[7.0] "I enjoyed this match quite a bit. Severn seemed to be well prepared for Tamura, and kept pace with him for a good 12 minutes+ before slowing down a bit, which is understandable considering how much both Tamura and Severn put into this match. Severn's strength and power are the main factors in this match, and he uses his throwing and suplex ability to keep Tamura overwhelmed and prevent him from getting anything going on the mat. Tamura does get some tricky submission attempts in, but Severn is a tough nut to track and he eventually gets Tamura right where he wants him. This was an entertaining match if you ask me and another example of why Tamura was good. ****1/4"
[6.0] "First of all, this match is absolutely insane on paper. Dan Severn vs Kiyoshi Tamura is the crazy sort of dream match that could only be just that but somehow it happened three times in UWF-I and a couple more in tags. Couldn't find their first online anywhere so this is their second and surprisingly goes very long. Their first two singles are both listed as the exact same amount of time which is either a crazy coincidence or a cagematch error. Severn had been beating people fairly decisively so far so Tamura going 20+ with him feels like a big deal. It's all about Severn smothering Tamura and the young kid really can't get anything going for a good while but he's just evasive enough to stop Severn locking in something to win. A fair few times Severn can't get what he wants on the ground so just gives up and lets Tamura stand just so he can pick him up and slam or throw him around. Tamura doesn't do much fancy stuff for the first 10 or so but gets going with some great counters and rollthroughs into either arm or leg submissions and even manages a few takedowns and slams of his own. Gives the impression that the longer the match goes on the better chance Tamura has at scoring an upset but for the most part it's a pretty forgone conclusion. Not the best this could be but for 21 minutes of essentially a major star vs a breaking out rookie, it's pretty good."
