Said sloppy spots were mostly due to Lyra's overly complicated holds (so complicated she confused herself one or two times). That's not to say that she hasn't improved as a wrestler both in-ring and personality-wise. She definitely has but there's still much room for growth. Bayley on the other hand was almost flawless throughout the match. Also I thought the match was slightly longer than it needed to be."

Lyra Valkyria has been a breath of fresh air in that department, providing a crunchy physicality that for all its star-power, this division (and show) isn't always blessed with. Gradually, Bayley has organically trended in that direction also, leaning more on rough edges as her athleticism and speed fade. It's been a natural, wonderful addition to her prior game, a more suited sibling to the usual detail work and pacing. She visibly relishes this matchup too, embracing the challenge and meeting Valkyria head on, from the mat wrestling to the strike exchanges. Even with a slightly hurried stipulation and some spotty Lyra selling, one of the best TV matches of 2025 thus far. ****1/4"
[8.0] "The strongest match on the show by far. The night after delivering an awesome opener on Evolution with Becky Lynch, these two come and put on another really good match here. Super stoked that this got the amount of time that it did. It does suck that Bayley had to take another loss, but I'm not against pushing Valkyria whatsoever."
[7.0] "Hats off to both wrestlers here, the majority of my problems with the match are production/structure based. A lot of little things like smoke fog still rolling into the ring a minute after the bell to start the match, they missed Bayley's transition to the crossface to show people's reaction, and I have no idea how many of these commercial breaks were actually real or not, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that some of the pauses were them returning from break, but good god it kills the momentum every time and they did it like six times in the match. Bottom line, there surely has to be more pleasant matches to watch from these two, because the overall production here sucked."

[10.0] "Bit strange to think, considering all the negative stuff WWE is associated with lately, that they still present such a strong women's division, probably the strongest outside of Japan. Contradictions aside, this was another great example of just how well the top women in the promotion can perform, stealing the show on this episode of Raw with relative ease. Coming the night after Becky Lynch retained the women's IC title at Evolution in a three way including both of these women, it was clear a 1 vs. 1 shot was needed, but who would get it? Both had a claim, the OG Horsewoman of NXT Bayley and the hot relative newcomer Valkyria. This is their fourth singles meeting, with a record of 1-1-1, so why not add an extra fall just to make sure we get a decisive winner off these closely matched wrestlers? The match is damn good as you would expect, these two show strong chemistry and hold the match together with solid wrestling and well placed character beats, presented Bayley as the capable yet perhaps slightly insecure veteran looking to overturn a recent string of losses, and Valkyria as the less experienced yet highly motivated fighter looking to get back at Becky and settle a score that is in part a personal one. They showed a lot of chemistry once again and had their best match yet, with Bayley pulling ahead early with a fast fall only to eventually lose the battle of attrition to Valkyria. There's heavy competition this year but this still clocks in at #90 on my list to date, and #14 in terms of WWE specifically."
[10.0] "TV match of the year contender, Bayley & Lyra put on a wrestling clinic that had me super hyped up. 2 out of 3 matches are very hard to do because they get predictable & you know it's going to reach a third fall but between that & the tough babyface vs babyface situation the two of them just said watch this. The back & fourth towards the end was so damn good, just elite chemistry."
[7.0] "[7.0] I hate when the 2 first falls are just time fillers that end in ways an one fall match would never and then the third one it's just a normal match. I find it so counterproductive. Judging just the third, it was pretty good. Lyra is having an awesome year."
[7.0] "Better and more focused than their previous one-on-one match. The story here is clear and is conveyed by each woman's physicality. An established wrestler comes out to show an up-and-comer what it takes to make it. Bayley frustrates Lyra and gets her with a surprise pinfall for the first. The second fall shows Lyra with more aggression, but after she hurts her back, things seem really dull for the former Intercontinental champion. But she gets her own back on Bayley with a surprise pin of her own for the second. The third fall has a very important part of it missing from the TV emission. We really have no clue how Lyra's legwork starts. One has to suppose that it is done in a similar way as Bayley's work on her back did, but it would sure be nice to see the nuances of the moment. Does the leg work from Valkyria inform the finish? Not really, even if Bayley's limb selling is very good (I'll almost say it is her forte). Very definitive finish that almost elevates the match after the lack of strong booking decisions in regards to this matchup."

It was done so well i mean it was an amazing 2/3 falls match. Personally loved the early fall on lyra from bayley really put her back against the wall and allowed her to over come two straight falls which was awesome. By the end of it the crowd was loosing there mind for this match and genuinely lyra is getting over this year and they feud with becky is a huge help for it. But there match as summerslam has to be different it is there third this year and it HAS to have a stipulation. Give me a 30 minute iron woman match please it would legit be iconic and the feud deserves a stipulation blow off and it is your second biggest show of the year so go all out. 4.25 stars"

Lyra was not enough focused before that pin, which served as a reminder. The match was fucking awesome. The only detail is how Lyra gets up at the end of the match after a huge hit on her damaged back and the submission. But beside this tiny detail, congrats ladies."
[8.0] "Some have criticized Bailey's quick fall, but that's the whole story of the match: the star versus the underdog who comes back into the match. Bailey's throw on Lyra on the stairs was very brutal and a good variation of her usual hold. This rivalry puts Lyra in the spotlight as well as the title. The Becky Lyra match will probably be good too."
[9.0] "For less than 24 hours, we got another banger on the Women's Intercontinental Championship feud. Lyra and Bayley are wrestling soulmates. Whenever they're in the ring together, they put on a classic. The crowd also loves both of them. I feel so bad for Bayley tho, she deserves so much better."
[9.0] "Excellent match. These two weren't content to just have a MOTY contender last night, they thought they'd go for TV MOTY here, too. I've said Iyo is the best wrestler in the world for a little bit now, and these two are battling it out for #2 women in WWE. They both have a really solid technical base combining with stiff striking, and they brought both here. The first fall was a simple roll up which I would've slightly preferred if there was a handful of tights, but they told the story well of Lyra getting too emotional following the slap and it's established over the past few weeks that these two are capable of winning that way. Second fall was a really nice counter from Lyra for a quick pin. I appreciate them not using their biggest moves on the first two falls as it left somewhere to go. They then continued to give us everything else they had. Lyra's dropkick through the ropes always looks like it nails her opponent and I love her gutwrench powerbomb (and it looked particularly devastating here). Bayley mixed up her usual elbow drop by hitting it to the back of Lyra. She then nearly got the win with the crossface before Lyra escaped into a quick Nightwing for the win. All the action was great but what really made this fantastic was how it was structured; from the roll up wins first up saving them stuff for the third fall, to the placement of the ad breaks, this was pretty much the perfect TV match. Delighted with the winner, too, as Lyra's rise since winning the IC has been monumental and as a fan since her NXT UK days, it's great to see."
[7.0] "Lyra is someone I really enjoy in the ring, she's very good. The first fall honestly looked pretty stupid to me -- she gets the three count after a slap, I don't know. Bayley's offense is stiff as fuck, she absolutely destroys her opponent. Honestly, both of them have very entertaining offense overall. I liked the second fall more, although I'm surprised we got to 1-1 without any big moves, but it was a good counter that made Lyra look strong. Both apron bumps -- the backdrop and the suplex -- looked really rough. The elbow from the top rope to Lyra's back looked brutal, and even more so followed by the Crossface -- REALLY good sequence. As for the finish, honestly, it was clean and very well done. Overall, a good match, though I felt it lacked a bit of rhythm in some stretches. I've watched several WWE women's division matches lately and I struggle to rate or connect with them as much as most people seem to here on Cagematch. But hey, I'm glad people are enjoying both women's divisions in WWE so much lately, they really deserve it."

Bayley's experience winning her the first fall with a roll up, then Lyra's sheer technical ability edging her the second and third is a such an effective use of the stipulation to tell a story. The work itself was great too, it always is with these two."

Bayley played the veteran mind games perfectly in the first fall, catching Lyra off guard with a clever roll-up. But Lyra showed grit, bouncing back with intensity in the second fall and dominating the third with precision and fire. Their chemistry was on point, and the pacing never dragged. You could feel the stakes, and Lyra's performance truly felt like a statement--she's not just the future, she's the now. Bayley deserves credit too for pushing her to that level and making every moment feel earned. A great TV match that could've easily fit on a PLE. Lyra's momentum going into SummerSlam feels real and well-earned."

Lyra showed good athleticism, while Bayley showed her usual veteran confidence. Some moments seemed not fully coordinated, but the ending was tense and emotional. Overall a confident but not outstanding performance."

Lyra Valkyria and Bayley might not have the best chemistry but both are eager to bring out the best in each other. Lyra is incredibly over and feels more like a big player in the division with every appearance. Bayley has been a bit shakey lately but her inclusion in this fued has given her some good competition to elevate herself once again. As for the stipulation goes, it was kind of pointless. If a 2 out of 3 falls stipulation is required than the match better be a war but instead this match fell into lucha rules booking where either the wrestlers have a lower health bar or are more probe to roll ups. When the first two falls were hastily put together roll ups then what was the point? May as well have had a better match with some good near falls."
[7.0] "This felt more like a one fall match with the incidental nature of the two rollups. Crowd started hot, fizzled away somewhat for the second fall and then came back to life for the excellent decider. A very good TV match ***1/2"

Great moves, great connections, Lyra is a fucking star and I don't give a damn about how this feud with Becky will end, she need to be fighting for the world title exactly when this ends. A fucking star, WWE. Give the world for her."
[8.0] "[3.75*] Another incredible match by Lyra Valkyria, wow. Nothing happened in the first fall but it really set the tone of this bout's story with the roll-up. The second fall was very good and had that amazing Apron Suplex. It ended via roll-up too, putting in people's minds the idea that the third fall could end at anytime. The third fall was obviously the best of the match, very dramatic with tons of suplexes and bumps, just like how Lyra's matches usually are. The ending itself was FANTASTIC, this reversal was pretty puroresu-esque and I loved it. Awesome bout."
[8.0] "Very good match, off the back of their triple threat the night before. They went out and had another banger here. Lyra taking advantage to hit a nightwing to get the final fall. After both got early roll ups. Very good match that showed the quality of both women"
[8.0] "A good continuation of the women's IC title picture after the great match at Evolution, this match on the other hand definitely was not as good, What was the point of making it two out of 3 falls if you just waste the first fall after a minute of some slapping taunting and a roll up. The second fall was a bit better with some nice limb work from Bayley on Lyra's bad back and there was a nice high angle suplex on the apron of the ring which was well done. Then Lyra one the second fall countering a roll up into one of her own. The third fall is where this match really came into it's own with the pace and stakes picking up with some great spots like Bayley hitting an elbow drop to Lyra's back and sunset flip bombing her into the ring steps. The finish was great as well with Bayley having an STF locked in Lyra crawls to the ropes so Bayley kicks off them to get the hold back to the middle of the ring but Lyra rolls through and lifted her up into the nightwing for the 3 count. Overall a really good third fall but this match would of been better if it was a 1 fall match as it would been at a high pace the whole way through like at Evolution. (****)"
[8.0] "Solid match. There were one or two spots I didn't like that broke my immersion, but overall it was well done. The first fall felt very odd so I wasn't sure about this match at first but as they progressed, it got better and better. This sure has been the women's year so far. Lyra is having a nice run. I don't know what the future holds for her, but I hope it's something truly special. It's great to see newer wrestlers growing, getting opportunities, performing well, and proving to everyone how much they deserve it. Love witnessing the early stages of wrestlers who have the potential to become the next generational stars. Those who will carry the future and later inspire the next wave of up and comers. Being part of that journey, seeing the evolution and where it leads, is something that's been missing from WWE for a long time. What's really special about Lyra is that her progression has been very wrestling-driven, rather than WWE's usual sports entertainment formula. It feels like something out of old-school SmackDown. Love to see it. You just can't miss a Lyra match no more."
[8.0] "Great match from both women, of course no one is surprised they already had great matches between the both of them, Lyra and Bayley have great chemistry and also liked the story told in the ring with both of them making mistakes in their first pinfall and then the ending sequence was also great. I actually thought that Bayley was going to win this match because she is kinda more know than Lyra and maybe they would have wanted for SummerSlam a bigger match, but no they went it Lyra, so I respect that."

[8.0] "Very good match. It made sense to have Bayley and Lyra go two out of three falls. Bayley worked as the heel in this one. A minute in Bayley gets the first fall on a roll up, which is the only thing I didn't like because that only ever happens with this stipulation and is far too predictable. There was a nice back and forth until Lyra evens the score with a roll up of her own. This was a match focused on technical ability, but that doesn't mean there should be flat, cheap pins like that. Thankfully, they made up for it with the last fall where they upped the intensity a lot. Bayley was relentless in trying to win, delivering one big move after another while Lyra was doing her best to just stay competitive. Strong finish with Lyra rolling out of a Bayley submission and turning it into a Nightwing for the final fall. It definitely fit with the story being told and having a decisive ending like that was a big improvement. Lyra earns another shot at Becky for the IC title at SummerSlam. 8/10"

"I don't usually care for the 2-3 falls stipulation but they made it very interesting. Very intense match with a good heel/babyface dynamic and the buildup really made it difficult to tell who would win, especially towards the end where they traded high impact moves. There were also lots of high risk spots that elevated the match. Lyra has been very impressive and Bayley seems to always be very consistent"

Also, Bayley is fantastic, she is just one of the best, and I'm glad she put over Lyra Valkryia because she helped big time now, Lyra Valkryia can take down another four horsewomen at SummerSlam. Also, hoping Bayley has something to do because I hope she reenters the World Title picture again soon, because she needs to duel with Naomi. But again amazing match between these two."
