[8.0] "Wow, I'm shocked with how physical this match was. I didn't expect that kind of match outta Ricochet. This was a good match as well, but I feel like it was a wrong placement."
[8.0] "While the previous match closing the show would have been ideal, to me, I completely get why this went on last and I don't think it disappointed. It's hard to follow a match like Gabe Kidd vs Kenny Omega, but these two had a pretty good title match with a nice clash of styles. Ricochet having a Tokyo Dome main event on his resumé is crazy cool."
[7.0] "Following Omega/Kidd was almost impossible, and while this was not as good, it was a damn good effort which surpassed my expectations. ZSJ of course stole the show and performed some incredible offence especially, but Ricochet looked like he had the air of a legitimate challenger to him which I did not expect. ZSJ did of course predictably get the win after a submission. This was not flawless but was a great match in my eyes and well worth a watch."
[7.0] "Two fantastic wrestlers in an odd styles clash, Ricochet isn't the type to sell limbs well, so they focused on striking and big move exchanges, which I felt didn't really play to ZSJ's strengths."
[6.0] "This match was ok, but It was also predictable who was going over. Maybe their styles just don't mesh that well together idk the match just never clicked with me. For a cross promotion super card main event, this wasn't exactly the memorable star making performance I was looking for. *** stars."
[7.0] "Look, that was a solid, good main event; but after the Kenny-Gabe match, my feelings where like "whatever, I already saw a historic match, I don't care what's next"; which is sad, cause Zack and Ricochet, did a solid job there. i'm sure rewatching only this match will give me a different perspective. (***1/2)."
[8.0] "4 1/4. Very solid main event in the dome that fit both men's styles. While I wish Gabe/Kenny had the spot over this, it was still a good match."
[7.0] "This was probably better than I expected going in, and I thought this had a great potential following that bombastic, exciting start. But this sort of simmered. It still maintained some quality and the chemistry was still rather good, but this didn't really blow me away either. Both worked hard and did well to get the crowd into the match. But this didn't take me as much as I thought it was going to. ***1/4"
[8.0] "This match struggled to follow the masterpiece that was Omega vs Kidd but this match would still be a deserving main event on any other night. Ricochet has the flexibility to allow ZSJ's style to really shine"
[7.0] "Imagine a ZSJ vs Ricochet match...you got it. Predictable as all hell winner in the Main Event! Last time I saw ricochet on ppv he was covered in toilet paper. I've never been less interested in seeing him in a title match one night after the champ just defended the title."
[7.0] "Vey good match that gives the crowd a strong display of clashing styles. Following up the previous barn burner this was in a difficult spot and wasn't able to come close to the drama or emotion making this feel worse by comparison. ZSJ's striking game comes across really well here though, against a smaller guy that can bump and sell the impact better than most. Ricochet is technically a great worker, his character always fails to connect with me though especially in this environment where he had no chance to beat the odds. ***3/4"
[7.0] "It was a good call to begin the match with urgency to drive attention to it after the previous bout they had to follow. The dynamic of Zack's technicality paired with Rico's agility and high-flying offense made for some thrilling counters. A bit of a lull deep in the match and felt like this could have been better if 5 minutes had been shaved off. But still, very good match and a significantly better showing for Zack than the previous night. ***3/4"
[8.0] "This was HEADS better than a slog of previous night. ZSJ and Rico has a great styles clash that compliments each other. Definitely worth the watch."
[7.0] "A strange match insofar as it was both good yet also disappointing. These guys are very talented but the air was all out of the balloon in the room after Omega captured everyone's heart. Fine match but it won't be recalled except for folks to say it shouldn't have gone on last."
[8.0] "Tought task to wrestle after the big match ! Didn't like the spoty first minutes from Ricochet that builded nothing for the match Afterwards it was great with sluggish exchanges, ZSJ work on the arm comes in late in the match but felt good, exectued with excellency because he's so strong at working limbs. Ricochet was a bit innovative with his strikes and that felt good Suprising to see Ricochet tap out this fast but the evolutive submission was once again a masterpiece of ZSJ's wrestling book Should'nt have been the ME but still a great match ****"
[7.0] "This is a really good match but suffers from the crowd being dead after Omega/Kidd right before it. Ricochet looked better here than in any of his AEW matches in the months leading up to this."
[8.0] "This match got a bad wrap simply because of the banger that was put on before it. Ricochet is great and ZSJ is simply the best so no wonder this match would be amazing. It was much shorter than ZSJ vs Umino which was a very good decision. The finish was also smart, having Ricochet tap within 25 minutes to make the match good, but not too long. Overall a really great match-up."
[8.0] "They worked a good fun match, but man were they screwed after the Kenny vs Gabe Kidd match. This was Ricochet's best performance since his BOSJ days so i'd recommend it to anyone, but man what a tough spot they were in. 4 stars"
[8.0] "[4.25*] I honestly thought it would be something disappointing, considering they had to follow the mega match between Kenny Omega and Gabe Kidd. However, they managed to surprise everyone and deliver a very entertaining match. Of course, it wasn't on the level of the previous one, but it was still top-tier. I loved how Ricochet worked hard to not come across as a junior in this match, and ZSJ's sellings were fantastic."
[7.0] "Another match I felt didn't fit the billing of a Tokyo Dome main event, but this was at least far better as a main event than the match on Wrestle Kingdom the night before. Ricochet and ZSJ have a good match, but I think there were just too many expectations riding on this match for me to ever be fully blown away on top of them following the hottest match of this year's Tokyo Dome shows."
[9.0] "Such a fantastic match between both men with a lot of fantastic and technical in ring action and high flying spots between each other, both gave equally fantastic performances and were able to not be to overshadowed after the mental war that was Omega Vs Kidd."
[6.0] "A bit hard to care about after Kenny vs Gabe but this was still relatively solid. It was mostly the usual from these guys with some strong technical work from Zack and some fun high flying shit and heel work from Ricochet. Certainly quite a solid match and definitely a lot better than the match that closed out Wrestle Kingdom but given considering the match that happened before this one, this shouldn't have main evented. ***"
[8.0] "Great match with an amazing beginning and great kick-outs toward the end. I felt like the ending felt a little ankward as I was not expecting Ricochet to lose in that submission but likely anything they did before was great; avalanche Zack Driver was awesome. ****1/4"
[7.0] "This probably would have killed in Reseda 8 years ago; but as it stands it had the unfortunate task of following Omega/Kidd and these two were never going to be able to do so. That being said, I do think they had a reasonably good match here with most of it consisting of ample dueling stiff strikes - lots of hard kicks from both, some incredibly precise european uppercuts from Zack, etc. Additionally, both guys got to show their strengths as well with Ricochet showcasing some of his crisp high flying (the highlight of which was absolutely him jumping ZSJ off the bell with consecutive dives/springboard maneuvers) and Zack countering with some technical/submission work although he really didn't go to that well too often - besides him initially cutting him off early by catching Ricochet's guard rail moonsault attempt with a cravate transitioned into one of his trademark leg grapevine neck twists. The relatively slow pace (by these guys' standards) and tepid crowd, no doubt burned out from the 30+ minute semi main, definitely left this one feeling less impactful than I think it would have in another more favourable setting but the work itself was enjoyable enough and the 20 minutes went by in rather short order."
[6.0] "I thought this was a good match that went too long. Ricochet probably looked the best here since he left the WWE and Zack looked much more comfortable in there with someone not named Shota Umino. Fun match, about what I expected. *** 3/4"
[7.0] "[3.5*] Great Main Event that had the worst spot of the night. It was just impossible to follow Kenny vs Gabe and props to them for clearly changing the match style for a super fast-paced beginning, it helped the crowd to engage with them. Miles better than the WK ME, a super 20-min easy watch. I will admit, it was hard for me to forget about the previous WAR that we witnessed, but they did their job in a pretty nice way. This absolutely should have not been the Main Event, tho."
[7.0] "Was in a bad spot having to follow Gabe vs. Omega, but I thought that this was a perfectly fine match. Got better as it progressed. Nothing very memorable for sure, but a really damn solid match bell to bell."
[8.0] "Hmm...this should have been a 10. I am bit disappointed. And still giving the 8 shows what they actually are capable off. The beginning was amazing and then the first 10 minutes were exciting but then it turned into a normal match. Ricochet shows stuff twice after each other and the match time was short and overall the ending was boring and sudden. It seemed like that the Japanese crowd wasn't that invested. ****"
[7.0] "Man - if there was ever a match that exemplifies "the championship does not need to go on last" this is it right here. Hate comparing it to other stuff and not just judging on its own, but the show didn't happen in a vacuum. That feeling of Ricochet's theme hitting after the high of Omega-Kidd was just sinking. Both guys put in a great effort but it did not feel like a climactic main event, impossible to enjoy in the moment and the crowd was not feeling it. Commentary calling ZSJ the best wrestler in the world was hilarious after what we had just seen prior was incredible."
[7.0] "It wasn't easy to get past the Kidd/Omega, but this match was a pleasure to follow, in a rather interesting register. The lack of suspense and build-up didn't help, but the wrestlers' performance and this fine stylistic confrontation made for a pretty decent main event. In-ring quality: 2.5/4. Stakes: 2/2. Justification: 0.25/1. Place on the map: 1/1. Suspense: 0/1. Bonus/Malus: None. Total: 6.75/10. Match seen on NJPW World."
[6.0] "Didn't help at all that this was following the Omega/Kidd match. In comparison this match just felt like it was lacking in the emotion and intensity i've come to expect from a Tokyo Dome main event, while the work itself was completely fine I just never felt invested, not just because of the match that came before it but also that it was clear Ricochet wasn't going to be walking out of this show IWGP champion"
[9.0] "[4.5 Stars] I'd like to salute the performance of Zack and Ricochet who came through after an extraordinary match and frankly you could have put anyone after that it wouldn't have been as good. I had a good time in the ring, even if it lacked suspense. (****, 5)"
[8.0] "Two pros following an all time classic match and not wilting under the pressure. Obviously not as good as the match prior, but still a very good , well worked match."
[7.0] "Not enough history between the two, not enough intensity from either wrestler, not enough story to pull up any emotion, but still a very technically and athletically impressive offering. Just enough to be good but not special."
[6.0] "This was fine, but crowd was wiped out from the Omega match, and it just lead to a cold main event that no one really cared about. Ricochet wasn't the guy for this spot. You can put a PWG Main Event in a big building, but that does not make it good and or memorable."
[9.0] "I was super excited for this style clash main eventing and having the title on the line, their chemistry is apparent and ricochets heel person works here, i really hope he finds success with it in AEW. I liked the fast start and they really didnt disappoint when it came to the style clash while also telling the story that since their last meeting ric is a heavyweight now, suplexing him like 5 times in a row all over the arena, causing zack to really dig deep to get the win."
[8.0] "(Grade:B-/****) First off, this match should've been the penultimate match and have Kenny vs. Gabe as the main event. Beside that, I thought this was a good main event despite some issues. It started off hot Ricochet using his aerial advantage against ZSJ before the bell rang and kept on the offense though at times throughout the match some of the offense weren't hitting except for that Northern suplex/ vertical suplex combo that led to a suplex on the apron which was good. ZSJ continues to show why he's the champion being able to talk shit and prove it."
[5.0] "A remarkably dull main event in front of a cold crowd. Ricochet kicked off a main event with a hot start which left a bad taste in my mouth. This tedious match ended with an anticlimactic verbal tapout and felt longer than its actual runtime. I felt relieved after this was done. Completely overshadowed by Omega/Kidd."
[8.0] "It was a great match but placed wrong in the match order. After Kenny's match, I couldn't get into this one as much, but they clearly worked hard to make something great."
[8.0] "Riccohet had been a bit inconsitent since coming into AEW, with some great matches but some underwhelming performances as well. The main event of the Tokyo Dome was a huge test, and I think he acclimated himself excellently to the main event style, mixing in some strikes and power moves that he pulled off well and convincingly alongside his usual spectacular high flying. Zack did a tremendous job countering and transitioning into holds as always, and I thought the two had an excellently worked match that managed to compliment each other well despite the vast difference in styles. While it won't live up to some all-time great Tokyo Dome main events, it was a great match that was able to live up to the spot."
[7.0] "I wanted to like this more and having Ricochet jump Sabre to start was wise after they had to follow the Omega and Kidd match. It was much better than Sabre vs Umino as Ricochet worked a more intense pace and I thought he did look good here. Three and three quarters stars, I think it was hard to buy Ricochet as a challenger going in but he did work his ass off here."
[10.0] "On attempt 2, one of my faves in the world in Zack had a Tokyo Dome main event that I loved! These two had an incredibly tall task in following Kidd vs Omega, but I think the way they went about it was really clever! This started fast and stayed that way throughout the match, it was surprisingly physical, and I think Zack in particular really looked like more of a killer here and showed some damn urgency! Really happy with how this turned out, and it drew a really emotional reaction out of me, especially after my negative feelings towards yesterday's main event. Zacky champion rolls on!"
[5.0] "A boring cold main event between two very talented athletes with no personality. This was better than the Sabre/Umino match from the previous night do mostly to only being half as long. This was another example of two guys who can do impressive moves, but do nothing to make me care about them at all."
[8.0] "Okay, this was good. Kinda remind me of some matches both guys had in the american indies for like 2010-2016, a really good era which both wrestlers are in the beggining of their real power. Good match, should be better, but NJPW didn't realise that Omega vs Kidd it will be a all timer and the crowd was so tired for the main event. This make the experience a little bit worse, not gonna lie"
[6.0] "A cold main event but it was better than Shooter vs. ZSJ from Wrestle Kingdom. Ricochet needs more of a mean streak if he wants to be taking seriously as a heel, at least for me. In a way I'm glad he threw punches but they looked kinda soft and didn't look like he was doing a Daisuke Ikeda by throwing them for real. ZSJ honestly didn't do much different from his usual repertoire. In fact this had a very TV match pacing to it, which is weird for a Dome Main Event. Three Stars out of Five."
[7.0] "****1/4 a very good match, they delivered, very good sequences, very good chemistry, Ricochet was able to show off, Zack looked very good, very good rhythm and very good duration that was completely appropriate for the match, and a very good ending with Zack destroying Ricochet with a beautiful submission"
