[8.0] "A great example of how to do a Texas Death Match - the complete opposite of the messy versions AEW puts on today. Two of the toughest guys went to war to settle their issue, following a strong build that had the audience fully invested in both characters. It was a true bloodbath, but instead of leaning on furniture spots, they focused on selling the exhaustion and brutality of the fight, and it worked fantastically. Terry brought amazing babyface fire, while Khan played the simple but highly effective savage heel. Kerry added to it as well, getting involved at the finish to take care of the heels, which drew loud reactions from the crowd. Great job with some incredible images all around."
[7.0] "This was the culmination of the Freebirds bringing in Khan to teach Gordy the Oriental Spike. Good times didnt last and of course we get this war. Not the most flashy brawl in the world but probably the best Killer Khan match ive seen so far in the United States. A good example of a Texas brawl with a hot crowd wanting to see blood."
[7.0] "This was a really good bloody brawl. Both of these guys bleed heavily but Khan's cut just keeps getting bigger and bigger throughout the match. I didn't like how heavily Kerry was involved both during, and especially after the match. I'm glad there was a good deal of actual wrestling amidst the bloody beating."
[8.0] "Ive seen many Texas Death Matched over the years but this is the first one that actually uses the traditional Texas Death Match rules created by the Funks. Crowd is super hot for the match. Khan busts Gordy open early and takes the first fall with a top rope knee drop around 5 minutes in. Gordy returns the favor busting Khan open and scores a fall with a piledriver at around 9 minutes. At about 14 minutes Gordy uses the Oriental Spike that Khan taught him to pin Khan and put him down for good. Action wise, this might not hold up against todays wrestling but it was for the time, this was a great match with a super invested crowd."
[9.0] "This match was voted best '80s Texas match of the Death Valley Driver poll a few years back. I didn't agree and don't now. I guess they liked blood on that site. I personally thought it was the Von Erichs/Freebirds from 7/4/83, but this was damn good. Khan busts Gordy open early in the match and by the end, it's pretty much a bloodbath MIssing Link gets involved and Kerry awards the match to Gordy because the Link's interference gave Khan more than enough time to get back to the ring"
[9.0] "Great energy, fought with urgency. Even the waiting for 30 seconds felt impactful. Killer Khan's hair and top of his head was shining with blood. Terry Gordy all over his face. Kerry did good role in here as a referee. The post match was sweet and happy too."
[7.0] "I really don't love the stipulation but this was good in spite of that. Great violence and loads of blood. Gordy as I face works well. He is explosive and sells better than he is on offence. Khan was great. I love how loud Khan is as well. He is a very expressive monster in more ways than one. ***1/2"
[6.0] "This is solid. It's a fun brawl that could easily plod along but instead the slow pace helps each punch, each move feel like it has a lot of weight behind them. The finish leaves a lot to be desired but the crowd eats it up."
[4.0] "Gordy is busted early and Khan relies on simple heel moves. A really obvious blade job by Khan during fall two took a little out for me as well. It was seen a mile away where we were going. Two out of three fall matches are usually only good when given significant time to develop a story. This was rushed with the first two coming in 7 minutes like a modern CMLL match. Probably most remembered for the significant blood, the match itself is lacking and the brawling isn't on par with the Sheik/Slaughter matches from the same time frame. **"
