and Legacy in specific. ****.25"
[10.0] "Probably the best ladder match NXT has had since the infamous Takeover Orleans one, and inarguably, from my opinion the vetter variant of it, while that match had an abbundance of established names to go by, here they proved that they can hang with the rest of the roster and keep the ring quality afloat. Great great match, WWE MOTY in my opinion."
[9.0] "This was so much fun to watch and had a ton of very entertaining spots. Keanu going crazy was fun. The ending sequence between Ricky and Joe was great. Shiloh using the ladder as stilts was entertaining. Every single wrestler looked great in this and nobody felt out of place"
[8.0] "Awesome well constructed ladder match. Some really solid sequences especially from Sean Legacy and Jackson Drake. Keanu Carver looked like a beast. Fantastic finish with Joe Hendry and Ricky Saints battling on the ladder for the title. Huge win and right choice for Hendry. Overall ****1/4"
