Drilla Moloney vs. YOSHI-HASHI

[6.0] "Not a bad match here, but also one that was largely unmemorable. Not mad at YOSHI-HASHI beating Moloney in the tournament, especially since I don't really see Moloney making it past the block stage, unfortunately. I will say that YOSHI-HASHI getting three wins in a row to start things off was a little unexpected."

[3.0] "Almost nothing they did seemed to inform anything that followed. They start of with a chop off and somehow get into a chplop off near the end and it felt like nothing of consequence had happened in between."

[5.0] "I like a good chop battle, and this match started off with a great one. The match had a classic slow build to a nice go home with, for me, an unexpected result. SINGLES RECORD: YOSHI-HASHI 1-0"

[5.0] "Every time I watch a YOSHI-HASHI singles match, I think, "Ah, that was a perfectly competent wrestling match, " and then I immediately forget nearly everything about it. This was no different. I'm glad there are people that YOSHI-HASHI works for, but I will never be one of them."

[4.0] "Couldn't get into this one. Kinda dull. And Yoshi-goddamn-Hashi won. Fuck. This boring ass dude is gonna have an 8-point minimum G1 and that feels so wrong. Drilla tried here, but he could not elevate New Japan's most below average man. **"

[6.0] "(Grade:C/***) Not a bad start to the G1 Climax matches, I find Drilla work to be enjoyable some might think differently yet he fits this style more especially his size. Yoshi-Hashi so far has been dominating and could lead to a Fairly Tale ending for him I would hope only time will tell."

[4.0] "YOSHI-HASHI really tired but Drilla Moloney is one of the most boring wrestlers in the world today, he's too inauthentic and simply comes off as a CAW or a casual fan's idea of a pro wrestler rather than a complete professional wrestler, mid"

[7.0] "Surprised this didn't score higher. I thought these two really put on a good performance. Moloney's best work for me and a classic firey G1 performance from YH. Very enjoyable. ***3/4"

[4.0] "Drilla Moloney is having an absolutely awful G1 tour. His matches have been meandering, aimless, trite "slow it down kid" style drivel - not helped by the fact he's far and away the least over wrestler in the field. This was no exception. They tried to get something going by throwing bombs, but it was never paced well nor in the right parts of the match. So the chop battles seemed more like killing time than testing mettle. Yoshi-Hashi has been having a pretty decent-to-good tournament run, but there's only so much you can do when partnered with Drilla right now it seems. 2 stars."

[4.0] "Drilla matches do absolutely nothing for me. I guess this is his best of the tournament so far but like that's not exactly saying much considering his other matches. This was mostly boring with a decent final sequence. The better wrestler won at least. **1/4"

[6.0] "Just a pretty well done average match. It was engaging but it never felt like it got out of the lower gears for me to be honest. There were some nice chops in this also i enjoyed the finishing sequence after Maloney hit the gore and tried for a Drilla killer everything after that was fun to watch. I did not expect Yoshi to have 6 points after 3 matches but there we are. Overall just your normal standard well done 10 minute TV match which it felt a bit underwhelmeing for a match for clear top spot in B block. (***)"

[6.0] "This was about as close to an average G1 match as you could get really, not bad by any stretch and actually quite engaging, but it did not feel all that fresh or special and is not a match I will remember. Moloney looked pretty good and showed some more unique offence, and YH was as reliable as ever and put on a good outing. YOSHI-HASHI picked up the win and looks pretty strong in the G1 so far, but yeah not one to seek out but also it is a fun 10 minute bout."

[5.0] "This match was fine, not a lot to write about but I liked the chop exchanges. Both were solid in a standard match."

[7.0] "Fun little match. Both guys looked really well and albeit a bit slow to start, they eventually found their footing and created some nice spots. The Canadian destroyer spot was innovative, and I liked the match."

[7.0] "YOSHI-HASHI going 3-0 wasn't in my bingo card, can't really tell if there is something for him. Overall the action was incredibly crisp even though they had to find some chemistry at first. ***1/2"

[8.0] "The match for the control of the block. And man it was a battle. The chops by Moloney resonate through the arena every time. Sad that my boy lost the match and the 1st place today, but hey, that's only the beginning. Very good match."

[5.0] "***1/4 normal match, interesting pace, some interesting sequences, normal chemistry, normal intensity, and a normal ending. Yoshi surprises again and goes undefeated 3-0, now I see it more likely that he will advance as 3rd in the group, since he will face ZSJ on the last day and thus they will fight perhaps in Destruction for the IWGP"

[6.0] "A match between the two guys at the top of the block with Yoshi Hashi getting the win, and control of the block. A pretty good match between these two with great counters and finishing sequence. Yoshi Hashi is at the top and I'm interested to see how long it lasts."

[6.0] "Alright match, standard TV affair as I like to put it. Thought these guys flashed that they could go to a higher gear towards the end but just never reached that point. Some interesting counter ideas in there but just never done in a satisfying way. Alright filler match, surprised Yoshi-Hashi has 6 points already."

[7.0] "Fun showing between the two and stoked to see Yoshi-Hashi getting the showing he's had now leading his group! Drilla has been pretty disappointing so far, especially in the Shota match, but this was a greatly improved performance so hopefully he builds on this."

[6.0] "Yoshi Hashi being 3/3 right now is really funny but i lowkey respect it. The match itself was pretty good, some hard hitting chops, good move execution, so i had fun watching it but at the end of the day, i have to give it a fair rating because it was nothing crazy."

[6.0] "A good showing between 2 of the lower card G1 participants. The chops of Drilla Moloney looks devastating, and Yoshi-Hashi fire was great. It's was not a high profile looking match, but I feel both of these man works hard to prove people wrong. YOSHI-HASHI being undefeated in the beginning was not expected"

[7.0] "YOSHI-HASHI sweeping through the block has my pick ems crying, but it's nice to see him doing it for his fallen comrade Goto. This was both his and Drilla's best match so far. The crowd was hot, strike exchanges were great, and the finishing sequence was awesome. ***1/2"

[6.0] "Finally a good match for Drilla Moloney. Yoshi-Hashi with 3 wins in a row. The crowd was hot for this one. Was a fun little time. Hard strikes and all that comes with a standard G1 Climax match. Nothing else much to say about this. Hope Drilla doesn't stink it up again after this one."
