[7.0] "Je'von Evans is just incapable of having a bad match. I don't even rate Jasper Troy that much, but this was a pretty good match! Je'von works pretty well with these big type of wrestlers and it was no different here. Good opener!"
[5.0] "I thought Jasper Troy's performance was very strong but Je'Von didnt work for me here. It was more satisfying seeing Troy keep BOUNCYYYY isolated on the outside tossing him around like a beast than the underdog offense BOUNCYYY brought to the table. Finish didnt stick either that rollup couldve been tighter but Troy just needs to work on his bumping skills and he can be a real star. **3/4"
[7.0] "Evans came in with his ribs taped to sell an injury. He landed some early punches before Troy targeted the ribs with a knee strike. Evans hit a dropkick, but Troy's power quickly took over as he tossed Evans around ringside and slammed him against the barricade. Back inside, Troy hit a running splash and a body slam while continuing to punish the ribs. Evans fought back with kicks and a superkick, but his rib injury caused him to collapse mid-move. Troy missed a Vader Bomb, giving Evans a chance to rally with strikes, a springboard crossbody, and a German suplex on the 300-pounder. Evans connected with a Frog Splash for a close nearfall, but Troy answered with a Chokeslam and a running body attack. Evans managed to counter with a sunset flip pin for the three count. A solid big man vs. athletic underdog match. Troy looked dominant for much of it, while Evans' speed and resilience led to a hard-fought win. Both men showed strong potential; Evans continues to shine as one of NXT's most exciting performers, and this win positions him well for a future NXT Title shot. Troy losing nothing in defeat makes this a well-balanced opener. ***1/4"
[8.0] "A really good match between both men with really good and hard hitting in ring work and psychology between each other, a good first PLE performance from Troy looking like a monster and a much needed win for Evans if they're building to him getting his one on one rematch for the NXT Title."
[5.0] "Some fun spots, but they were just going from one to another until it suddenly ended with an unearned pin. Evans wasn't particularly bouncy, and Troy's domination was repetitive to boot. Unsurprising for two inexperienced guys."
[7.0] "Jevon has better ribs selling than the main eventer who debuted when he was ~8 years old, fantastic. A fun match that kicked off the show with an incredibly paced David versus Goliath story. While this matches outcome left me confused with the direction for jasper troy following this (getting three significant losses in a row), they gave him a way to look strong by the end of the show. I'm loving Troy's matches for how fresh he is, great presence."
[4.0] "I don't get high praise of that match. Je'von looked good as always especially when he goes against bigger dudes. But Jasper didn't look like a threat. He was slow and showed zero interesting moves. And his gear looked ridiculous, he looked like an electrician or something, I am sorry, Jasper. Also I don't like such kind of endings when a smaller guy who gets 90% of beating in the match suddenly wins via roll-up."
[7.0] "I think it was a fun match with some good chemistry from both opponents. Personally, I think Evan's did the second rope jump into a hold a couple too many times which affects my score. But, I still think they put on a good opening match. 7.25/10"
[4.0] "Asking a 21 year old to lead a match is a bold choice and it showed. Awkward match with a number of glaring botches from both. I'm really not feeling Troy, I get he's green but the guy has zero aura or charisma. How is it that you are against one of the most beloved NXT underdogs in recent memory and you can't get heat? No good."
[5.0] "Yeah I don't know about this one, it felt like filler more than anything. Je'von is awesome so no disrespect to him, I just didn't know why I should care about this one. I've never watched Jasper Troy wrestle, so that shortcoming of my viewing history might have just made it hard to care about this match."
[7.0] "Evans carried this for the most part. Not that Jasper was horrible mind you, but he's green and Je'Von was clearly the guy to lead him. Troy got his monster size right and was quite imposing. He's a little sloppy though and needs to work on stuff like selling. Je'Von is fantastic and despite a few sloppy parts in this match he was great and absolutely nailed it as the underdog babyface in the match. I liked the finish as it protects Jasper without making him look stupid, while Je'Von gets to have a W but look like he survived by the skin of his teeth. So a good but not great match overall."
[8.0] "I really liked this. Jasper Troy has all the size needed to be a big star and he executes the moves you'd expect him to well. Je'Von has springs for legs in a way I can't compare to anyone else and his offense always stands out. He escapes with a win which gets him closer to gold - the fact he hasn't won any yet surprises me."
[6.0] "Maybe my expectations for Je'Von Evans matches are now too high after the absolute belters he's been delivering all year. Booking him with a rib injury essentially cuts his arsenal in half, and left me pining for the aerial acrobatics that he's so phenomenal at. To his credit, his selling on his ribs was great, but it came at the expense of the pace of the match. Not too familiar with Jasper Troy, but I didn't think their chemistry together was particularly strong. I wish this could have been slicker and ultimately more entertaining."
[6.0] "it's a good match and i think it made jevon look good but more importantly it made jasper troy in kayfabe looked absolutely awful. I don't think he should have lost this match at all. There is a way for troy to win this and continue this feud with evans because since debuting troy hasn't won anything which is not a great way to build a new beast for your show. Troy is amazing for how long he's been on tv i just don't agree with his booking at all. 3.50 stars"
[6.0] "Good little fight. Jasper is as good as someone who's been wrestling for barely a month or two can be, which is to say surprisingly decent! Je'von is as good as always, although he doesn't get to do his best high flying stuff here. Overall an enjoyable bout that does a good job establishing Jasper without making Je'Von seem weaker in comparison."
[5.0] "Look, I love Je'Von, he's very good in the ring, and even if I don't particularly care about his gimmick, it's alright. But damn i did not care about this match, like at all. Mabye it's simply because i stopped watching NXT weekly shows, or mabye it's because Jasper Troy is really bland in my opinion, but they could not get me into the match, I barely watched it, did not care at all"
[8.0] "David vs. Goliath style match with Je'Von Evans getting the edge on Jasper Troy. This match was a lot of work, and kudos to Je'Von Evans for selling his ribs in jury he sustained on Tuesday at the hands of Jasper Troy. I like how the finish of the match went, as both men were protected, with Jasper Troy losing on a roll-up victory. But a fun opener, and Je'Von Evans is must-watch TV whenever he's in that square circle."
[7.0] "This was good. They told the David and Goliath story well here. Jasper doesn't have much experience and didn't really have to do much aside from his power moves. Je'Von did most of the work, making Jasper look like a monster while bumping like crazy for him. Je'Von did a good job selling the ribs, though it did limit what he could actually do. The match got a little repetitive with the formula and a few minutes shorter would have been better. Je'Von gets a fluke win so the loss won't hurt Jasper that much. 7/10"
[7.0] "Jasper Troy is very green but he is still very impressive for his level of ability. His moves look impactful which doesn't come natural so early in a career. Jevon did great work to put Jasper over as a monster. A very solid opening match."
"[7.0] The Match was a lot of fun, Jasper Troy proved again how much of a monster he is, Je'von Evans is pushing himself up the world title ranks every time he competes"
[6.0] "Match correct , pour moi Jasper m'est toujours aussi indifférent cependant le match a été sublimer grâce a Je'Von et son selling durant le match et content qu'il puisse gagner ce match en espérant un titre bientôt."
[6.0] "Ngl, this was a solid match. Nothing special, but still solid as best. Jevon was the right winner here. Jasper is still green, but I'll give him this, he did a solid job here."
[7.0] "I didn't expect much from this match because Jasper Troy is still very green in my opinion, but there's nothing Je'Von Evans can't do to prove that he can become one of the best wrestlers in NXT. He knows how to make a match end up being so good, to be honest."
"[9.0] Just and incredible David vs Goliath match Jevon like he always is was incredible but i cant take away from JaspervTroy who was an incredible base for Jevon"
[9.0] "The match started off a bit slow, but once Evans began his comeback and started firing back, things picked up quickly. There's just something timeless about the underdog standing up to the bully, it's a dynamic that always resonates, and it definitely worked here. As an opener, this delivered a strong narrative with Evans scoring a major win. That said, they might want to be cautious about having Troy take too many more losses. Presenting him as a dominant force only works if he starts winning meaningful matches. A monster who constantly falls short starts to lose credibility fast."
[7.0] "A pretty good opening match. Jevon Evans is special, and Jasper Troy showed what he can do as well. I like the finish of Evans getting the roll up. Evans gets a good victory while still allowing Troy to look strong. These two played their roles well, and it's easy to root for the underdog Evans here. I don't watch much NXT weekly, but I do think Je'Von Evans has an unlimited amount of potential and he'll only get better. I also haven't seen much of Troy, but despite the loss he still came away from this match looking strong."
[9.0] "Solid little match overall. Troy played a decent monster and served as a strong base for Evans, who really shined working from underneath. A nice touch to the story was Evans being presented as the superior striker, something you don't often see in big man vs. smaller opponent matchups. It added a fresh dynamic to a familiar formula. This was another strong pay-per-view showing for him, this time against a very green newcomer who highlighted his strengths well. The match played out as a fun cat-and-mouse encounter, perfectly suited to both competitors' styles."
[9.0] "This match really felt like a modern-day David vs. Goliath story, and both wrestlers played their parts perfectly. Troy nailed the role of the bully, he didn't take many hits, but that worked perfectly for his "big man" persona. The crowd loved it when the underdog finally managed to take him down. Evans was, as always, fantastic, especially with his offense being shut down repeatedly. It made the moments when he finally connected feel even bigger, like when he finally hit that German Suplex that had been teased all night. Troy's character is protected somewhat by Evans' win, but it's still hard to ignore that he's losing more than he's winning in NXT. It makes me wonder if they're just testing him for now before they repurpose him somehow. They might need to reconsider his direction soon because constantly losing could put him in a hole that's tough to climb out of."
[9.0] "Troy looks like the evolved form of Evans, a true monster in the ring. Their match was a textbook David vs. Goliath story, played out flawlessly. Troy was relentless, dominating and throwing Evans around like a ragdoll. After coming up short against NXT Champion Oba Femi, a big win here would've been the perfect next step for Troy. But, for reasons that remain unclear, that's not what happened. Evans didn't need this victory, on any level. Meanwhile, Troy is getting pushed as this unstoppable force who never actually wins anything meaningful. It raises the question: what's the point of all that build-up if the monster never lands the big wins? But the match was great as expected from Evans"
[9.0] "Jasper Troy, fresh off his LFG Season One win, opened Saturday's show with the biggest challenge of his career so far: a showdown against former NXT title top contender, Je'Von Evans. The match played out like a modern-day David vs. Goliath. Troy dominated early, using his power to manhandle the quicker Evans and control the tempo. But the tide eventually turned. Battling through a rib injury, Evans dug deep and pulled off a surprising comeback, catching the rookie powerhouse with a roll-up for a hard-earned victory."
[7.0] "It's been great seeing more of jasper Troy, and Je'Von is probably the best person for his first PLE Match, and they had such great chemistry, and they played the parts of Heel and Face so well, with Troy overpowering during the match, but then Evans using his agility and speed to counter, and Evans is clearly making himself to be one of the best talents in NXT, and a leader, he can also be the next NXT Champion, and i really see that happening probably at Next Years Stand and Deliver, and Obas probably going to be the Longest to hold that Belt."
