The opening ruled though, Eddie cutting him off and jumping straight into the fight felt perfectly on brand and woke the crowd up a bit. Eddie also looked slim, more than usual. The match itself was fine but nothing special, Gibson taking forever to set up his facebreaker completely killed the momentum."

Gibson had a good showing with a really nice top rope code breaker and a crazy dive to the outside giving it his all loved him telling Eddie he isn't good enoguh i don't know if the interfernce from Drake was needed though. Eddie looked decent in this match with some great strikes and selling to overcome the numbers to get the win. Nice to see Ortiz return to save Eddie. Overall a solid short hard hitting match. (***)"

[7.0] "This was an exciting little 5+ minute match. Eddie comes in hot and doesn't wait for the intros or music to be over before he starts brawling. That's exactly what he does best and what we want. It was nice having the added element of GYV teammate Drake at ringside helping out Gibson a few times. It makes sense that Gibson would need a little assistance vs Eddie in kayfabe. The wrestling is good and a quick pace - which is a good change for Eddie. A doubleteam attack post-match by GYV on the victorious Eddie leads to a shock return of Ortiz to make the save. That's a great reunion and I hope he's healthy for a long time. Fingers crossed he gets booked well too!"

Eddie was made to look pretty weak again; half the time we're being convinced he's a World Championship contender, half the time he's being out-struck and out-wrestled by a talent that AEW have made close to zero effort in establishing."

Here he showcased his toughness by straight up fighting it out with the Mad King with slaps, uppercuts, and chops. The match went by a bit too quick because there was a post-match angle with the return of Ortiz, but otherwise it was nice. not enough Shankly Gates though!"

Eddie & Gibson trading strikes was decent even if the slaps looked a bit pulled at times, but man what a dive from Zack here. Eddie overcomes the numbers advantage and gets a succinct win. I enjoyed this even if it was just a vehicle to return Ortiz. ***"
