But this match is undeniably messy and not really in the way I like, in that it's unclear how to even win the match and the referee stuff felt out of place and Dreamer is banged up and, well, he's Dreamer so you only get so much. Not bad but for a PPV pretty mediocre effort."

Supposedly this was a flag match, but this definitely was not a traditional flag match in any universe. The longer the match went on, I was trying to guess how you were even supposed to win this match. Well ...I still don't know, as it was neither by pinfall as all the referees got taken out, even Beulah trying counting the falls for a while, no poles here to run them up either. My idea was to throw in the flag like you'd throw in a towel for your guy. But I guess the guy not moving anymore loses I guess? as this became an absolute cluster and I have no earthly idea what happened in the end. I bet the WWF must have loved all this publicity though."

Dreamer was carrying a bunch of injuries and could barely move, but RVD worked his butt off to carry him, and the storyline with the various refs fighting, and interference from wrestlers form both WWF and WCW (although Richards had just left them) added to the stakes for the interpromotion battle. The non-finish also made sense as it let the battle continue."

Also loved the transition into thr Sabu/Sandman match by just having Sandman come out and do his long entrance while Sabu and RVD just stand there in the ring."

It's an overbooked mess (3 refs get low blowed? Really? Really? ) and ends with a no contest (actually Fonzie just declaring RVD the winner, whatever). Pointless match that is not recommended in the slightest."

There were eight run-ins, no time for anything to actually mean anything, and no actual finish. to what should have been the blow off to a huge feud. I honestly believe after watching this that in 1997, Paul Heyman would have overbooked a funeral."
