[10.0] "I've never seen a triple threat with such good chemistry in so long, especially in 2024, where triple threats that year didn't seem to have their best moments, but this one, my god, was incredible. I don't even know how to describe this match. It was fast-paced, very brawling, and very technical, but actually, now that I think about it, they all did it, they all did it at the same time! This match unintentionally combined all kinds of wrestling! Maybe I'm exaggerating, but this match was pretty good. A triple threat is what's needed today. Triple threats these days are about doing your thing, and then this person does theirs, as if it were a 1v1 instead of a triple threat."
[8.0] "No wonder this match got a standing ovation by the crowd, it was brilliant. It was fast-paced, a spotfest it was but damn was it a good one. Takeshita finally winning a title was a great ending, pairing that with Fletcher betraying Ospreay, really good match."
[10.0] "Before I say anything, that TNA 2005 3 way reference with Ospreay and Ricochet kicking Takeshita and him saying stop kicking me was terrible. Anyways on with my review......this was just amazing with great sequences. These 3 put on a great match"
[9.0] "The match was impressive overall. While the ending did not meet my expectations and some no-selling moments seemed excessive, Ricochet and Ospreay displayed remarkable athleticism and outstanding performances. Furthermore, Takeshita proved himself by winning the championship, setting the stage for an exciting journey ahead."
[9.0] "Big soup is finally a champion! This match ruled but the don callis stuff completely ruined the ending for me. I seen the comps regarding this match to the unbreakable one back in tna. Nice try but no. Great match tho and despite not liking the ending cause of that baldy, Im intrigued to see where they go with this now. And since this, the dcf has regrouped nicely to where I don't get annoyed at seeing Don Callis on screen anymore. ****1/2"
[10.0] "One of the best triple threat matches ever. After coming from a situation where some fans would argue he was hindered by the booking in WWE; Ricochet shows everything he's capable of and gets elevated to the moon in this match with two of the best wrestlers on the planet. Spot fest? Sure, but my goodness it's elite. Also let's not forget some of the dope story elements that were a product of this match. Takeshita finally wins an AEW title and Will Ospreay gets involved in his first AEW deep rooted feud when Kyle Fletcher turns on him. Banger."
[9.0] "An excellent but a typical triple threat match that has all the elements of what makes an amazing three man match but at the same time, there was a generic feel throughout the match for me. Don't get me wrong, the action was as spectacular as the fans wanted, the pacing was high paced, the drama was there albeit not a lot of heat and these three worked well together. But unfortunately, this felt like a really well executed uninspired match to me, the match was spectacular in action but didn't have a lot of depth, it was one moment after another just for the sake of it, the wrestlers did their best but there was something lacking overall in terms of storytelling and overall depth. ****1/2"
[6.0] "this has the 2 big problems w ospreay matches where one all the moves are just nonstop and no-sold, look explicitly coordinated, and don't mean anything, and 2 when things start getting garganoy and he has to make faces and use his body language to convey the story instead of just doing moves in a certain type of way. The Takeshita ospreay revolution match is a masterpiece, but this is just too midcard fedy and spotty to be anything noteworthy."
[10.0] "A lot of high expectations went into this match and for me it really delivered but the three of them really delivered. The match perfectly showcased how much Konosuke Takeshita is a force to be reckoned with, at the same time the efforts of Ricochet and Will Ospreay really showcased their best strengths. We see Ricochet and Ospreay try to lead the offense against Takeshita, while Takeshita really just powers through the both of them which I REALLY LOVE. This match is one of the best matches in 2024 and I love everything about it. Hence, I give it a perfect score of 10."
[2.0] "I went into this with high hopes. I love Takeshita, I like Ospreay a lot, and Ricochet I can take or leave. But as soon as this opened with Takeshita doing the joke "stop teaming up on me" spot and then went straight into the Ricochet/Ospreay sequence we've seen a billion times except like ten times slower, I knew this was gonna be the opposite of what I like about wrestling, and I was right. So much of this match was taken up by the three guys standing there gormlessly waiting to be hit by moves, with no attempt to fight back, and whenever they tried to counter it looked so overreheased and cooperative. The worst type of spot fest, one that doesn't feel like a fight and instead feels like watching a rehearsed sequence of moves. Overbooked and underthought, I absolutely hated it."
[10.0] "As some people have mentioned in previous reviews, definitely a spotfest for a lot of it, but I guess it's pretty obvious that is not really a problem for me in the slightest. There are many reasons I'm rating this a 10 instead of just a 9, because realistically I would put it at simply a 9 due to it's vague structure (especially in comparison to other matches that all three men, especially Takeshita and Ospreay as of late, have had). There's just some things that elevate this match for me, even if it's more so what surrounds it. It's pretty obvious that Ricochet was severely hindered in the past, especially due to poor booking, and there was this hope that Ricochet in AEW would be like he was during his prime. Personally, I think this match confirms that in my eyes. Maybe it's just the fact that Takeshita and Ospreay are seriously some of the best workers in the company, and they pretty much elevate anyone by just sharing the same ring with them, but Ricochet really holds his own in this match. It was genuinely super nice just to see an energetic and lively Ricochet for once. Another big reason was the storyline that is built into this match, because besides it being a spotfest, there is some genuinely good stuff at the end especially. Kyle Fletcher turning on Ospreay was ingenious, only proven in the next PPV with his match against Ospreay. Takeshita finally winning a title in AEW because of it, though it still not feeling like it wasn't deserved. That stuff alone was brilliant. Those two reasons alone elevate this match, but also I genuinely think this is one fucking excellent showcase between these three. Sure, definitely predictable on who was going to win, but that's probably my only real complaint. Crazy that this match is nowhere near one of Ospreay's best of this year, yet it's still a 10 for me."
[7.0] "It was a good match, not just a dynamic match, but a real Spotfest. But there was one very good detail that makes this match a little more than a Spotfest. It was Takeshita's work and how it was presented here. That's why I give it a little higher rating than a typical Spotfest."
[6.0] "A few comments have perfectly summed up my thoughts on the match. Its a spotfest, a good one at that. But it fails to resonate with me. Some Will Ospreay matches do have a problem with going through the motions without registering with me. I liked plenty of spots and sequences, but I feel I can only give one man the credit for them. Outside Takeshita making Ospreay and Ricochet eat shit, there was nothing here that I enjoyed. Ricochet felt like an afterthought for most of the match and the chances he did get to shine were pretty underwhelming. I had high expectations going in and maybe a rewatch a few months down the line may make this match reach them."
[10.0] "Perfektes Match.20 Minuten Nonstopaction mit unfassbar sauberen Aktionen und grandioser Chemie, das Ende war so zu erwarten und war klasse Inszeniert. *****"
[10.0] "The best triple threat match of the year. Takeshita also had one of the best performances of the year and he looked like such a final boss. It was 5AM while I was watching this and I was losing my mind from start to finish."
[9.0] "Another absolute classic from Osprey who has had one of the best PPv match catalogs all year. Takeshita got his much deserved belt that he so desperately deserved and Ricochet got his first actual match on AEW PPV. The in-ring was amazing and I loved every bit of it. I'm excited to see Takeshita get an amazing run with the International belt because he is gonna absolutely shine with it."
[6.0] "It was good spotfest, but is is still spotfest. Zero emotions and just moves, moves, moves and very scripted moves. Idk, if you watch one Osprey match or Takeshita match in two month or rather, you may think that you've seen best wrestlers in the world, but after many matches I can say only that these guys very cool atlethtes with potential, but most of their matches only about moves and athleticism. I prefer emotions higher than moves in any day of week. And yes, some of their sequnces looking incredible."
[8.0] "this is my first time watching an AEW match and I have to say this match was great but not 5.5 stars great. I think all 3 men wrestle their heart out in this match. My only problem with this match was Way too many flips it and the pacing was a little to fast for my taste but still an amazing match"
[7.0] "7 Because of Takeshita presence..I've no interest at all to see Ricochet vs Ospreay and I don't blame the talents. But, as many times, the lack of storytelling is huge..without storyline, i'm not attached to the match even between two good athlets. Definitely not the "best triple threat ever", by faaaar"
[7.0] "I have to leave a comment to give this a 7/10. Maybe this site should rethink their policy. It was fun to watch. Ospreay continues to be your guy if you want movespam of the year. Just follow his match history. You know AEW doesn't have it's priorities straight when the lead announcer says, "credit to Takeshita for trying to end this match! ""
[9.0] "Considering the "In-Ring" action, this was my favorite match in the night, a excellent Three Way Match, where you could see the strenghts of everyone involved. The only thing that keep me from giving it a perfect rate was the ending: I don't know, but the screwdriver spot was being used a lot on the past year or so, and it's starting to be repetitive; also, I was hoping for a Trios Title run of Ospreay and Aussie Open. Sad. (****3/4)."
[8.0] "I heard that Dave Meltzer called this THE best triple threat match ever. It's not. Not for me anyway, but as you can see by the rating, it still cooked. I loved a lot of the spots here, but there were a lot of awkward ones, or some of them that took me out of the match because of how unrealistic it is. That's a problem with a lot of these cruiserweight flippy floppy AEW matches. They're always fun, but sometimes they just reach a point of a bit too much. Still, got some vibes of the TNA Triple Threat, and congrats to Konosuke Takeshita on this big win!"
[10.0] "This is such an absolute banger, TNA Unbreakable 2005 vibes. The spots are amazing, the storytelling between all of them is on point and the final sequence is amazingly brought. This is the best three way in AEW history (that I remember of). It was so excellent."
[10.0] "Wow. Such a hot start with the team-up against Takeshita, immediately into a perfect snapshot of the RicochetOpsreay matchup with a lovely acrobatics sequence that is roughly interrupted by Takeshita who proceeds to go back and forth brutalizing the other two; it's a damn good first three minutes. From there out it's pretty seamless in its pacing, well-balanced between strong, deliberate sequences and absurdly quick and agile ones, all of which do a phenomenal job at framing the individual relationships (the brotherhood/competition with Ricochet and Ospreay, the major issues and lack of respect between Ospreay and Takeshita, and the budding beef between a Takeshita who was yet to win a championship at AEW and Ricochet who's now on his second IC shot in barely a month with the company) while never feeling detached from the triple threat booking, not to mention featuring myriad phenomenal spots, brutal bumps, and wildly creative exchanges that involve all three men. The ultimate payoff with Don Callis/Fletcher/the Screwdriver was very well done (tho didn't make up for how stupid the previous spots have been), and practically every sequence during the last seven minutes leading into it had me staying out of my seat (Takeshita is such a beast it's absurd). Also, so good to see Konosuke finally win his belt in AEW, and a post-match that really sets the stage for the vibes of the rest of the show."
[10.0] "Man I have to give this a 10/10 because it was unbelievable and there were so many moments I genuinely have never seen before in a wrestling match but every time I watch an AEW PPV, they have these killer matches that almost always end in some sort of run-in. Unreal match. Absolutely unreal, but get a new way to develop storylines."
[10.0] "This match is the greatest triple Thread match off all time and it was so great and assuem and Konosuke Takeshita was very good in the ring all the time"
[10.0] "What an amazing fucking spotfests, the no-sell sequences were among the best ones wou 'll see this year. Also, all the Don Callis' family's situation is getting quite interesting and I don't mind they sacrificed the ending to continue it. Among all the incredible sequences, the one that started with the avalanche Clothesline was probably the best one. *****"
[8.0] "The kind of match you would expect from these guys. Incredibly athletic and fast paced action from start to finish. Crazy bumps, some big crowd popping spots. Takeshita was a real highlight here straight up no selling some offense to beat the fuck out of Will and Rico. Ricochet is great here as well. The finish was overbooked but the match before it was quite good so I can let is slide I guess. **** 1/2"
[8.0] "****3/4 a very great match, it was to be expected that the combination of the three would give this level, a very high constant rhythm, incredible sequences (which was the best of the match) and that they always used to involve the three as It must be in a Triple Threat Match, excellent spots, I loved that Takeshita constantly tried to stop the classic spectacular sequences of Ospreay and Ricochet as well as that lariat to Ospreay in his exaggerated "Fighting Spirit" moment that he uses, Takeshita won in a dirty way but it seems right to me because this way they can give way to Takeshita vs Ospreay 2 in Full Gear with enough fundamentals involved (without a doubt the MOTN), and another MOTY Contender to my Top 50 from Ospreay, which is having at the level the best year of his career perhaps along with his epic 2019"
[9.0] "[****3/4] What the hell were some of these spots. That sequence of: Poisonrana to Ricochet, to a counter poisonrana, to Takeshita suplexing both at the same time? Ricochet cutter to Take who DDTed Ospreay at the same time? Top turnbackle splash countered into a Death Valley Driver onto the ring apron? A PACKAGE PILEDRIVER TO THE OUTSIDE THROUGH A TABLE? The incredibly fluid counters and the fact that this actually felt like a triple threat instead of 3 1v1s. Takeshita looked like prime JBL with those clotheslines overall hard hitting strikes. Ricochet and Ospreays chemistry with each other is so good. This match was just so damn fun. Kyle Fletcher turning heel was also an interesting touch and overall this match elevated these 3 guys to higher heights."
[8.0] "Too many awkward spots where someone, usually Takeshita, had to stand around awkwardly vaguely pretending to be hurt while they set the next spot up and a bit too choreographed. Struggled for a lack of story and I hate seeing people kick out of finishers. Amazing spots though, with plenty of entertainment. The selling for Takeshita's strikes and lariats were a highlight. Really made them look authentically impactful."
[9.0] "Loads of fun to watch! Ospreay and Ricochet being bouncy boys is always entertaining, and Takeshita played his role so very well. Wish that Ospreay didnt lose the title here, but with the story they are going for, makes sense. Ricochet looked a bit rough at times here, wished he had pulled out a Benadryller, 630 Senton, even a Vertigo they teased. Didnt detract too much for me though, it almost feels like thats an adjustment hes still making moving to AEW and pulling those out of the arsenal a bit more. Will delivered per usual, and Takeshita had some nice spots with the DVD on the apron and his impressive Blue Thunder Bomb. The Poisonrana trades were a nice touch, followed by Takes double German. Takes not really (for me) in a position to be champion yet, I personally thought his character needed more development, but hopefully this championship reign elevates it more"
[7.0] "Some sequences/spots worked and a lot of the counters were pretty fun, but others not so much. On the whole, it's still a consistently entertaining match and all three are very talented, I just wish the spots flowed a little more naturally into each other. Oh and that Takeshita/Ricochet table spot ruled."
[10.0] "Now THIS was my match of the night man, this was just amazing, from the references to the Unbreakable triple threat, to the superhero movie-esque dynamics, everything was just perfect and the angle at the end genuinely was executed really well, the Fletcher turn hurt my soul but it was done great and while I didn't expect Ospreay to drop the belt so soon, I'm still happy for Takeshita because he has deserved to hold singles gold for SO long man, everyone showed out and this is one of my favorite 3-ways of all time personally..."
[9.0] "Match of the night for sure and I had a feeling it would be just looking at the card. It became clear after the ending of Ospreay V Ricochet that they'd be holding out for something much bigger and this delivered. Having Ospreay and Ricochet give the fans what they want and then having Takeshita kill the momentum with devastating blows and power moves made for great ring psychology and well deserved heel heat. I can gush about how good Ospreay and Ricochet are but the true star and deserved winner was Takeshita. Ever since I first saw him take on Kenny Omega I knew that this was a guy to bet on and then when his big feud with Omega left him idling it had me nervous but this new feud with Ospreay is exactly what he needs and its off to a great start. Put him over two top babyfaces that dont need the wins, give him a belt and legitimize him. Adding Kyle Fletcher to the mix? even better. This would've been a perfect match for me but there were a few spots that needed some stalling an repositioning but hell even what I assume was a botch was beautifully covered up by the trios immense chemistry"
[10.0] "Konosuke Takeshita vs. Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet was absolutely phenomenal. One of the greatest three-way matches of all time with nonstop action, brilliant storytelling and an impactful finish w/Kyle Fletcher turning heel on Ospreay. All three men were spotlighted with Ospreay & Ricochet's hybrid strong style and high flying blending well with Takeshita's physicality and agility. This was a masterpiece in every way possible (*****)."
[10.0] "Really, really fun match. The only thing I could imagine as a bad thing in here were some moments in which there were some very collaborative spots, specially between Ospreay and Ricochet, and then the three of them together. But still, a very good match, full of fun spots and the heel turn at the ending was interesting as well, since it has been teased for a while. It's amazing seeing Takeshita win the title, and also to hear how over he was throughout the entire match."
[9.0] "This was absolutely amazing. One of the best triple threat matches of all time. Everything flowed so smooth, i loved the dynamic between all three wrestlers you have the two speedy highflyers in Ricochet and Ospreay balanced out with the powerful and hard hitting Takeshita. Super fun Match you should definitely give it a watch"
[7.0] "I mean I have a big problem with this match. I feel like they wanted to like pack too much in too little time, so they made a lot of nonsense no-sells and some sequences felt less important than they should've been potrayed as. Still a lot of bumps and counters were absouletely fantastic and all three men presented incredible athletism but it all felt like it didn't have much of a structure. I may sound controversial but I actually loved the finish with Kyle turning on Will cause it came kinda out of nowhere and their feud god damn I'm really looking forward to seeing it. I know this might have downgraded the importance of Takeshita's victory but I'm less mad about that than I would've thought."
[5.0] "[5.0] I had quite high expectations for this match because of Takeshita. Everytime this match started getting interesting Ospreay would start doing his filthy no selling and it would ruin the whole maych for me. The match startee quite good with both faces going for the heel. Then they both did their stupid mirror sequence where they perform million headsprings and do a superhero landing. Such an annoying spot. But Takeshita kicking them both out was great. I loved that. Takeshita was easily the best performer in this. Ricochet was decent as well. But holy shit Ospreay is so annoying to watch when he is on autopilot. He won't sell shit. You could hit him with a bazooka and he would get back. And his theatrics before doing a simple running to the ropes. Takeshita was doing great. His strikes were great and impactful. He was selling good. He was playing a good heel. Don Callis drama was a little extra but I didn't mind it. In fact I liked Fletcher's heel turn. But I think belt could have been placed on Takeshita without this interference. And they could have beat down Ospreay after the match. Anyway this match had a lot of potential but Ospreay's no selling just squandered any of that."
[8.0] "This was a very fun spotfest type match, but the shenanigans in the ending left me feeling a bit colder on it than I usually would. Still, this was a fantastic match and it's great to see Takeshita hold a title in AEW."
[10.0] "Unbelievable. Match of the Year contender. Three of the most athletic performers in wrestling doing everything they could to make their opponents look incredible, and succeeding. Ricochet's gymnastic style informed by flippy indie shit and lucha is outstanding. Will Ospreay's mix of Great Sasuke and strong style unparalleled. And Konosuke Takeshita, the standout of this match, is shedding the skin of a younger Kenny Omega and finding that he might be a modern Kenta Kobashi butterfly instead. The pacing was frenetic. The spots were brutal. The drama had me on the edge of my seat. Ricochet legitimized his decision to come to AEW in a way that his Ospreay singles match didn't. Yet he was also shown to be missing something, a final touch that Takeshita and Ospreay both had. Takeshita showed he was nearly more powerful than two men combined, and had Don Callis as an ace up his sleeve when he came up just short. Ospreay showed he was still the assassin, but that he was also a trusting fool. The match's end was not only an incredibly satisfying conclusion to one of AEW's best story arcs, but also the start of a new arc that only has more drama and tension (and inevitably outstanding matches)."
[10.0] "We need to extend star rating simply for this kind of matches because rating 10 is definitely not enough. Hope is match get infinity stars. Crazy sequence throughout. Was grasping for air for most of it. Absolutely insane chemistry between all three. Wouldn't mind seeing a best out of 7 series three way"
[10.0] "One of my absolute favorite matches of the year, and definitely in my shortlist for match of the year. It combined the highflying of Ospreay and Ricochet with the strong style of Takeshita perfectly. It had a couple of the coolest spots I have ever seen, including a Bastard Driver off the apron through a table (Which Ricochet sold for like 5 minutes), Takeshita suplexing two people, and more."
[9.0] "Terrific match, emphatically delivering on the matchup's obvious appeal. At times, this is outrageous in both directions, though far more often on the positive end of that scale. The highlight is Takeshita's presentation, being protected throughout, constantly shined up as the outlier among this trio. That dynamic is in line with the setup too, as Takeshita again plays disruptor during Ospreay and Ricochet's familiar duels. That keeps things somewhat grounded, maintaining a level of physicality that stands tall alongside the flashiness. Unfortunately, I didn't love the finish's execution, though that may be more related to a growing fatigue with these cutscene conclusions. Either way, this rocked, a total thriller. ****1/4"
[10.0] "All three men knew that Takeshita was the key cog here. What he can do physically with guys who are bigger and stronger than ever before is so impressive. Glad I got to see his first AEW Title win."
[8.0] "I'm not sure how to feel about a match like this but I'm mostly positive on it. The action was a little too much at times but there were a few good spots. It did get a little too cute for its own good at times, such as with the top rope Frankensteiner in which I'm sure Takeshita was supposed to catch Ricoshet and maybe get Dragonrana'd or something. That kind of thing is pushing it even if they had pulled it off. Takeshita was presented like a beast right up until needing an interference ending to win. For all of the crazy high-flying moves, it's probably Takeshita's strikes I'll most remember from this (the other guys did a good job of bumping for them, too)."
[9.0] "Before this match Id have never seen a full Takeshita match before. And my, he really impressed me during this match. All the competitors in this match did some fantastic work. You got your usual high flying, no selling car crash wrestling, along side Takeshitas strong style offense. Then, you got a turn from Ospreays best friend which was fantastic. Ricochet was great in this match but I think he was much better in the WWE. He is now in a promotion where there are multiple other wrestlers who can do the things he does. If only the WWE allowed him to put on matches of this caliber hed probably be a champion (with a good manager) by now. Anyways, Takeshita deserved the win here, great showing from all the competitors in the match, and the only thing keeping this match from being a 10 was the beginning where Ricochet and Will do their usual counter wrestling. You have been here long enough you dont need to keep during the superhero landing spot every time."
[10.0] "An absolute banger, this match easily enters my top 5 of this year 2024. The fluidity in the ring, the combos and the chemistry between the three is completely incredible. This match reminded me a lot of AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels at TNA Unbreakable 2005 and even surpassed it a little. I was shocked at every sequence of the match, for me there's really nothing to throw away, it was just magical. As for Kyle Fletcher's turn at the end, I have to say I wasn't expecting that, I was expecting him to reform United Empire in the very near future, or at least everything pointed to that, I'm intrigued by what's in store for us and honestly a rivalry between Ospreay and Fletcher has me very excited."
"This match was very much a throw everything at the wall to, see what sticks type ordeal, which isnt bad but in this instance isnt all that good. While I do think there were things in this match that I found fun such as Takeshita hitting Rico with a B-Driver through the table, and some other stuff Takeshita did, but outside of that there wasnt much that stuck for me personally. As I stated at the top this felt like they were just trying to throw anything and everything they possibly could at the wall to make it stick, but a lot of the match felt somewhat disjointed, so when Ospreay and Ricochet were doing their usual moves with the factor of Take, it just kinda floundered if that makes sense. Also that ending was just corny, I get the shock of Kyle turning on Will, but I feel as if we could have done that possibly after the match, because with that being the finish, it kinda makes Takeshitas win not that credible. Overall just a very strange match when looking back on it, it was fun in the moment but nothing really sticks or is to impactful in the end. My rating [***.75]."
[9.0] "(Grade:A-) This was phenomenal! I enjoyed the callback to Daniels/Styles & Joe with Ospreay & Ricochet kicking Takeshita! Takeshita with the star-making performance especially with other athletic star in there to bounce off of one and another! My only complaints is the Don Callis shenanigan that occurred in the end though it didn't sour my joy of Takeshita finally holding gold for the first time in AEW!"
[9.0] "what in the unbreakable '05 was this, one of the best three ways I've ever seen. takeshita really was the star of the show in the majority of this match, ricochet doing the Sasuke special only for takeshita to catch him was excellent, just for will to hit another sasuke special himself, takeshita also had his 2v1 moments taking out ospreay with the wheelbarrow suplex that will no soled in a call back to their previous match only for takeshita to hit a monster clothesline, showing growth in his character. ricochet then tried for a springboard cutter only for takeshita to catch him into a blue thunder bomb, he honestly is a top 3-5 wrestler in the world right now. he also had spots where he German suplexed both of them at the same time then later hit rico with a tombstone through a table on the outside. don then saved the match for takeshita before kyle fletcher then turned on will. this fully worked me, i did not see this coming at all. ****3/4"
[9.0] "Insane triple threat, as I expected it to be so. Takeshita was a damn beast, Ospreay being the great wrestler that he is and Ricochet just doing his things. The match was awesome. I loved everything about it and I really didn't expect Fletcher to turn on Ospreay. I'm also extremely glad they finally put the title on Takeshita, even though I thought they were gonna have Takeshita/Okada for the Continental title. Overall, I loved it."
[5.0] "Ungainly at a lot of points and the more video game wrestling moments didn't have the athletics let alone psychology to stand on their own. Unfortunately that was a large portion of the match. Still two of the three are some of the better offensive wrestlers working today (more credit to takeshita in this match, whose big strikes and suplexes interrupting the other two's sequences babyfaced him to me and what seems like a non-zero percent of the crowd who liked seeing a bad dude kick people's asses.). Also went a bit too long for what it was. Melodrama at the end wasn't the worst, but didn't love it either."
[9.0] "**** 1/2. Phenomenal athleticism and entertaining from start-to-finish. Takeshita giving Ricochet a jumping Tombstone from the apron through a table--I mean, wow, the kind of stuff I would have never imagined when I first started watching wrestling 20+ years ago. It's not a perfect match. The lack of selling big moves prevents that. But one of the best three-way matches you are going to find."
[10.0] "Ricochet and Ospreay both start out attacking Takeshita with kicks. Ospeay and Ricochet reverse all of their stuff, do their double pose, and Takeshita hits them both with a double dropkick. Throws Will and Ricochet into the guardrails. Ddt to Ricochet. Takeshita takes out a table, Will gets sent into the ringpost, Ricochet and Takeshita tease using the table, Takeshita goes over the rope after a failed knee to the corner, Ricochet hits a Sasuke Special that Takeshita catches him on, but Ospreat hits another Sasuke Special to take both guys out. Flying forearm by Ospreay in the rim, Takeshita kicks out. Some really nice three way offense ending with a ddt frim Takeshita at the same time as a running neckbreaker by Ricochet onto Takeshita. Ricochet hits a running moonsault, Takeshita kicks out. Ricochet goes for a rolling thunder but takeshita levels him with a forearm. Ospreay ducks a lariat and hits a handplant roundhouse to both guys. Takeshita and Ospreay tease the table, going back and forth. ospreay jumps into Takeshitas desth valley driver, and Ricochet gets a double knee from the second rope on Takeshita. Takeshita is lying on the table, standing spanish fly on Ricochet by Will, Ospreay goes for a Stormbreaker but Ricochet reverses it with a tijeras pin, kicked out of at 2. Hidden Blade is reversed by Ricochet as well, 450 splash comes up empty for Ricochet, Styles Clash from Ospreay, and Takeshita breaks up the pin. Ospreay and Takeshita battle it out in the middle of the ring, takeshita hits some nice moves including a deadlift german and a big lariat, Ricochet fights back but jumps into a Blue Thunder Bomb, Ricochet kicks out. Takeshita just eats Ricochet and Will Ospreays strike but he just levels them both. Ricochet and Ospreay team up to take down Takeshita, but hes so great he just levels them before they can do damage to them. Nice spot. Step up enziguiri then catches the oscutter. takeshita goes for a belly to back but Ospreay lands on his feet, a big lariat that turns Ospreay inside out results in him winding up on his feet when Takeshita doesnt notice, gets hit with the Oscutter, Ricochet his a 450 springboard splash, Ospreay kicks out while Takeshita also tried to stop it. Ricochet lifts Will up to the top rope. Will slips out, ricochet gets put into the elevator by Takeshita, Ospreay hits a doomsday on him but somehow Ricochet lands on his feet, Takeshita gets hit by a german suplex by both guys consecutively, Ospreay hits him with a reverse rana, Ricochet qhits him with one of his own, then Takeshita german suplexes both guys at the same time. Standing ovation. Takeshita hits a tope con hilo, Ricochet kicks out at two. Big boot by Takeshita to Ric in the corner, Takeshita lifts him up to the top rope, ospreay cuts him off and gors for a tijeras from the top rope, Ricochet lands in Takeshitas arms and reverses that into a pin. Hidden blade by Will is reversed into a spinning heel kick by Ricochet, Ricochet hits a shooting star press, gets booted backwards on top of Will, takeshita pins them both and they both kick out. Takeshita looks to the table, Ricochet avoids for a while with a leaping stomp, Takeshita grabs him and hits a huge package onto the table, Ospreay hits the hidden blade on takeshita but he kicks out before the 1 count, another hidden blade, this time Don Callis pulls Takeshita out of the ring. Tries to drive the screwdriver in the head, Callis is reversed as Ospreay goes for a tiger driver, someone comes into the ring in a hoodie and stops Will, and its Kyle Fletcher. All 3 giys surroing him as Takeshita drops his knee pad, Fletcher throws the ref in the ring. 3 count, Takeshita wins. Fantastic fucking match. 10/10. Right guy won. Fletcher hits a tiger driver 91 in the post match on Ospreay."
[8.0] "A thoroughly entertaining match, especially in its second half. Although Ricochet still felt like a third wheel at times, the match benefited greatly from being a triple threat imo and everyone had their time in the spotlight. I thought the ending was pretty good, as it protected Ospreay, Takeshita didn't look weak despite the cheat and Ricochet didn't take the pin. Overall, despite not being a MOTYC, it still was an enjoyable match with many great moments and even if someone isn't fan of the wrestling style of the other two, Takeshita's involvement tones it down and makes it more grounded."
[9.0] "Workrate: The Match. From the standpoint of pure athleticism this is the most impressive match I've ever seen. It didn't get me emotionally which is what is holding me from the 10/10 rating, and I rolled my eyes at the Callis family intervention, but my goodness this was amazing spot into amazing spot into amazing spot. Another Will Ospreay classic and match of the night contender, but I never really bought Ricochet as having an equal chance to win as the other two and I think the inherent difficulties with making Triple Threats *feel* also holds this back a little. But one of the most fun matches to just watch."
[0.0] "I'll just preface this by saying I don't expect AEW to book matches or force a style only to my taste, take a look at the reaction of most people and you'll know there's value in a match like this, I don't deny it. I can only speak from my own preference, that's all anybody can really do. With that said, I thought this match was just about the most annoying thing I've seen all year. The extremely prolonged counter war segment that started with the completely blown off Doomsday Device has got to be one of my least favorite things I've seen in wrestling, just so utterly phony, choreographed, no sell, go go go, only good for a highlight real moment. Sequences like that make me wonder why I should take any move seriously in all of wrestling, just broadcasting as loudly as possible "NONE OF THIS HURTS BUT GEE DON'T WE LOOK LIKE COOL ATHLETES WHILE WE DO IT? MORE STARS PLEASE! " And good lord, all this just for the sake of a transparent betrayal championed by the man nobody could possibly still care about, Don Callis and his exceedingly cold family. What a way for Takeshita to finally get a title in the US. Oh well, I'll put my salty comments away now, go back to enjoying this if it's your thing and more power to you, it's just vehemently not for me."
[2.0] "It feels like I'm saying this a lot nowadays, but this match is only good when condensed into a highlight tape. Don't get me wrong, Soup winning a title is cool and all, but this style of wrestling has turned into a bore for me quickly. So many big movez for the sake of just doing them, so when nothing gets sold (because of the need to gear up for another move), they mean nothing. Don't get me started on the crowd, either. All the pops for all the spots felt so fake, and it annoyed the hell out of me. Fletcher coming in was whatever, so I guess he and Will are gonna feud and produce more stuff like this. Ugh. 1.25 Stars, IG? (I do want to make it clear I only watched this because it lands in the yearly top 100 on cagematch, as I need it for my MOTY/WOTY writeup project. Would've skipped it otherwise.)"
[10.0] "One of the greatest matches I seen live, most definitely the greatest triple threat I've ever seen thus far. These guys blew my expectations out the roof, I will surely show my non wrestling fans highlights of this masterpiece. Though i will say the ending threw me off a little bit. AEW should've had Kyle turn on will AFTER the bell rung. But despite that, this match was unbelievable and I was in invested the whole time. I'm just gonna forget the interference and focus purely on the action from the competitors. Once again, one of the greatest matches I ever seen somewhat on par with "Bryan Danielson vs Will Ospreay" earlier this year at dynasty. ******"
"the only thing that makes this less worthy of 5 stars is the ending, why is all elite so obsessed with interventions during matches omg. Anyway it was freakin amazing and i like the new champ. ****1/2."
[8.0] "Insane fireworks show wrestling from 3 of the best in the world at the genre. One noteworthy missed spot, but it's largely the ending that narrowly blocks this from attaining true all time greatness in the format. I get you have a plan for Kyle and Will, the company needs to push new guys and if you want to get behind Kyle that's fine. But the crowd reaction to the angle was nowhere NEAR the reaction the match was getting, so prioritise the match. Have Takeshita win clean, then have him do a fake handshake respect spot to sucker Will in and have Kyle attack from behind. Same angle, but it lets the finish of the match peak in the building."
[7.0] "[7.75] A very interesting match with some great moments. However, the ending felt very off-tone, and I didn't quite feel emotionally invested in the betrayal because it's been so on-again, off-again with Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher. Well worth seeing, and one of the best matches of the night, for sure. I'm interested in seeing what Takeshita does with the belt moving forward."
[8.0] "I probably watched it too late and knew most of the big spots and finish. If I had watched this live, I'd likely be rating higher. That said, the balance of Takeshita against these two acrobats is so unreal and so fun. I cannot wait to see where this man goes. This is wrestling in all the wonderous ways that I love. I don't hate the finish, but wish we could have found a way to just have Takeshita go over as strong as he was the entire match. He didn't need the help. That said, maybe that's the point. We advance the story, have an insane match and everyone looks strong. 4 Stars"
[10.0] "Holy shit this is the best three-way match I have ever seen. These three are so impressive and fluid that it felt like I was riding a roller coaster. I literally gasped when Takeshita put Ricochet through the table. The double poisonrana into a double german could power my love of wrestling forever. 10/10"
[10.0] "***** (10/10) We all knew the triple threat would steal the show. What Ospreay fight on an AEW PPV does receive the claim of match of the night (and, in some cases, match of the year)? ... exactly! I will like to acknowledge the apparent botch that took place between the three men. You know which botch I am talking about! Now, I've seen many fans demean certain matches due to certain botches, yet no one seems to be acknowledging the botch that occurred, here. As I was watching it, I made it a point to state that the move was a difficult one to pull off between two bodies, let alone three belonging to three of the best professionals. Some moves are harder to pull then others. I'm not trying to make you think that this match was any less than it was. This was the best fight of the night, and one of the best triple threats from any promotion all year. But what I'd like to make note of is that even Ospreay's matches aren't bulletproof from dropping a botch or two."
[9.0] "MOTN mit unfassbarer Geschwindigkeit und Präzision. Man sollte lieber nicht blinzeln, da man sonst was verpassen könnte- Sehr starkes Match mit dem richtigen Sieger."
[6.0] "Massively indulgent at times, but I think this had enough good moments to merit praise. Takeshita held this match together, providing some of the better key spots, and helped the match avoid it being an gymnastic showcase that'll put me to sleep. Takeshita gave this match a grave thrust and a key focus that the other two can gravitate to. I trust Ospreay but not with Ricochet and that was proved right whenever they interacted. The ending was a little dramatic for my preference, especially when contrasted with the spot heavy spectacular that preceded it, but it's a finish that has further implications of all invovled. ***"
[8.0] "Takeshita was amazing in this match. Ricochet had his best AEW performance and Ospreay performed to the level we would expect from him. I need a little more grittiness and less shine in my wrestling though when it comes to high level match ratings but this was incredibly fun."
[10.0] "MOTY candidate, they used their in ring talent to put on a fantastic match and not just a spot and flips contest (even if I would have been ok withn that too). Some people will try to hate on that once again, but facts are real : this was PERFECTLY executed."
[10.0] "One of the most intricate, innovative, and action packed 3-way matches you'll ever see. Also a great example of interference being utilized with purpose to advance feuds and storylines based on previously established character dynamics."
[4.0] "Starting with the positives: I'm glad Takeshita finally got to win a title in AEW after all these stop/start pushes, even if he didn't get to win clean. There's a couple really cool moments in here like the Bastard Driver through the table but by and large this match was exactly what I expected it to be. I think these guys are really incredible athletes to pull this stuff off, but its just not a style of wrestling I love. People pre-emptively compared this to the classics AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe put on in TNA and this match feels like Ospreay, Ricochet, and Takeshita tried to recreate them without understanding what made those matches work. This match just doesn't have the level of thought put into how the sequences are going to be built up and executed, its just "here's a bunch of stuff we thought would look cool" with little regard to how any of these things would flow together. Takeshita's the only one trying to keep this semi-grounded. If this was just Ospreay and Ricochet being left to their own devices it would be much worse."
[8.0] ""That match was a different level of incredible the finish itself being Takeshita pinned Ospreay to win the title with help from Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher gave Ospreay the tiger driver after the match. Personally I know this is gonna reach everyone's top 10 matches lists of the year and I'm okay with that was it for me though? no. I like to think this is my type of wrestling however since I've gotten older I've realised it's not for me as much as it was a few years back and that's okay. Takeshita here tho man was so fucking good and is what makes this spot fest which the match is work extremely well and finally he's the champion Would have liked Ospreay to have had a longer reign once again but beggers can't be choosers"
[9.0] "This match made up for the underwhelming Ospreay vs Ricochet match on Dynamite. Ospreay has a deep rivalry with both of his opponents, but the big difference is that he has respect for Ricochet, and it showed when they would team up to beat on the man neither of them respect, Takeshita. The only negative about this match is the finish, while narratively, Fletcher turning on Ospreay makes sense, it's just such a waste to have him come to that decision off screen. He went from not wanting to attack Ospreay with the screwdriver on Dynamite to being completely onboard with the idea with seemingly no reason."
[7.0] "A really good match overall, but not without the signature Ospreay stink present in it. The action here as about what you'd expect from these three and it's pretty good for the most part, save for the occasional shit callback spot from Ospreay and Ricochet. Takeshita carries a lot of my enjoyment for this one, just throwing around Ospreay and Ricochet like they were nothing. Of course with Ospreay and Ricochet being as good of bumpers as they are, they make Takeshita's manhandling of them look absolutely killer. Ricochet in particular takes a brutal bump through a table when Takeshita hits him with a dudebuster off of the apron. For as good as this match is though, it's brought down a bit by the finish. Callis looks to hit Ospreay with the screwdriver but Fletcher runs down to make the save, but turns on Ospreay allowing Takeshita to get the win. Great result obviously but the finish was so needlessly overbooked and I just generally don't care about Fletcher going heel or anything Ospreay related in general. Match was still good, but the finish did take a bit away for me. ***3/4"
[8.0] "Unbreakable 2005 this isn't, but it was a super fun romp with a decent throughline of Takeshita being this malicious beast getting in the way of the honorable Ospreay vs Ricochet matchup. Each sequence looked great, though outside of the table red herring there really wasn't much of a structure until Will & Ricochet silently truce to start fighting Takeshita together (great moment). The actual table spot looked so nasty, Takeshita's power moves in general looked amazing when he got them off (his wheelbarrow german is so sick), but the finish kind of undercuts him a little since he still needed Callis & Fletcher to win when I think it makes the most sense to have Takeshita ultimately pin Ricochet for the title after Callis stops Will from pinning Ricochet or something. Still a great match that like many Ospreay matches seems to be getting MOTY flowers for reasons that escape me. ****"
[10.0] "This was as insane as I'm sure we all thought it would be. Just nonstop action as expected, lots of ridiculous spots with everyone looking strong here. The ending was a bit predictable as Takeshita getting the pin seemed the way to go, but count me in for another banger of a match between Ospreay/Fletcher. *****"
"I expected so much from this, and I think it delivered, but it was not a knock out of the park. At times, it felt rushed and a little chaotic. A great match, but not a match of the year contender. I could see the after match betrayal coming from a mile away, but there was no build up or hints dropped from a storyline perspective to explain it, which was disappointing. It just feels like Ospreay needs something new so he is being paired with Kyle while I assume Riccochet will work with Takeshita, which means the Riccochet vs. Ospreay rivalry will likely be put on hold until Mark Davis shows up and then maybe a tag team?"
[0.0] "This might be the worst Will Ospreay match I've ever seen. It's definitely the worst Will Ospreay match I've seen live in person (it's the third). Just everything I hate about modern wrestling is condensed into this one match, the no selling, the kick out at one after a big move, the striking was weak as babyshit, and the major spots were absolute nonsense. This was miserable and stark reminder to me that everyone else likes this malarkey. If I didn't care about the basic fundamentals of pro wrestling, I'd like this too. But I do care about these things. If you had a drinking game where I said "That's stupid" you would be dead, because this match is so damn stupid. And to finally reach peak stupidity, that finish. Oh my god that finish was the most sports entertainment b.s. ever. The "shocking" reveal of Kyle Fletcher screwing over his mentor and screwdriving him so Takeshita can finally get the championship he's deserved. Why? Why did Takeshita have to cheat. He beat Omega pretty much clean at All Out, Kenny beat Ospreay at WK clean, Ospreay had to cheat to beat Omega, surely that means logically Takeshita could've beaten Ospreay clean. But no, how dare we want the best for Takeshita. Also didn't help Takeshita was throwing some weak ass strikes here too. Everyone in this just looked awful. An absolutely miserable time. If you wanna watch something that doesn't insult your intelligence and is actually innovative, watch Beast Mortos vs. Hologram from this same show, that was 800 times better than this."
[10.0] "The ease with which Ospreay can come out with matches that, in most calendar years, be solid contenders for Match of the Year, simply must be studied. We know that Ospreay adores the famous Unbreakable 2005 triple threat of legend, and this match was his attempt to make it proud. Well, after what we saw last night, we can definitely say that his mission was successful, even if in the end I would've preferred Soup to win clean with a TD91 reversal like how Styles turned the Angel's Wings into a bridging pin. High adrenaline for the entire match, frees up Ospreay for the Continental Classic (and a possible match with Okada in Orlando), gives the Don Callis Family some purpose now, and finally gives Takeshita the flowers he deserves. There's not much more you could ask for."
[10.0] "Its fair to say this match had ungodly expectations and I have no desire to engage in best three way match of all time discourse. And while not everyone is enamored by the in-ring sensibilities of Ospreay and Ricochet (me occasionally), I cant deny the breathless action these two, and the star of the match, Konosuke Takeshita, were able to engage in. Even with a familiar, frustrating screwdriver finish that has become entirely too common place with Don Callis disciples, the bout with excellent with sequences that Ive never seen before. I understand this style isnt for everyone, but this one was for me. Excellent."
[8.0] "Quite good as expected, not great as it could have been with the talents involved. Too often it seemed they were wrestling to setup cool three-persons spots that they executed flawlessly, rather than buliding an organic dynamic between them. Beside this it was a thrilling spectacle, Takeshita was the standout, with more agression in spite of Ospreay and Ricochet often working together against him. The result was slightly unexpected but welcomed, the interference made sense but Takeshita deserved a clean finish."
[6.0] "A very solid match. I'm not a big fan of triple threats and the problems inherent to the match type were all here. The ultra-choregraphed and no-sell stuff from Will and especially Ricochet doesn't do much for me although it seemed most are still wowed by it. I for one am taken completely out of a match when guys spiek each other's head on the mat and pop up and stare at each other like nothing happened. Diff'rent strokes, I guess. That said, Takeshita is a truly special talent. Glad he got the win here. His offense looked absolutely legit (strikes look snug and hard hitting) and he did the heavy lifting to take this match above flippy mess to edge of your seat thriller by the end. He just has an it factor that befits a main event push that is hopefully coming soon."
[10.0] "This was absolutely insane. These three tried some really ambitious stuff and they knocked it out of the park. One of the finest three way matches of all time. I just loved the fact they broke the unwritten rule of three way matches that states "two guys in the ring and one of the oustide selling". All three men were in the same ring at the same time multiple times and I just can't praise them enough for that. My favorite spot was probably Takeshita's piledriver through the table but I also loved Ospreay landing on his feet following a clothesline and hitting an oscutter. Takeshita was the absolute MVP of the match. His strikes were vicious and in general he just proved to be an all-time talent. But both Ospreay and Ricochet delivered great performances as well. The storytelling was also good with Takeshita playing the spoiler ruining Ospreay and Ricochet's high flying exchanges and outworking them with his raw power. The ending of the match with Fletcher turning on Ospreay was predictable but I don't mind it. Loved Fletcher hitting the tiger driver '91 at the end. Takeshita getting his first singles title in AEW was such a well deserved moment. Can't wait to see what does holds for him as champion. Amazing, amazing match. Some of the wildest and craziest I've ever seen. 10/10 - 5*/5*"
[8.0] "Some pretty great action throughout, especially from Takeshita who played spoiler to Ospreay and Ricochet's lame superhero pose-off routine. Unfortunately the ending was like the hundredth faction/friend turn that was seen coming from a mile away and just took attention away from Takeshita finally getting a significant win."
[10.0] "This was unreal. I think triple threats have a lot higher margin of error. Most of them just end up being two guys in the ring while the other is outside selling so they are not often justified. They did some of that of course, but there were also some really ambitious spots featuring all three men that delivered. One of the best three way matches I can remember seeing in my few years of watching the product."
[10.0] "Simply incredible. I was gonna drop it a mark and give it 9 cos heels should not really outnumbered in a three way match. However, this was no ordinary three way - hardly any of that 'one man on the outside resting while the other two go at it for a while then swap'. The spots were amazing and some look simply out of this World and not humanly possible. We had drama at the end, a Fletcher heel turn and some screwy stuff. Keeps Ospreay Ricochet rematch for another day and Ospreay busy for a while taking on the Callis Family. Wow."
[9.0] "High paced thrill ride filled with literal twists and turns, with a welcomed surprise outcome as Konosuke Takeshita walks out champion. The three-way aspect was intelligently laid out, with all three guys looking like a million bucks. Takeshita especially was portrayed as the world-beater he should be considered. Ricochet looked more comfortable and in synch with the matchs structure compared to his matches so far with Mortos, Guevara, and Ospreay, all of which were great, be he looked especially on form and crisp, selling his absolute ass off for everything. Ospreay delivered a typically impressive performance, with the matchs crescendo being built upon his history with the Don Callis Family and relationship with not only both Takeshita and Ricochet, but also Kyle Fletcher, who looked phenomenal in his heel turn. Such an athletically impressive match, with just the right amount of storyline drama to allow it to feel unique and important. (****1/2)"
[9.0] "A great match, with a ceiling capped at a 9 due to one man: Don Callis. You can say it's the story, and sure, Fletcher turning on Ospreay was crazy, but all of that could have been done with a manager that doesn't have serious behind-the-scenes issues that have been ignored by management for far, far too long, and all of that could have been done independent of the match. Takeshita winning clean would have elevated him far more, now it's an afterthought. It's frustrating too, because a lot of people were predicting this would be the modern Unbreakable 2005, and it almost could've been if you erased Callis entirely. The meat of the match was great, even as someone not as high on Ospreay as others. Had it ended completely clean I'd understand all these 10s."
[10.0] "This was my Match of the Night what an amazing match. This joins the legendary AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe Triple Threat from TNA in 2005 as one of the best Triple Threat Matches of all time. Will Ospreay was doing stuff that just keeps me being wow'd because he just knows how to pull out new tricks each and every time. Ricochet still got it he looked very good in this match he still can go with the best of em' and at a fast pace which I'm very happy about. Konosuke Takeshita had so many OMG moments in this match especially the table spot involving Ricochet. But we saw a swerve where Kyle Fletcher turned on his best friend Will Ospreay and blast him with a screw driver to help Konosuke Takeshita to get his 1st Singles Championship in AEW as he's the new AEW International Champion. Amazing Match, and a Match of the Year Candidate in my eyes."
[9.0] "This shot was long overdue and they finally did it. Takeshita is finally with gold in AEW and in an amazing match. For the entirety of the bout Takeshita was presented on another level. Will is considered one the best in the ring (in kayfabe, but overall too) and Rico is a fresh addition to the roster and rivaled Ospreay in the ring, but Takeshita nonetheless destroyed them both even when he was fighting basically one vs two. It's that power-scale that makes wrestlers to be not just another guy, but THE guy. It was done perfectly here and with addition with jaw-dropping in ring action, where they were so many spots from all three of the guys that you couldn't really believe that can actually pull off. Sure, maybe it was a little too choreographed, but it doesn't take away from the fact how much skills all them need to have to pull something like this off. It was amazing and probably of the best Triple Threats I ever seen. Great story, great action."
[10.0] "This was outstanding. The sequence between Will Ospreay and Takeshita where Ospreay flips from the clothesline then turns it into an Oscutter from the rope, that was phenomenal. Then Takeshita kicks out even though he wasn't being pinned, it was an instant classic. Takeshita wins he deserves the victory. I remember when he debuted in AEW it was immediately obvious he has much higher than average skill level than other wrestlers it is good to see him get the recognition he deserves. I see the criticism for the Don Callis run in, but the difference in that and it instead being a post match event I think is minimal, it doesn't detract at all from the match. All around very well done"
[7.0] "I thought this was solid overall but man I cant wait for the woo gymnastics I can do the same thing as you woo superhero landing! era of wrestling to end, along with the no selling. The no sells lose so much value when used as frequently as they are. I thought Danielsons in the main event was great. But the no selling here was outrageous, especially during the poisonrana sequence. Takeshita however was fantastic throughout this match and Im glad they finally put a belt on him"
[7.0] "People will shout and scream that this was a spot fest because lots of modern fans do not understand story telling via wrestling. This was not something I loved but was coherent and made sense within each character. Finish was whatever but lord does the Callis Family need help so lets see what they do with it."
[7.0] "This was a great match full of great spots, sequences and not without storytelling, they tried to tell something interesting with Takeshita being an opportunist but not only that, there was a story between Takeshita and Ospreay with the fact that the Don Callis family turned their back on the aerial assassin. Ricochet did his things well, he has a lot of story with Ospreay and the fact he started an alliance with him to take down Takeshita was well done. There were things that brought my rating slightly down obviously with the kick out at one of Takeshita on the hidden blade, for me this was useless, i am not bothered every time I see someone kicking out at one, it depends of the context but for me this brought nothing to the fight. The ending was really interesting and i am also happy for Takeshita, this man is absolutely tremendous. ***3/4"
[9.0] "I think everyone already expected that this would be the match of the night, and look, it really was, there are no more words to describe Ospreay and Takeshita, these two are from another world and the addition of Ricochet to the mix makes everything more dynamic and even though there was interference and turn from Fletcher during the match, it doesn't erase the great action and especially Takeshita's victory who was the best during the length of the match (****3/4)"
[10.0] "[5 Stars] 5 STARS ALERT ! It was INCREDIBLE the dynamic of the match was completely crazy, the 3 gave everything they had in their performances to give us this banger! Crazy spots and a shocking ending thank you gentlemen. Please go and see this match for yourself. [*****]"
[6.0] "I am not very much into any of these wrestlers & or this kind of a match, but it definitely was a good spotfest. Everybody had big, fun moments with Takeshita looking like a beast throughout. Some silly Ospreay moments with his facial expressions & a boring finish, but other than that, this was pretty enjoyable."
[8.0] "Will Ospreay is the best in the business, period. Takeshita isn't far behind. And while I think Ricochet is a few tiers below at this point in his career, he's still capable of great matches and should be revived now that he's with AEW. For what this match was, it was excellent. The storytelling, pacing, and high spots were all elite and what you would hope to see in a match with this trio. But I can't go higher than an 8 out of 10 for several reasons. One, trios matches stink relative to one on one. It's never made sense that you could have the champion lose their belt without getting pinned or submitting. But to AEW's credit, at least they didn't do that here, Takeshita beat Ospreay. Two, the interference. Fletcher turning was so predictable, and that means Ospreay is going to be removed from the title picture for awhile to handle his business with Fletcher. While those two will have incredible matches, Ospreay should be at the top of the AEW card right now with the big strap, not in a mid-card grudge feud."
"Personally though this match was great and likely the best match Ospreay had this year. While it was Ospreay's best match the true standout was Takeshita. I loved Takeshita's role of playing the foil to the other two wrestlers most overindulgent aspects of their matches, setting the tone within the first minute by breaking up the superhero spot after the numerous counters between Riccochet and Ospreay. Takeshita is a pure power wrestler and truly shined in this role. Takeshita's talent is undeniable and will be on of the best in the world for the foreseeable future."
[8.0] "Let me start by saying that I think the finish was the best part of the match. It's a bit baffling to me that people are bringing the score of this match down because it ended with interference. When it makes sense and drives the story forward there's nothing wrong with it. To me wrestling always was and always will be about the stories... so saying "the stunts were awesome but the finish was bad" means to me that you prefer choregraphed entertainment to building to something grander. Of course there's nothing wrong about it but I think there's a reason why people prefer current day WWE. This match or this type of entertainment in my opinion will never get close to a spectacle that was Punk vs McIntyre III or Rhodes-Reigns II because it lacks drama. If you're watching wrestling just for the moves then fine, but when it builds to nothing it can't get to that next level and at the same time is more taxing on your body(cause basically you are doing more for less). This match was a PWG style encounter. If you turn off your brain and watch, it's entertaining but on this level I'm kind of triggered by the cases of no-selling and choreography we saw in this match. It's also annoying cause I know these people are capable of much more... especially Ospreay who has shown he's able to hang with the best of them. This spotfest was beneath him... sorry."
[8.0] "Very choreographed yet it seemed to me that everything they planned to do, they did right. Ospreay doesn't sell part 1000, but at least Takeshita and Ricochet performances were the closest to perfection here"
"[9.0] Great match, crazy spots with takeshita being the standout. Even the Don Callis melodrama was great, and it was funny how the crowd was cheering everything takeshita was doing despite being the heel."
! Nach den ersten Minuten, in denen viel Choreografiert war, begann dann der Kampf so richtig, hauptsächlich mit den Strikes von Takeshita. Da haben meine Ohren geschlackert! Ich hatte mehrfach pure Gänsehaut. Neben den heftigsten Moves und der gemeinsamen Arbeit aller drei UND dem krassen working um den Tisch als Gimmick kam zum Ende die Spannung und das Finale mit Sports Entertainment. Königsklasse und MOTY Contender"
[8.0] "Good story was told here with Takeshita being not inpressed with Ricochet and Will flippy stuff. A lot of cool spots but the ending was kinda meh"
[9.0] "Crowd have been a little funny this whole show and I think this match was anchored by that. Practically silent unless there were big spots or exciting moments. Granted I also felt there were a handful of moments in this match where there were slow set ups to big moments and it created a very up and down atmosphere in the crowd. Still, for the most part this was a banger. Loved the ending with Fletcher. Wasn't expecting that at all. Great way to have Takeshita get the win without Ospreay looking weak."
[7.0] "Call me old-fashioned, but I much prefer a bout where the crowd stays hot and invested rather than one where the fans keep going silent waiting for the next spectacular flurry at which to go batshit. And yes, this was full of jaw-dropping sequences, ranging from the flat out superb to the excessive no-sell bullshit, but most of it was meaningless fluff - especially given the basic, screwy finish ***1/2"
[10.0] "It's a toss-up whether I prefer this or Styles vs Daniels vs Joe as the greatest three-way match in history. The unbelievable innovation and creativity was beyond incredible here, and only the cheating finish kept it from being a top-tier match of the year candidate. Even then, the finish made sense and was really good in its own right. No other wrestler in the world right now is as explosive with his timing as Takeshita, except for maybe Ospreay. It's insane that Ricochet can still do all the crazy things he was doing a decade ago. *****"
[10.0] "I have read a lot about why some people don't like the style of Ospreay/Ricochet, some artistic arguments, some metrics arguments and it's mainly people who say that it's too "choreographed" and while some do have vaild points, what they fail to see is that this style is the most over style of wrestling in the building. The energy these men bring out of the crowd by going full throttle speed and coming up with creative stuff everytime is unmatchable. Match starts with high energy and pace but keeps goin up and up and up and up without overstaying its welcome. You can hate the style but you can't say it doesn't work because wrestling is about emotion and they bring it out of the people in spades. This match however had the added benefit of the best Japanese wrestler in the world today: Konosuke Takeshita. If you like your wrestling hard-hitting and flips free, Takeshita killed these men over and over again in incredible fashion and that was the story of the match. Ospreay and Ricochet are amazing atheletes but Takeshita is superior. Normally the finish with Don Callis would irk me but it works here and frankly if you're pushing Takeshita as a heel then you kinda needed it."
"[9.0] This match was amazing. These three meshed well, as you should've expected based on Takeshita & Ricochet's singles chemistry with Ospreay. Only thing that I think could've went differently was Takeshita getting the win clean. Loved the angle & heel turn of Kyle Fletcher... but man, Takeshita would've benefited much more from conquering Ospreay singlehandedly. That stack pin spot also would've been a sick flash finish. Nonetheless, amazing triple threat and MOTN for WrestleDream."
[8.0] "[3.75*] Incredible match! I do not think it came nowhere near the level of the Ospreay vs Take singles match at Revolution, but it was a pretty great three way. Until a specific point their chemistry was just on point and all the choreographed spots were executed pretty beautifully, but then they kinda lost it a little bit at the ending with the botch and some times where a guy would just stand there for a lot of time waiting for the spot, like when Take laid down on the table and started fixing his elbow pad lmao. I actually think the ending was great storytelling as they were building up to this turn for quite some time. I do not want to see more screwdrivers every single week tho lol."
[8.0] "This match was fun as hell, it had many flaws, but it was fun as hell, a complete hot mess, and I obviously will not give a super high rating, but I had a great time, weather popping for a good executed move, laughing about some nonsensical anime crazy shit, or cringing about a bad executed move or dumb spot, this made me feel a lot things, diverse things, it was almost too much to handle. Ospreay and Ricochet began with the traditional sequence, which I'm not the biggest fan in the world of, but it made the crowd sing 'AEW' 'AEW'. The beginning of the match was excellent, they were executing everything incredibly well, it was truly impressive, a high-quality spotfest, but later on the match it became super overbooked and consequently the quality dropped a little bit, but it still had a lot of moments. The table-breaking spot was nuts, looked clean as hell, that was incredible, and there were many other spots as well, with a really fast pace. The ending angle was pretty good, and finally established Ospreay as a solo babyface, in contrast to the bastards of the Don Callis Family, that now has the company of Kyle Fletcher, that gladly turned on Will. The match started as a super clean and impressive spotfest, but ended as a total mess, in a good way, remembered me of some WWE-style closers, where the whole thing becomes a salad, but the feeling is of joy - {***3/4}"
"(10) Probably the best Ricochet has ever been. Reminded me of the crazy triple threats TNA did with the X Division in mid 2000's. Insane stuff. Absolutely the right person to win and take the pin. Alpha on top."
[10.0] "holy shit this is pure in ring gold. And surprisingly the ending of this match gave us STORY. I can cry because AEW actually gave a damn to give us some story inside of a match and didnt just care about the in ring match. This is incredible tho pure perfection. I personally wanted to see osperay and ricochet vs takeshita and fletcher leading to a ricochet heel turn and joining the don callis family but i am over the moon happy that takeshita has finally won a championship in AEW which is damn near two years over do. I mean where do i even start about this match. I honestly love the most about this match is that it isnt like normal 3 way matches where 90 percent of the time it is just a one on one match with the third man on the outside of the ring catching wind. Pretty much this entire match we were seeing transitions and spots that involved all three guys at one time which was so awesome to see. Also there is just a feel to this match where all three guys added something to it. Takeshita was beating the shit out of the other two guys with some of the hardest stiffest shots ive ever seen. Osperay was flying around and dont get me wrong so was ricochet but for the first time in a while that atleast i can remember ricochet did stuff other then just high flying he was actually doing wrestling moves and meaningful stuff. The finish was awesome the way they had fletcher turn on osperay and i hope we get just a straight up 1 on 1 feud with kyle fletcher and will osperay. 5.25 stars"
[10.0] "The best Triple Threat match in a long time, both in terms of the story and the content of the game itself, is perfect. There are a lot of explosions in the game, such as the bastard driver through the table on ricochet, another super satisfying table break courtesy of Konosuke Takeshita, a series of combo skills of 3 people on the side rope(tower clothesline, poisonranas after poisonranas , double german suplexes) and so on.Quasi-5-star level competitions that everyone can't miss! Looking forward to the follow-up plot of Ospreay"
