The crowd was giving it all for every Malik offense, even if it was just a simple punch. He had time to shine with some high flying, like a top rope moonsault to the floor, a springboard hurricanrana or a standing 450º senton. Adam Maxted did well his role to put over Malik, even if his offense at times was very basic. I liked his second rope blockbuster. Malik wins with a knee strike to the head into the Last Gear. Nice match, but I think a faster pace and shorter lenght would have made it better."
[5.0] "First match of the first show and this is not a great showcase. Kevin Malik being there obviously makes sense given his style. But he needed a far more seasoned veteran to guide him through this match. Maxted does little heel work in the beginning but stops rather immediately. Neither guy really showcases character work. Crowd is able to get behind Malik but from my viewpoint this is simply not a match I'm going to remember in an hour. Malik hits a nice finish and most of his high flying moves go off without problem, except for the poor connection on the moonsault senton. But moves like that are just always going to look that way."

[6.0] "Fine match. Both guys were fine. Kevin has potential but right now, he's rather green. His strikers are not any good. He can dive. The match itself was way too long. Could have been a good seven to ten minute match. Overall, a fine, inoffensive opening match."
