The fact that Randy and Drew, 2 of the very best in the company are being dragged into this is just sad. You then include the other SNME stuff that brings down the matches and it's just bad."

To be clear though, I also don't think this match is very good at all, from an in-ring perspective. At least in my eyes, it seems really clear that Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre are completely going through the motions in this match. This leads to almost the entire choreography of the match being predictable, even down to Randy Orton's "RKO out of nowhere" being wholly unsurprising. I kind of hate being so negative about Jelly Roll, because he seems like a great human being and it's awesome seeing how much weight he's lost, but this storyline he's attracting feels conducive to complete failure."

It's hard to expect much from matches on Saturday Night's Main Event because they, typically, don't get a whole lot of time, despite the event being presented similarly to a PLE. I know it's not, technically, a PLE, but it still feels like a special event. I just wish the matches were special."

If you ignore the brawl after, the value of the match increases for a bit. But we live in a world where denying the obvious is abnormal. The confrontation came out of nowhere, but 5 years ago they were engaged in one of the fiercest confrontations in the last 10 years. It was for the WORLD TITLE! Now they help celebrity. OK, Randy respects Jelly for something. Good for both. Why does Drew accept the help from Logan? Or Logan accepts.. Whatever. Why do Drew and Logan team up? McIntyre should've said all of them to kiss his 3 letters"

Minus all the ads that allowed us about 43 seconds of actual on screen match time, this was no PLE level match, no build-up at all, wasting one of their biggest names returning from a loss against Priest (which he should have won and buried Priest from) and having him lose, Jelly Roll being there and part of the story, Logan Paul and Drew being allies despite this just redacting all previous story between them. Terrible booking, mid match at best, awful post match scenes. Why are they doing Drew like this?"
[5.0] "Pretty average matchup. A lot more was made about the two celebrities in the corners. Orton and Drew hit a lot of their signature move set but it just didn't feel like a special attraction. Finish made sense to set up the Summerslam match"
[2.0] "Exactly what a Randy Orton x Drew Mcintyre would look like in a random episode of Smackdown in 2010. Nothing special, very basic, just 2 very safe guys wrestling as slow as they can. Would have a better rating if it was not for the terrible angle with Jelly Roll (who is this guy, and why should we care about him? )"
[3.0] "A by the numbers tv match ruined by unnecessary celebrity interference. There is no reason for Logan to be involved in this rivalry at all, and his involvement in the finish made the match so much worse than it otherwise would've been. And don't get me started on Jelly Roll."

This match was boring, its writing was lazy, and made some formulaic WWE TV look like a creative masterpiece. I don't see how anyone could watch this and feel excited for the sequel at Summerslam, which also involves someone who has never wrestled before."
[5.0] "A nothing match setting up another nothing match. They did what they could with the material given but considering the names involved it wasn't great. Not exactly chomping at the bit to see the blowoff at Summerslam."
[2.0] "This is not really a match: it's a set up for a match. A bout to set up another one is not an inherently bad thing, but this one was. For starters, the match they are setting up (a tag team bout that has Jelly Roll teaming up with Randy Orton to go against the pairing of Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre) is less interesting than the one that's happening. But then the way to set it up, since it involves a non wrestler and a pseudo-wrestler (or just a bad and uninteresting one, I am talking about Paul) is distraction and trash talk. None of the moves built anything, they are just there to fill time, just as the match is just there to fill time. The disinterest seems palpable even between the competitors, and I honestly cannot blame them."
[2.0] "A totally pointless match that's setting up which is guaranteed to be the most crushing vibes in modern WWE history. Logan Paul Jelly Roll feud is just not what I want from wrestling. Orton and McIntyre deserve better. They sleptwalked through this and who could blame them? A good feud back in 2020 but Cole describing it as one of the best in company history was very silly revisionism."
"This is an absolutely nothing match. WWE is wasting their top talent on celebrity feuds. It's something I find rather baffling. WWE is capable of putting on amazing matches as they've proved quite a few times this year, but they tend to prioritize things that bring them down every time. It's an absolute waste of time, total non finish, and it's leading to a match no one asked for."
"This was just a display of a couple of well-known moves from both and that's it. Logan Paul looked so much worse than this Jelly Roll guy. But without a doubt the worst part of all was seeing McIntyre get distracted in the stupidest way and then losing to the RKO. The only good thing about this was that Jelly Roll finally ate a Claymore Kick to close this time wasting nonsense."
[5.0] "As a match this wasn't too bad, it was just a little rushed because they only had eight minutes. The whole storyline with Jelly Roll and Logan is awful and shouldn't be taking time away from more deserving wrestlers who have been stuck in catering for months."

This match existed just to advance the angle involving Logan Paul and Jelly Roll, who I definitely do not give a shit about and absolutely do not want to see wrestle. What a waste of Drew McIntyre. Which is fine whatever can't do nothing about it and there set up on smackdown was honestly good but they need to give it more time to build because don't just announce the match after just one segment give us more. The match doesn't have anything going on with it it is the most basic match these two have had together. 2.50 stars"

I was very much excited for this match as these two had some solid bouts in the past, with their 2020 rivalry being one of my favorites from this decade. But this match was just clonky, slow, and sluggish because they want to sell this Jelly Roll stuff. Randy Orton got the win with an RKO, but afterwards, Logan Paul got the upper hand, knocking down Randy Orton. Drew McIntyre claymore'd Jelly Roll, which made a lot of WWE Officials and the RAW and SmackDown General Managers come out and calm down Drew McIntyre. Very disappointing, just a very bad week for the Main Roster as SmackDown and Saturday Night Main Event were abysmal."
[4.0] "This match, being the opener, I thought it would be much better, but considering the story behind it, it's very bold to say that it would be a good match, because despite these two great wrestlers, honestly, it was a trashy story for a match that, in my opinion, doesn't even pass muster."

I like both guys a lot but this was an extended segment to set up a *checks notes* Jelly Roll match...He could barely push Logan Paul and we're supposed to believe he has a chance in a match in kayfabe. This unfortunately set the tone for a pedestrian event."

You can only rate from what you can see, and we got... basically three minutes of offence between Randy and Drew because these shows are terribly produced and have to cut to commercial every ten seconds. This match has the potential to be great if you put it on a PLE, because, come on, Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre writes itself. But nope, we have to deal with some drama between Logan Paul and fucking Jelly Roll as the emotional linchpin of a feud that's getting way more prominence at Summerslam than it really should. God, shoot me now."

Given that, it worked well enough, especially with two performers who clearly have chemistry and familiarity. While the match itself was short and clearly took a backseat to the storyline progression, it accomplished what it needed to in the time it had. Not a must-see bout, but an effective segment that keeps the momentum rolling into the bigger stage. A waste of a spot for McIntyre at SummerSlam."
