Buddy Rose vs. Matt Borne

[6.0] "There's about 4 matches on Youtube that are all somehow this match, one is titled Rose vs Tony Borne but only has that for about 5 minutes before going into this and there's also a match these two have on the exact same date but in 1982 so bit confusing to confirm this specific one. Rose tries to leave here but Tony chases him back into the ring straight into Borne's babyface shine. He beats Rose pillar to post and goes for an airplane spin only to get hit with the Billy Robinson backbreaker only for 2 surprisingly. A second one does it after getting some crazy height on a back body drop. Rose works the back into the second fall and another couple backbreaker attempt sets up Borne's comeback and eventual finish with the airplane spin. Rose starts the third fall complaining about Borne grabbing his tights to win the second and then immediately gets caught doing it himself, love his commitment to being played up. The light-hearted side of things takes a turn when they start biting each other and Rose's head gets busted open bad, the close up they get in the post-match promo shows just how crazy it is. Borne really works the cut until Rip Oliver runs in for the DQ finish. Have heard their matches in '82 get even more bloody and brutal and this one is a hell of a start."

[9.0] "This is some good Territories wrestling right here. Buddy Rose puts on a heel masterclass, from his stalling to begin to his aggressive work on top to his cutoffs of Borne's signature moves to his arguments with the ref to his petty cartoonish tights-pulling routine to the way he stooges so well once he gets busted open in the third fall. Borne plays the lovable face role well here, getting had in the first fall but slowly building momentum by winning the second fall and after being subjected to nonsense and taunts from Rose in the third fall snaps. Biting the opponent's face until they bleed isn't very much a face move but after all the shit Rose had pulled and put Borne through for most of the match it feels deserved and the crowd is all for it, plus the beatdown after he starts gushing is tremendous. The DQ finish is a tad deflating but the real payoff/climax is that beatdown in the ropes anyway. ****1/4+"
