412.08.2025Wlliamofbaskerville3.0One of the most depressing matches ever. Theres nothing worse than being a wrestling fan and seeing your favourite wrestlers become old, broken down and staying on too long. Not everyone is guilty of this. Stone Cold knew his body was knackered so he quit while he was still at the top and before he started putting in embarrassing performances. But unfortunately alot didnt get the memo. Undertaker is one of them. He should have rode off into the sunset after his banger cell match with Brock but he kept coming back year after year. With matches even worse then the one before. I understand why he did this match. It was designed to be his retirement match but also put over Roman as the next big star in the company since he was Vince's golden boy. Of course fans rejected him so they thought beating up a middle aged broken down Taker for 20 minutes would be the ideal catalyst to get him over with fans which completely confirms Vince was completely out of touch. This match did nothing for no one. Roman didnt get over in fact he became even more hated by fans for beating up and retiring everyone's favourite legend. And this match did nothing for Taker. He was so unhappy with this being his final match he kept coming back and having even worse matches. Thankfully he finally found a good one to go out on with the Boneyard match but boy these late era Taker matches are depressing to watch. A throughly miserable main event of Wrestlemania and the second part in Roman's shitty main event trilogy

608.08.2025mitaalex1.0This was hard to watch. A broken Undertaker trying to power through one last ride, only to be met with a sluggish, messy match that went on far too long. Roman wasn't ready, Taker wasn't healthy, and the result was a slow-motion struggle from bell to bell. The only reason this gets a single point is out of respect for Taker for trying, for showing up, and for leaving his hat and gloves in the ring like a warrior. Everything else? Disgraceful.

803.08.2025GeneralKroth0.0This match is just incredibly unhappy. In the main event of Wrestlemania, Undertaker looks old, tired, and weak and eats a shitty loss to Roman Reigns who the crowd absolutely despises. The in ring work is slow and sloppy as Taker simply can't do it anymore, he looks like he's seconds away from passing out throughout the match. The only good moment is when Taker is speared through the Spanish announce table but it's buried beneath boring, uninspired wrestling that went on for far too long. Undertaker "retires" during the post match, which looking back he probably wishes he just hung up the boots here for real.
927.07.2025Ajay003290.0The match started around midnight, past the 6 hours runtime of the PPV and the crowd already dead. Despite taker trying to work hard, he is not physically fit for the match and roman is unable to carry taker. The No DQ match doesn't work in favour here also. The agenda of pushing Reigns as the top babyface was falling flat and having him wrestle legends past their primes doesn't prove anything. Well the post match pseudo retirement segment would have made anyone cry and this would have been better if taker didn't return the next year. Simply a horrible main event

1118.07.2025FearlesSVBalor6122.0Another handled Roman's mania main event sucked, this match proved Roman is not that main guy as company presented, having stinkers with Triple H, The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar in consecutive three Mania, even those opponents had their faults. Roman was never good enough to carry others in the ring. [*1/4]

1407.06.2025EliasAC0.0Roman Reigns vs Undertaker was just sad and hard to watch, this match is just pitiful, it was too long and doesn't deserve to be in main event, this match didn't help Reigns at that point and didn't help Undertaker much either. Awful match, the post-match was pointless as we know what happens later.

2027.04.2025KKeanel5.0Taker just wasn't able to do a 20+ minutes spectacles with a decent action anymore. Their tried to fill this time with Roman's sneaking at the beginning, however this botched Hell's Gate was simply sad to watch. Right winner, however this emotional farewell at the end should be a legimitate farewell for good.
2126.04.2025JayTheTaz0.0Atrocious in every way. Reigns is awful and had no business being in the ring with Taker at WrestleMania. No one wanted it and it ended up being a pointless failure. Reigns beat Taker after a total stinker that is completely unmemorable and the fact that this was presented as Taker's retirement match (before he returned) is complete disrespect. Awful match, Reigns did not deserve this and it ruined what could've been a phenomenal WrestleMania that year. Hate this match with a burning passion.

2422.04.2025icewall Not a perfect match, but it brought an emotional realism that this kind of match needed. Romans' performance is incredible.

2618.04.2025Geo933.0This is a tough one to rate. On one hand this is a slow and botch-filled match (the tombstone reversal being one of the most awkward and painful botches I've ever seen). On the other hand, there's some definite emotion and storytelling here, especially towards the end. It all feels a bit wasted though because I truly feel that Roman Reigns should've turned heel in this match. At the point Undertaker kept kicking out of spears, Reigns should've snapped. But instead we get this kinda awkward and sad, "Aw shucks, I don't wanna put you down, but I will, " thing going on. So overall, despite some good storytelling later on in the match, and the emotional post-match with Taker (which was ruined anyway, because this wasn't his last match), I'd say the negatives outweighed the positives in this one. Not even a special commentary appearance by Jim Ross can help this.

2816.04.2025AndyUK7.0I've never really got the hate for this match because I honestly think it works as a story. I know people didn't want Roman to retire Taker and there's the small tombstone botch but other than that is anything really that bad? Of course it's not an epic five star match and Taker's not in great shape but that's the story the match is telling anyway. It's about a guy trying to give a performance but not having it anymore which makes it very meta. The finishing sequence and the way he tries to do the sit up but can't anymore and the stuff with him leaving his gear in the ring would've been a really good ending for the character. I was there live in Orlando and I still believe this should have been his retirement match.

3112.04.2025Kugenesan14.0I think over time this match made sense both in real life and kayfabe. This was truly sad to witness. A clueless, broken man trying to give whatever he had left. I got to say even before this match was announced, he did not look great. He was not in a good ring shape. That was super obvious. Such a disappointing match that was somehow poetic too. That end credit scene was and is one of the best moments in wrestling history.

3816.03.2025Gravelord3.0Yeesh, I remember physically cringing while I watched this match live and in living colour. Upon finally rewatching it, I found it to be even more intolerable. Roman was trying his best here, but there was no salvaging it given the Undertaker's visibly decrepit condition. He was limping only five minutes into the match and was audibly gasping for air after doing his hitherto usual shtick. I can't believe he actually took a bump through the Spanish announce table. You can't fault him for wanting to have a classic match to finally hang his hat on; alas, this match was perfect demonstration of why willing something does not mean it will transpire. I feel like the crowd started to feel as uncomfortable as I was watching by the end of the bout. There was definitely an audible shock at just how broken down a wrestler many of them had probably watched since they were children had become. Sadly, the spot which saw Reigns failing to get a visibly struggling Undertaker up for a Tombstone piledriver of his own was the most notable highlight of the match, and will be the thing I remember whenever I think of this match because it was a truly perfect visualization of everything wrong with it. The ending being a callback to Shawn Michaels' (at the time) last match with the Undertaker at WM26 was most fitting, but not at all for the reasons it was intended to be. That was a magical moment. You desperately wanted for HBK to make his comeback for the chance of just a few more dream matches; you wanted for HBK to fire-up, hit the sweet chin music, and prolong his legendary career even if you knew in the back of your mind that nothing can last forever thanks to father time. Unfortunately, that same magic was all but gone by the end of this match. There were no illusions of any more dream matches featuring the Undertaker by this match's conclusion. You just wanted for it to be over as soon as possible to spare a legend any further embarrassment. *3/4

4014.03.2025user3024.0Roman did his best to get Undertaker through this match, there was absolutely no reason Undertaker should've been going 23 minutes at this point in his career. It probably also should've been his last match, but I do understand the allure of wanting to end on a high note, as he did for Shawn Michaels and as Shawn Michaels did for Ric Flair. This should've been the match to break the streak.

4206.03.2025bigredtalk895.0I'm glad this wasn't the Undertakers farewell, it came off poorly at the time and has aged even worse. At this point in his career, they could have had an okay match if it were 10 minutes shorter, but the Undertaker was simply too broken at the time to go 25 minutes and no one wanted to see Taker lose again at Mania, awful showing.

5321.01.2025RandomWrestlingReview7.0This is possibly the most I have deviated from the average rating in all the ratings I have given. For me this is a perfectly decent story of the young upstart Reigns, attempting to unseat the old veteran 'Taker. WWE saw the way the crowd had reacted to Reigns the previous year, and instead leaned into it and positioned him as the antagonist, relying on Taker's natural popularity to carry this which I felt it did. There was a slow inevitability to the way Undertaker was going to be beaten, but in a really effective way. Yes the botches towards the end stood out, but I think it is unfair to suggest that was indicative of the whole match- it wasn't.

5629.12.2024brooksavage20042.0It's hard to really rate this match and call it bad, it's just depressing. Undertaker showed his age has gotten to him, it made Roman looked sad and even more bad then he already was to the fans, the no holds barred stipulation added nothing to the match overall it's just again depressing. But the final shot after the match with Undertaker going "Woah, this is really the end of my road.", leaving his hat and trench coat in the ring, going up the ramp and descending down as it lights up is just so peotic.

5802.12.2024PhillyHarden7.0The atmosphere, JR on the call, Cole playing it good and JBL being solid, the old school feel, storytelling, lot on point here. I understand the criticisms people have but Taker is still running the ropes HARD and selling here. The reverse tombstone spot (that got badly botched here) never worked after Mania 28, did it?

6409.11.2024arkhamoutlaw106.0Roman Reigns is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world and he made the true retirement match for the Undertaker an absolute banger, with both men giving their entire bodies and souls to getting over the final gunslinger narrative. A few botches only added to the image of Undertaker not having it in him anymore and made the ending more genuinely emotional. It? s sad that Taker decided to rewrite one of his greatest moments at the end of this show, the desire to make a better match to live up to his career standards which he never did, almost takes away from the power of his supposed retirement. Still, even with the disappointing years that followed, nothing can take away from the power of the hat and coat left in the ring

7412.09.2024maven lover3.0A yet-to-be-accepted Reigns engages in a 23 (twenty-three! ) minute slogfest & ultimately defeats an over-the-hill Undertaker. The pace is glacial & the stuff that both participants kick out of here is just ridiculous. The spear through the announce table was pretty much the only spot that stood out to me.

8401.08.2024uselessdollthing0.0Roman got alot of the go way heat in this but he genuinely tries to make this work, only for him to give up because there's no way he was carrying broken down old man Taker in this match. Vince is a idiot for booking this match and Taker's a idiot for not doing anything in his power to stop it. He tried to put over Reigns but ended up burying him by having such a horrible performance. Doesn't help that this is for some reason, over 20 minutes and just turns into more and more of a car crash as it goes on.
8525.07.2024JacobTheSnakob4.0Its just a bit sad isn't it. I know they wanted Roman to be THE guy and being one of only two people to beat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania is quite a good way to help that, it kind of deminishes Lesnars win at Mania 30. Glad it wasn't Takers actual last match though.
8624.07.2024Pineapple1.0While this match starts off engaging, it rapidly slows down and ultimately falls off completely after Roman's multiple attempts (botches) to tombstone Undertaker. From this point on, it's just one-sided finisher spam with an utterly disengaged crowd.
