[4.0] "[1.75*] Maybe it's not a bad match; but it's definitely not something I'd liked, it's mostly the style of Ace Austin's in-ring - what makes don't get into this, the moves/the spots they mostly feel Gratuitous, I just don't like this style at least when it's done like that, some spots/moments can ruin a match for me even if they weren't necessarily "bad/ atrocious"; those Mox's Matches recently are really not good, for me personally at least."

For a moment, they went into the right direction, not at all I think it should've been 10-minutes, but for picture-in-picture purposes, we need 2 whole minutes of Ace Austin holding Mox in the ground. But basically everything else was the right call. Mox is not the guy for these type of matches, but since we're here fuck it, beat the shit out of him lmao."

[6.0] "Many friends and followers on twitter protested against that match, saying how it was an awful choice by TK make Jon Moxley wrestle an guy like Ace Austin. I was super confused, never ever watched an match from that guy in my entire life and honestly, after watching it I kinda understand why. Both of them need to hold themselves a lot to make it connect, Ace Austin showed that he can be a good wrestler but also exposed his in ring weakness against wrestlers not so flippy like Mox. Maybe if he wrestle a guy like Takeshita it will take the best out of him, idk. Overall, the strikes here, specially the kicks, where pretty good."
[6.0] "Solid match but I hate eliminator matches. They're beyond useless as the champion ALWAYS wins unless it's in a 3 or 4 way. I'm glad Ace FINALLY got a match on Dynamite."

[7.0] "7.0 -- Jon Moxley came out to a big reaction with plenty of cheers, while Ace Austin got hit with a very loud "who? " from the crowd, but the match eventually pulled people in. Early on, Moxley set the tone by straight-up kicking Austin in the face to start things off, and the fans did get into it when they counted along during Austin's ten punches on Mox against the guardrail. My favorite spot came when Ace hit a springboard Komangery on Mox for a near fall, which was genuinely excellent and easily Austin's best moment. Ace got a little sloppy at one point but recovered by dialing back the acrobatics and leaning into heavy strikes instead, which helped. He also sold Moxley's offense extremely well, especially the nails to the back, making them look excruciating, and his sell of a Moxley clothesline made Mox look like God-mother-fing-zilla. The finish came when Ace charged Moxley, who countered with a cutter, followed it up with the Death Rider, and picked up the win."

[5.0] "Straightforward match that never overreached, opening without much ceremony and immediately settling into Moxley's familiar brand of pressure and physicality. The match itself had solid moments and a clear veteran-versus-upstart dynamic, but it often felt more like a vehicle for tone than a fully developed struggle, with limited escalation and little in the way of surprise. The finish came quickly and decisively, fitting the story but leaving the bout feeling somewhat abrupt, while the psychology was sound even if the execution and pacing stayed firmly in the middle lane. In the end, it comes off as a serviceable, workmanlike effort that does its job without lingering."

I really enjoy these CC eliminator matches and although I never believed Austin would be the one to push Mox to the time limit, the hard-hitting moments carried real weight. Some great kicks from Ace, a quiet but effective Moxley who continues to carry the burden of his matches on his back: not special, but solid stuff."

[5.0] "Wasnt a massive fan of this. It was mostly decent but it doesnt really match up when compared to other Mox TV matches over the past number of months. Ace is a pretty flashy wrestler but i think that sometimes works against him as some of the stuff he did here didnt really look all that impactful. Mox had his moments here but overall this match didnt fully come together for me. **3/4"
LarkFox wrote on 30.01.2026:
"I thought the match was clunky, Ace never looked like winning and wasn't showcased effectively. The No selling of the chops irked me a little, there wasn't much of a story involved. There appears to be no real reason for this title match to be on the card for me. A lot of the offensive moves from Ace was sloppy, I don't think he's ready to be in a title picture just yet. Bright future though"

I think it was a strong choice to give him a championship eliminator match because he's so new there's no stakes if he loses and if he wins, it'll defy the odds in a surprising way - but ultimately he just gets a chance to work with the top of the card early on."

Stakes: 1/2. Justification: 0.5/1. Placement on the card: 1/1. Suspense: 0.25/1. Bonus/penalty: None. Total: 4.75/10. Match watched on Triller TV."

[4.0] "This match put me in a mood before it started. What is the purpose? Open challenges are fine but they'd better be banger matches then. This was a clunky, heatless match where Moxley "I'm such a hard badass" is falling right back into the tired caricature that made him so insufferable to me for so long. His character motivation or alignment is all over that place right now and frankly dull. Ace Austin is fine but just has that "lifetime midcard jobber" vibe unfortunately. Davis and Doyle came out after the match to further this inevitably cursed DCF feud."
InfiniteWick wrote on 29.01.2026:
[7.0] "Pretty fun & also just the right length. Missed the action during the commercial break but I enjoyed it. Mox kept wanting to drag Ace Austin out into the deep and Ace was trying to go there with him. The striking exchanges were cool but maybe too much at times. I liked the dynamic in this one. It was fast and what I like to see. That stupid head stomp move by Ace was, well, stupid. Some spots seemed kinda cliched, and it wasn't super duper interesting. But it's always cool to see the veteran v. youngin' dynamic. Lots of hunger from Ace. [***.5]"

[6.0] "[2.75*] This is the worst rated Mox singles match from his last 25 bouts and, in my opinion, it's indeed the worst one. When this match was announced, I said it was a waste of Mox's talents and some of my friends were upset at me. I said that the match was obviously going to be decent or even slightly good (which was the case), but that Mox is one of the WORST options for these exhibition matches with young low carders who lose all the time. He's not the same as he was in 2022. He's way better, but for this specific case he is "worse". He's not going to work a 15-20 min NJPW Epic with these guys. There are not going to be tons of false finishes. He's not going to work the "AEW style" with them. So this was obviously going to be pretty standard which means that they could've used all this Mox TV time with something way more meaningful, as he's the current best promo on the company. If you want to give this kind of spotlight for young low carders, you should use guys like Fletcher, Ospreay or Takeshita. They're way more enthusiastic about star ratings or whatever so they'd wrestle a BOSJ Final against the dude for no reason. Will would've let him kick out of the Hidden Blade at fucking 1 or whatever, people would've "praised" the match more."

[4.0] "(**) I just couldn't buy Ace Austin as Moxley's equal in-ring, a narrative this match seemed hellbent on pushing. There's a place for a smaller underdog going against a bigger, meaner champ, that's as pro wrestling as it gets, but that's not what this match felt like. Moxley and Ace went a little too blow-for-blow for my tastes. I can understand wanting to push Ace Austin, but when you give him too much too fast, he just ends up looking out of his depth. It doesn't help that a lot of his offense was just... baaaaad (What the hell was that weird double stomp thing? ). Should have been structured differently; probably should have been a little shorter, not a match I'd wanna rewatch any time soon."

[5.0] "I like Austin but I don't know that this was the right spot for him. Mox has been putting on awesome matches for the past few months and this was maybe my least favorite due to a lot of the contrived and even sloppy offensive spots from Ace. For a junior style spot match, I don't mind it as much but Mox had to look like a fool a couple times in order to be in position for a convoluted spot. It doesn't fit his cerebral match style at all. The finish from Mox was awesome though as usual."
DENDY wrote on 29.01.2026:
[6.0] "An enjoyable eliminator match which made Austin look surprisingly strong even in defeat. Moxley is really good in these simple matches and knows how to sell effectively in a short timeframe, Ace Austin displayed some mixed offence, some really good and some slightly sloppy. Moxley gets the win with a Death Rider as expected, nothing ground breaking or spectacular but an enjoyable watch overall."

Figure4Dragon wrote on 29.01.2026:
[3.0] "The first three minutes of this match, I highly enjoyed it. It had a pronounced hierarchy, with Moxley physically outmatching Austin from the outset and Ace having to fight from underneath, but then when the ad break took place and everything that came after, their distinguishable dynamic became muddled as Austin got far too much offense in and went into 50/50 territory. To my eye, this also lacked chemistry. Besides Austin having a few moments where things didn't go according to plan, there were points where it appeared like he'd get lost before Moxley directed him. *3/4"

[6.0] "A solid match between the two man. Ace Austin's style in the ring is decent but sometimes can look fake which was shown a couple of times during the match especially during that Rope Jump Wheelbarow Arm Drag so it did take a little away and Mox was as Mox as ever. A decent match. [***]"

[7.0] "Good Dynamite debut for Ace Austin, both had good chemistry and featured some good spots throughout with Moxley especially hitting some good stiff shots. Overall good match but nothing spectacular either, ending with a nice segment between Takeshita and Moxley to further the battle between the Death Riders and the Don Callis family. [***1/2]"
bigdaddyc369 wrote on 29.01.2026:
[6.0] "Just an average match honestly. Ace Austin gets some recognition on Dynamite as he puts on a solid match with one of the best in the company. Austin takes the loss here, but comes out better than he did walking in. Takeshita comes out after the match and tells Mox he is coming for his title."
robbyplaha wrote on 29.01.2026:
[7.0] "This was a solid match. Ace Austin of the Bang Bang Gang had his biggest match to date in AEW. Jon Moxley, I don't know if he's a heel or a tweaker. But this match was a lot of fun, filled with some cool spots. Jon Moxley won, and after the match, Konosuke Takeshita confronted Jon Moxley, then after we saw Davis and Doyle dismantle Jon Moxley, as the feud between the Death Riders and Don Callis Family continued."

[7.0] "Not amazing, but for Ace's first Dynamite match he looked good here. The crowd was chanting for him by the end despite Mox coming in over with them. Mox himself looked great here, every strike and lariat looked stiff as hell and he made Ace look good without looking weak. ***1/4"
