25.03.2024 | jjcharg77 | 7.0 | im reading the reviews to this match and most of the negative ones probably only saw arquette's doc/movie, where they cut this match down a lot. it was a bad accident and did ruin the match but the match itself was fine. they storytelling in this is great and the actual wrestling shocked me a lot with how much I enjoyed it. if you only saw the movie, I encourage you to actually check the match out, they both did good

30.03.2023 | winston | 1.0 | I was in the crowd for this, and it was pretty shocking (and immeadietly obvious) when things started to go wrong. The primary point of pro-wrestling is to stage entertaining and/or engaging physical battles with a pre-determined conclusion in order to make money, but at least the secondary point has to be to do so in the safest way possible (as this means the performers can come back and draw more money for everyone, AND there won't be any costs associated with injuries). With that in mind, this was certainly engaging, so successful in some regards, but it failed so completely at the part where the participants are supposed to be safe that I can really only give it a maximum of a 1.
17.03.2023 | CommisarRobe | 0.0 | Gage is a nasty thug and this match is a perfect example of the disgusting nature of the so called "Death match" idea of Wrestling. A terrifying cut to Arquette makes this match nearly unwatchable.
09.03.2023 | gargoylesmain | | An interesting match. Very violent but kinda ugly, Arquette did a good enough job in what absolutely had to be a scary type of match for a non-wrestler, but obviously the situation went sideways fast with that nasty neck spot.

18.06.2021 | pierreMinne | 6.0 | This was a good title defense from Nick Gage until the ending that we all know. We have a lot of good spots, and Gage connects with the crowd like nobody else, it's pretty impressive. With a better ending my rating would have been higher, but Arquette did a good job for a non wrestler. ***1/4
22.05.2021 | Four Pillars of Hell | 2.0 | A disgusting display of unprofessionalism from an unprofessional jerk in Nick Gage. As I have said countless times before, THE NUMBER ONE RULE IN WRESTLING IS KEEPING YOUR OPPONENT SAFE. Arquette came into this match with one rule-not to touch his face. The rest of the match is fine, Arquette takes plenty of gross spots from Gage who is as violent and unhinged as ever. Arquette's ONE request of the entire match was thrown out the window when Gage cut him up with a pizza cutter, completely breaking any trust the two had. Gage goes a step further and attempts to murder Arquette with a sharp piece of light tube to his neck, nearly severing multiple arteries and murdering Arquette. If you get carried away like that and break the rules your opponent put in place, you should be nowhere near a wrestling ring. Gage is unsafe and does not care about his opponent's well being, and he should not be given this stage to 'go overboard' again and actually maim someone.

11.12.2020 | Mr Bungle | 1.0 | This was disgusting to watch and represents everything I hate about the modern-day indies. David Arquette is obviously a very passionate wrestling fan and I have the utmost respect for him in trying to live out his dream. However, he botched every move he did in this match and it was clear he had no business being in there. That's not his fault though, he just has a lack of experience. When you have a guy who lacks experience, a smart booker finds ways to hide that and work around it. Instead, GCW has exploited him for his name value, taken advantage of his enthusiasm & willingness to try anything, and put him in a dangerous situation he clearly wasn't prepared for. The ending is tough to watch as it looks like Arquette is in serious pain and doesn't want to be there. My low rating is not because I dislike this style, it's because a negligent promotion booked a match where a man got his neck slit open and could have easily died. My personal grievances aside, this just isn't a good match from a quality standpoint. It's sloppy, poorly paced, features a dumb Joey Ryan spot, has a terrible finish, etc. If not for the novelty factor, nobody would have watched this.

22.02.2019 | respect-wres | 8.0 | This has to be seen to be believed. Arquette went all out here and proved that he deserves to be in a wrestling ring. Nick Gage was the deathmatch lunatic that his fanbase loves. Brutality at it's finest.
