Yeah, maybe the match went better than the original roster to some extent, but my god, the ending of the match is what makes everyone get pissed off about this match. What kind of ending is that? Maybe the only ending I've seen worse than this was Captain America 4."

[10.0] "EVOLVE, started life as an independent promotion in 2010, and had some very fine matches from time to time. In the late 10s they made the highly questionable decision of becoming associated with WWE during their ill-fated period of gobbling up indie promotions, then when that shaky model collapsed they predictably bit the dust when the pandemic hit. I guess WWE owns the rights now because they earlier this year they restarted it as a WWE brand, a kind of second developmental brand after NXT (actually, third after NXT Level Up? fourth maybe after LFG? could it literally be the 5th one they have if you count TNA? ). All part of the quest to produce more content that any wrestling fan could possibly cram down their gullet. Anyway, suffice to say my interest in WWE EVOLVE has been exactly zero since they started, but suddenly I noticed a match between two women I've never heard of getting a lot of praise, and I thought, why not? Sometimes WWE produces good stuff almost by accident on their lower brands, since the meddlers up top are less likely to foul things up with their interference. Whatever the reason I'm very glad I checked this out, because WOW, just WOW. Both of these women only debuted in 2024 and trained directly through the Performance Center, which means they were probably taught by Sara Del Rey which does explain a few things. But still, I was not prepared for just how great this would be. These two women came at each other HARD and FAST. I had a slight sense that perhaps the match had been exhaustively rehearsed but even if it was, in this case it worked out because they managed to pull off some truly phenomenal sequences without falling into that Ospreay-territory where it felt rote or overly choreographed. It was elaborate at times but never at the expense of feeling genuinely violent and highly physical, these two were brutal with each other, just shockingly vicious. Can't recall the last time I saw a match quite like this under any WWE banner, like it didn't break the mold of wrestling but it just felt very raw, not WWE Raw at all but like it was on the rough edge of wrestling. Perhaps best of all, this was a fast paced war that clocked in at only about 10 minutes and didn't need to got a single moment longer. I was shocked by how much I liked this. My #3 WWE match of the year, and #33 on my MOTY list."

[8.0] "A terrific, hi-octane sprint. Kendal has such a distinctive & dynamic style and Armstrong was the perfect powerhouse foil for her here. Compared to some of the sluggish or overly contrived bouts I've seen lately, this one felt like a genuine battle ***3/4"

[8.0] "Amazing match. I hadn't heard much about either women but they both impressed here. Fast paced, high intensity sprint with some breathtaking moments. Kali Armstrong has star quality, reminds me of when I saw Bianca Belair in the Mae Young Classic, just oozing charisma and power. Armstrong had some devastating powerslams in this that were so pinpoint clean that everything looked like a match ender. Kendal Grey, not quite at Armstrong's level, looked great as babyface scratching and clawing her way through the match with some beautiful looking evasion and reversals, her timing was excellent. Lost a few points from Grey as her facials aren't the best and she sometimes didn't really sell the moment but this match rivaled some of the best matches from the main roster recently and Armstrong could easily move up to the NXT roster with ease in my opinion."

[9.0] "It's kinda insane that this is an EVOLVE match with some developmental talent. Both these women have only been wrestling for 2 years. I'm sure they were given time to put the match together, but still. Both Kendal Grey and Kali Armstrong are going ot be main event players within the next 2-3 years. A really good match that has some amazing chemistry between the two of them. I wouldn't be surprised if this rivalry goes on for their entire careers, and this is seen as the first spark in what will become the big event of WrestleMania 45."

[9.0] "Amazing match! I'm shocked this happened on EVOLVE, the quality of this match was as good as main roster PLE one. Both women are definitely the future of WWE - Kali's strength and INSANE charisma are gonna lead her to big things, same thing with Kendal and her already great in-ring abilities - the future is secured! It was very fast paced, every move made sense and the chemistry was off charts + it was under 10 minutes which makes this even more impressive. Grey winning was a good call, let her have this belt for a few months and then call her up cause she's gonna waste time on EVOLVE and as for Armstrong, i hope her call up is going to be VERY soon cause she's more than ready. ****, 25"

[9.0] "Man what a great match. Kendal Grey is a future world champion no doubts, and Kali Armstrong likely is too. She obviously doesn't have the comedic timing of kurt angle (though tbf I haven't seen a lot of her angles) but I really think Kendal Grey could ve the female Kurt Angle. I can't recall the last time I saw an american womens wrestler who picked it up as fast as her. You can tell they had planned this match out a lot in advance, but not in a way that detracted from the quality. Very logical stuff and a great finish. I love seeing an awesome match that is below 10 minutes. It's genuinely baffling to me that this took place in the developmentals developmental. Match had great heat too, you could tell the crowd was surprised by how good it was."

[8.0] "What a great match. The best on evolve so far. These two women are NXT ready. They shouldn't be wasting their time on Evolve. They need to start cutting promos and getting involved in emotional storylines as soon as possible. It's true what the say about the PC women compared to the male athletes in the PC."

[10.0] "An absolutely insane and amazing match between two WWE developmental talents. The fact that it took place on a developmental brand for a developmental brand is even more amazing. They are both incredibly talented, especially Kendal. I see a huge, wonderful future for her. Incredible talent."

[9.0] "This match stood out. It was razor-sharp, with both Kali Armstrong and Kendal Grey delivering performances that felt like they belonged on a bigger stage. The way Grey countered Armstrong's finishing "Kali Connection" into a pin and then landed a powerslam to seal the deal felt dramatic, surprising, and earned. Kali looked dominant earlier, but when Grey made her comeback, it had an urgency and weight that made me lean forward. It left me thinking Grey is legit, and kudos to both for making the title change feel like a milestone."

[8.0] "A very enjoyable match that would rank as the best match on WWE EVOLVE since the show began. Good performances by both wrestlers here. The NXT crowd were very behind Kendal throughout and the match picked up strongly in the closing stretch. The title change felt earned and was the right choice to main event the first WWE EVOLVE Special."
