[8.0] "So this match is very ahead of its time in the landscape of American indie wrestling, like... absurdly so. You can see the DNA of this match in 2000s ROH, 2010s PWG, and AEW today. But that's where the small issue in this match lies to me, I've seen it done so many times and I've seen it done better. Undoubtedly entertaining and influential, I'm still a sucker for these types of action-packed six-man tags and the ECW vibes are unmatched. This must have been mindblowing to American wrestling fans at the time but now it feels a bit rudimentary."

I was only familiar with taka and sasuke in the beginning. i came out of this match a fan of all six men. you could honestly place this match in todays time, espescially with that head scissors move to the outside. I'd argue this is a go to match if you were introducing one to wrestling."

Absolute electric stuff from all 6 guys, my fave was Hamada, love a powerhouse beef lad that can do all the cool flashy stuff but the shine on all these lads was awesome. Loved it, no complaints."

[6.0] "Ironically one of the very few proper lucha style Tag Team Matches I've seen, as back in AAA all three heels would have been working on one babyface for 5 minutes straight without his partners interfering. It was very enjoyable to watch and the pace never really dropped down. Some fantastically looking moves and counters, a lot of high-flying stuff from the top shelf and believable false finishes - just a lot of fun without insulting anybody's inteligence."
Sweet Fighter V wrote on 25.09.2024:
[8.0] "This match is simply outrageous, especially for its time. The action is so damn crisp and innovative, with an absurd amount of wicked stuffs, freaky athleticism on display, amazing team work, and it never stops. This is borderline overkill, but so damn fun and such a standout moment in ECW history; the day six Japanese guys stole the show on an ECW PPV. [ < 8.5/10 ] **** 1/4"

HugoRoids wrote on 25.05.2024:
[10.0] "If you put this match on current day NXT nobody would notice. These guys were all so ahead of their time. This is 16 minutes of non stop fantastic action. There actually isnt a single second where there isnt something happening and that something is always so damn good. Pretty much every move you can think of is done here and they all sell everything like its the end of their lives. The crowd is super into it with each powerbomb, driver, dropkick, or whatever other move is performed so perfectly that there were times I thought they got injured. Its just so blazingly fast that you almost cant even keep up. I really loved this match and I need to see these guys other stuff because this is the best wrestling match Ive seen from ECW."

[8.0] "Such a fun match. Really fast-paced and physical, with lots of great athleticism on display. bWo Japan had a lot of great heel moments, too. I love how loud the stomps on the ring are, which only enhances all the bumps. Entertaining from start to finish."
bosspedal wrote on 12.04.2024:
[6.0] "A lot of good moves and action (like the baseball slide to headscissors on the outside), but it went too long for my taste. Everyone in the match is obviously very talented but I have never really clicked with this overbooked, all-out style of wrestling. I did really appreciate the ECW fans throwing streamers at the beginning of the match, that was a nice touch."
Ruthless Attitude wrote on 23.03.2024:
[9.0] "Absolutely awesome match. The Michonoku Pro guys absolutely killed it out there and it was really fun to watch the crazy amount of high spots in the match as well as seeing how the momentum would shift from one way to another. The ECW fans loved them even though they probably wouldn't have been well known to a casual audience and just popped for everything and the booking allowed them to their best stuff which was awesome."

Six peak junior heavyweights doing a hyper-fast combination of lucha and puro, what's not to love? bWo Japan has some amazing tag and trios moves, with their triple powerbomb looking more vicious than anything the Shield has ever done."

[10.0] "The first time I watched this, I wasn't as into it as a lot of other people, I was also like 15 and didn't really care for all these guys save for maybe Taka. Now that I'm older and have watched this on repeat viewings, it's absolutely breathtaking. This is a prototype of the Dragon Six Man Tag ROH did back in 2006, nearly 9 years later. Here we have some crazy offense and some of it is brutally stiff, this is what Michinoku Pro was all about, and they got to do it in America in front of a ruckus crowd. There is a part where Sasuke does mess up, but they quickly recovered and it was just as quickly forgotten about because of crazy they were going. Super ahead of it's time, one of the best spotfest matches."

[8.0] "This is one of those matches where you can just turn off your brain and enjoy the action. There's no need to break this one down too deeply. It's more Michinoku Pro multi-man action presented to a mostly virgin audience. Dick Togo might have the best seaton splashes in all of wrestling and he brought variety to this match by being the sole powerhouse of the match. Gran Hamada might look like an old man, but that makes it even more impressive when he moves around the ring like he's Rey Mysterio. Yakushiji gets heckled with "Power Ranger" chants, but he eventually shuts down his detractors by hitting some awesome cruiserweight moves and taking some nasty head drops. BWO does all their usual heel spots but doesn't get as much reaction as they did during their first ECW match. I'd say this is slightly better than the first M-Pro ECW match as they made better use of the time they are given and the pace of this gradually gets quicker as the match progresses."

[9.0] "Random trios matches from other promotions were the in thing for PPVs at this point, although more often with Mexican rather than Japanese wrestlers. One of these teams was the Japanese contingent of the BWO, at least for this night. Joey Styles did an excellent job of learning about the wrestlers, the style and the promotion they came from - something other commentators of the time could have learned from. The match was of course excellent, as you'd expect if you recognise any of the names involved, only suffering from a lack of context. It was one of the best matches ECW ever had, and was pretty much a basic exhibition match by the participants - it's a genuine shame no promotion had a full crossover with Japan at this point and combined American booking style with Japanese wrestling ability. I'm not sure how much the crowd here appreciated the display though, it wasn't really the type of "extreme" they were after."

[9.0] "Fast-paced and lots of fun! Definitely the cream of the crop as far as 6-man tag matches are concerned. Briskly paced, tons of action, really well-executed by all. My only qualms are that I wouldn't have minded a longer match with more spots (because it was so fun! ), and that I noticed guys were in the ring and wrestling that very obviously had not tagged out. Where's the illusion? ****1/2."

[7.0] "A very fun spotfest. I felt it went a little too long, but there were lots of great power moves and high-flying moves from all 6 men and the rather quick pacing meant that there was always something exciting happening to keep your attention. Most of the spots felt redundant after a while, as is customary for a spotfest, but that didn't take away from the skills on display. ***3/4"

[10.0] "Fantastic match, enhanced by the unique environment of a bunch of intensely diehard fans seeing what must have been their first live Japanese match. Amazing of ECW to host these guys, and they definitely proved they were well worth whatever the cost was, these guys go all out and dazzle the crowd with tons of great sequences, including a couple of breath taking dives. Love the action here, the lucha-resu style these guys were showcasing would be tremendously influential over the next 20 years (yes, right up to today! )."

[10.0] "It's ironic that the best match of ECW's first PPV, Barely Legal, didn't feature any ECW wrestlers, rather it featured 6 Japanese wrestlers who worked for Michinoku Pro Wrestling. The match included Gran Hamada, the 1st Japanese wrestler to work in a lucha libre style, and who showed incredible agility for a 46 year old. As well as Taka Michinoku, the most sought after junior heavyweight in the world at the time, Dick Togo, 1 of the most well polished wrestlers in the world, and of course the legendary owner of Michinoku Pro, The Great Sasuke. The match itself was a well made, fast paced spotfest that wowed anybody who saw it, and today still holds up as being an excellent and fun match."
