Against a no-nonsense opponent who wanted nothing more than to make the laziest man in wrestling take the industry seriously, Cassidy was forced to dig deep and overcome what may have been the worst beatdown he has ever experienced. He was bloody, bruised, and decimated by a long list of stiff strikes. I had only recently familiarized myself with Cassidy and was thrilled to have stumbled upon this one. A brutal battle that showed why OC is one of the most complete wrestlers in the world today in terms of balancing character work and what he does in the ring. 4.25 stars, 8.5 out of 10. |

I sometimes think he's too much and then I see a match like this and he completely wins me over. David Starr is playing this one straight and doesn't have time for Cassidy's lazy shtick. Cassidy tries to do his comedy spots and Starr roughhouses him with some seriously stiff shots, turning Cassidy into a blood orange. Starr belittles Cassidy for not treating wrestling with the respect it deserves, but when Starr fails to replicate Cassidy's famous no-hands kip-up, the tide changes. Starr has just proven that Cassidy is better than Starr at some things. What follows next are some of the most gripping hope spots I've seen in a long time, in an Orange Cassidy match of all places. This isn't as spot-heavy as you would expect from a Beyond Wrestling match in 2018, but instead, it offers you some sublime pro-wrestling storytelling. |

He clearly knows how to wrestle and the sorts, but his style is very generic, or I should say very babyface generic which means lots of hope spots and big moves out of nowhere for dramatic nearfalls. Lots of people dig it, I just think it's ok. |

This match has all perfect storytelling, a perfect heel work by David Starr and a perfect babyface by Orange Cassidy and the addition of blood in the face of Cassidy gave the match a dramatic touch. |

Orange Cassidy is an amazing babyface: his gimmick is really funny and the crowd absolutely loves him, his selling was great (that DDT on the apron... ), the bit of blood added a nice touch by accident which is cool. I loved the spot where he announced loudly his Canadian Destroyer; given his gimmick nobody believes he'll do it, and then 5 minutes later he does a beautiful and explosive one and the crowd goes wild (I don't know if it's one of his signature spots, but it's great). This serves the story here, which is that Cassidy is underestimated by Starr, because 1/ he beats the shit out of him and gets cocky instead of finishing the job, and 2/ Cassidy keeps kicking out when he really shouldnt if he's the laziest wrestler in the world. Starr told this simple story and stayed focused on it, with trash talk and some brutal offense, which made Cassidy shine; he played his role perfectly here. The ending is cool, with once again Cassidy having a burst of energy; this also layers the character, as it shows he can obviously wrestle and has explosive energy, which can be released any time, making you wonder if his goofy presentation is just mind games. I don't know how great this match is if you already know Starr and Cassidy, but this was a great match which makes me want to check out more. |

Was aber wieder echt genial war, was er mit der Brille kann und wie er immer mit Händen in den Hosentaschen David auswich. Man hat aber gesehen wenn Orange mal so richtig sauer wird wie hier dann zeigt er was er im Ring drauf hat auch hat David ihm hier aber so richtig die Nase gebrochen (***1/2). |

Cassidy here was ridiculously over with the crowd, everyone in the audience was dying for him to win. Starr was a savage here and did not hesitate to pull out all the stops in order to become the no. 1 contender for the independent/powerbombtv championship. Just when the crowd thought that Cassidy was down and out, he made a beautiful comeback and finally managed to overcome his vicious opponent. ****1/2 |
