[8.0] "A real survivor series classic and better than anything I expected from WWF in 1995. A fun mix up of people and allies in opposition teams. Shawn really does show why he was the main man for WWF at this time and holds the match together. Razor also looks great for his team throughout. The match is clearly looking to put Ahmed Johnson over and push him to the main event level - and does so somewhat successfully (in this match - not long term obviously). The Sid accidental elimination was quite fun at the hands of his own teammates. Owen is great and pair's well with whoever he's in the ring with. Really good fun with a lot of star power and enjoyable match ups and moments, everything a survivor series match should be."

[4.0] "For all the hype of this stipulation meaning there will be a lot of wild clashes and oddball interactions it's an incredibly low energy, sluggish affair I find. There's really only tension when Razor Ramon and Shawn end up going face to face and that's treated largely as just a bit of a joke by a cocky Shawn that it doesn't feel that serious or morally ambiguous for either in figuring out how they feel about what's transpiring. There's some poking between Sid and Shawn as partners also but that, again, is downplayed and made a joke by how unseriously Shawn takes the whole affair of being partnered up with a guy he doesn't like. The same for Dean and Razor early on which may be the closest to the best executed dynamic in the match but one that not only doesn't lats long but has no consequences following it. Why don't Yokozuna or Owen chew Razor out for his actions when he's making them lose? There's never really much of any type of implosion on either side unless you count at the last second with whatever botch Bulldog somehow does where he completely misses the supposed Leg Drop on his teammate to just accidentally hit Sid, who was being pinned, instead so it doesn't look like a bad thing. On top of all this lack of actual gripping story and slow execution you've got other botches and poor performances that aren't just relegated to a missed Leg Drop. Sid gets eliminated despite the fact that he is not the legal man as Shawn didn't tag him, there's Ahmed messing up a spot with Razor on the turnbuckle seemingly while trying to sell which leads to Razor having to do a really sloppy Running Bulldog to make up for it, and Ahmed also barely even pulls off the Powerslam on Yokozuna he's supposed to do. Shawn for his part is honestly just insufferable this match with how much he gets beat up to the point of it being quite dull (a fault of Razor too in terms of the pacing of this match) or making very goofy faces to undersell a lot of what's going on and it's just quite annoying on a storytelling level. The only one's I'd argue having no fault with in this match are Dean, Owen, and Yokozuna. Dean for the most part probably plays his part to the most perfection for what it is and keeps the energy good for the early minutes of the match he's involved in. Owen is decent here but doesn't really have too much a spotlight, but he gets in his overconfidence great with how often he's shouting and raising his hands praising himself any time he gets even the smallest amount of offense in. But Yokozuna is awesome for the brief periods he's in this match just for being Yokozuna even if his time is short as the last man standing on his team against three. The whole time it still feels like the "face" team needs to do a lot to take Yokozuna down and Yokozuna's selling and brief moments of offense are well done (particularly the great palm strike and Powerslam he gets on Shawn to just smash him down for all his goofiness and all the flop selling he does once the babyfaces rally). He wasn't totally limited here just yet in 1994 and still can pull out some great character work for being a little bit slower. But for the most part I just find myself really not clicking with this match or anything it attempted to do in part to how slow, confused, and sloppy it all came off as. It didn't feel like a fun, wacky cast of characters trying to figure one another out opponent and teammate-wise but just small moments being dragged out way too much and any intended emotional beats just not having any real impact with all the botching or melodrama occurring. Honestly it being 1994 WWF this entire match could have benefited in a way from being more goofy in my opinion. Instead I'm just quite lackadaisical with whole thing."

[7.0] "That was a good elimination match with a cool twist due to the wildcard nature of the teams. I liked the they did spots like Michaels being the reason Sid was eliminated, so Sid got his revenge with a Powerbomb right away. Ramon was screwed out of the loss by Kid and Sid, which furthered that storyline. It's easy to see why they chose those three to survive: Michaels was on the road to being the top guy, Johnson was a new star on the rise and Bulldog was getting the WWE Title shot at the December 1995 PPV, so they wanted him to look strong. It was a fun match from start to finish with two good guys winning in the end."

[7.0] "An interesting take on a unique concept, this is more intriguing than electric, but it moves along nicely nonetheless. The range in work is comically wide, from a razor sharp Owen Hart performance to a comically listless Sid outing. Psychologically, it has some punch though, including a terrific friendly foe double feature in the middle. It's a match with obvious care and thought put into the differing character dynamics, which ultimately makes up for some uneven physicality. ***1/2"

[6.0] "A very interesting concept that was pulled off very well. My only complaint is that the 'heel' team should have had one more babyface so it would have been two heels and two faces on each side. The bout is all about Michaels. At the same time, it gives a good intro to Johnson while hiding his weaknesses. The reason to watch this one is really for the character interactions. When two heels or two faces square off. The actual bell to bell around them is actually kind of mild. There are a lot of slow and sluggish periods. I think some time could have been shaved off here. It's a good and very fun match, but the strength is the uniqueness. Not the actual wrestling. Good, but nothing overly special."

I'm not sure what the reasons were for the mixup of friend and foes as team members, but it reminded me a little bit of the Battle Bowl tag matches from WCW back in the day. Weird teams aside, this was a ton of fun and a good chance to see a lot of unique matchups that delivered more than anyone thought possible."

[8.0] "This match was a lot of fun watching back as a New Generation Era kid. It was clunky at times, but I love this unique form of storytelling. Shawn Michaels was clearly the star of the match and Ahmed Johnson looked his. So many fun character moments. I do wonder if Davey Boy was a little intoxicated since he did some weird things. At one point, he broke up a pin, left the ring and then they did the pin again as planned. Either way, one of my fav traditional Survivor Series matches and one of the most underrated IMO."

Ahmed Johnson's finish was the best part. but yeah there isn't a really good reason to watch this in my opinion. i still have extreme go home heat for Shane Douglas's teacher gimmick for scratching the chalk board such an annoying way to get heat but I just don't care enough to see him lose."
JacquesRougeauCanHaveMyWife wrote on 18.11.2023:
[7.0] "The star power here does one third of the job, the conflicts within the teams the second third and the rest is a technically good match. Michaels looks like the best wrestler in the world once again and his exchanges with Owen or Razor are great. Sid doesn't do much but that's the way to use him, as he can be brilliant in small doses. Ahmed's PPV debut also didn't look bad and it seemed like he was pretty over with the crowd. Another nice Elimination Match on this show."

[7.0] "Cool concept and watching Bulldog and Owen try to sucker each other on a handshake and then sucker kick each other was funny. Best match on the card up to this point but it doesn't hold that distinction long. Sid holds Razor for Shawn and Shawn super kicks Sid by accident and makes a comedy spot out of it. Razor tries to pin Sid but Bulldog runs in and leg drops Sid, BECAUSE HE'S BIZARRE!"
Derek Joists wrote on 23.12.2021:
[7.0] "Faces and heels on the same team was a newer concept when this match happened, and wondering how they'd coexist wasn't such a cliche. There isn't actually too much of that until near the end with Bulldog, and it works well. The match is well done as a whole, as the format mostly allows for the weaknesses of the individual wrestlers to be disguised and their strengths highlighted - apart from Sid, who by this point has no strengths. It does drag in parts, and they could have shortened this by 5 minutes and lengthened the womens match to improve both of them, but overall it's pretty good."

[5.0] "This was a wildcard match with faces and heels thrown together so crowd not sure who to cheer for at times, in 2021 this is known as Team Raw vs Team Smackdown. There were a few confused spots but this is mostly decent except when Yokozuna tags in, he is so out of shape he has to slap on a rest hold about 20 seconds in."

[8.0] "I really enjoyed this one. Aside from a few sloppy spots from Ahmed, a strange Bulldog moment, and Sid being yet again terminally confused by the aspect of what it means to be a professional wrestler, everyone did a really good job in their respective roles. You had several stories to follow in the match, nothing was expressly about one person. Enemies teaming together was an interesting dynamic that reminded me of the Battle Bowl days. It was a match where anything could have happened just because of the uncertainty of the teams in general."

There was way too much of the "these partners just couldn't get along" schtick, largely because faces and heels were divided between teams. Two or three times they had partners fight, which really dragged things down sometimes. But it was way better than anything to do with the Bill Clinton impersonator."

Fortunately he gets out before too terribly long and the match is able to recover somewhat. Maybe too many different things crammed into one match, not bad but definitely muddled at times."

zzzorf wrote on 03.11.2015:
[3.0] "This concept behind this match was ridiculous. The idea of feuding opponents having to team with each other while partners were on opposing teams just didn't work. Over the years this concept has worked if the teams had a reason to get along, such as brand supremacy, but this match had no reason for the two teams to cooperate. What we therefore got was nearly every fall having some sort of in-fighting on a team making us wonder what really was the point of it all. Add to that some spots that either didn't make sense like Sid's elimination when HBK was legal, and even though the Bulldog tried to break up the pin but just strolled away from the second one, or botches like Ahmed being knocked silly and this is a match I would prefer never to have to watch again."
