Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Tiger Mask

[6.0] "I really only went out of my way to watch this because it's the last time Tanahashi will wrestle Tiger Mask, and it wasn't bad. Obviously, not great, but still solid for what it was. Tanahashi's retirement run has been really good thus far, in my eyes."

[5.0] "This match marked the 30th anniversary of Tiger Mask's career, an occasion that promised much, especially with a clash against Hiroshi Tanahashi, whom he had not fought in 19 years. Unfortunately, despite the context, the match turned out to be rather disappointing. Technically, it was fine: both wrestlers showed their skills, but the pace was slow and lacked dynamism. More problematic still, the match failed to convey the emotional depth or gravity that such an event should have carried. Tiger Mask announced his retirement in a year's time in a backstage promo, which should have added extra dramatic tension. Rating: **1/4"

[6.0] "A rather skippable stop of Tana's Last Road, it wasn't bad but it wasn't really any exciting either. ***"

[6.0] "I have a real soft spot for Tiger Mask IV and I think he delivered a very serviceable match with Tanahashi here, he seemed to have some extra fire to him (likely due to his retirement run announcement post-match) and he really made Tanahashi sweat in a believable manner. Tanahashi got the win with the High Fly Flow as expected, but I enjoyed this a lot, worth a watch as it is a notable point in the career of Tiger Mask IV."

[6.0] "As slow as you might expect, but Tiger's saltiness and the tease of a tiger driver off the top added a little something."

"Old man match between retiring Tanahashi and senior citizen Tiger Mask. While that sounds harsh, Tiger Mask IV actually announced he will retire in one year, July 2026. While this Tiger Mask has had an incredible run, a new, young Tiger Mask should help to invigorate this Junior Heavyweight division that is already getting a lot of support from the current crop of unrealized young lions. I hope they have that guy picked out already. Could be a while before we see that, even though it is a no brainer."

[7.0] "A solid match between two veterans, nothing special, but the action in the ring was meaningful and the wrestlers tried to use a small number of moves to the maximum, giving them more meaning, and also to use the limited number of big moments wisely."
