113.05.2025PapaGus1.0Such an insult to the fans. After rewatching it, it's worse than I remembered. Apuestas matches are part of the heart of Lucha Libre, and Mask vs. Mask stipulations have a particularly important status because they end up becoming the first time that one of the wrestlers involved show their face in front of a large crowd. Because of that, the post-match is a very emotional moment for the loser, who's USUALLY allowed to have some time with their family, friends and companions, while the crowd celebrate and show some support to them. The fact that none of that was allowed for Euforia this time, since everything was being rushed for the main event to start...damn. The cultural beauty of Mexican Lucha Libre was put aside and, what did we get after that? An utterly boring match with Mistico being way past his prime and unable to craft great singles matches by himself anymore, and, the worse part, a washed-up Jericho that clearly wasn't even trying to deliver anything slightly decent and was probably there just for the money (cuz I don't believe he went to CMLL just to remember the good old times). Awful and unfortunate main event.

422.02.2025mateofuerte4.0This wasn't really bad or anything, just really boring and slow. It seemed like an old school match where you try to do as little as possible to get the reactions you want, but it failed at that. The match wasn't suited to any of Mistico's strengths and was a real disappointment that failed to live up to expectations.

805.01.2025TPG3.0A real letdown of a main event on an otherwise pretty good show. Jericho's obviously trying his best, but he's still going too slow for the high-flying lucha libre action I've come to expect from a company as stellar as CMLL. But at the end of the day, it's just a bad match. Nothing terrible like everyone's saying, but nothing good either.
904.01.2025The Aditza7.0I don't think it was as bad as some want to make it look. Yes, it was slow and it had some botches but Jericho is almost 54 and I think he tried his best. Maybe a match against a slower opponent like Ultimo Guerrero would have worked better but still it wasn't that bad. The fact that it followed such an awesome match as the cuadrangular of mascaras didn't help either. It's a 7/10 for me even though I should rate it higher just to balance the ridiculous ratings.

1105.12.2024EternalEpure1.0I have a lot of feelings about this. I want to start by saying CMLL obviously ok'd this, idk who's idea this all was but it it was ok'd by CMLL and that bugs the hell of out me. This match was not good. I'm not the biggest Mistico fan in the world but I watch CMLL weekly and I know what he delivers weekly, and none of this match was his fault. He couldn't save this at all. Chris Jericho should not have been on this show at all let alone the main event. Awful performance, couldn't even do the La Mistica bump correctly TWICE. After all the amazing stuff I got to see on this show, capping it off with a uninspired dreadful Chris Jericho performance was such a kick in the balls man. This match being after the match of the year made it even worse. It's perhaps better in a vacuum but as a CMLL weekly viewer this match being the main event of their biggest show is a spit in the face of the fans. Even if you're going to run this match, make it the semi main. I've liked the majority of the CMLL AEW partnership even though I am generally weary of partnerships like it but this is too far and has soured me on almost all AEW involvement going forward. The post match angle was even dumber and I genuinely couldn't believe they would end CMLL's biggest show of the year with an AEW mid card feud angle that felt nothing like the lucha libre event i wanted to watch. The crowd was literally chanting for Hechicero during this match cause they couldn't care about this. And I don't blame them, I didn't care either. This was awful. Never allow this to happen again CMLL. Protect your guys, protect your shows, protect your spots.

1428.11.2024Willie 192002.0This match was so bad it was funny, Jericho was so lazy with his strikes and I have no clue what was going on with Mistico because he's always putting on great matches, but oh my Lord this match sucked. Some of the Mistico spots were good, however Jericho just felt old and lazy. The random ad near the middle of the first fall was weird but funny. it was much longer than i expected but overall it didn't pay off. Complete joke of a match.

2021.10.2024OneArmedScissor1.0Unfortunate match because I thought Jericho would've done well doing a lucha brawler style and I figured he'd be super over in Mexico but this just didn't work out at all and the crowd decidedly did not care about this nearly as much as I thought they would.

2727.09.2024Penta Suzuki4.0Jericho seems to have become a figure of hate over the last year or so, and I can't help but think that that, combined with this match main eventing over the Apuestas match, is affecting the ratings. Should it have main evented to begin with? No. Did it become a main event worthy match? No. But I didn't think it was bad by any means and it certainly wasn't worse then the women's title match. For the most part they worked fine together and there were a couple of good spots. Unfortunately, the only time the match veered into the truly bad territory was the last couple of minutes with two truly abysmal looking La Misticas where Jericho in particular looked like he was underwater. The biggest problem really was the length as Jericho was clearly gassed by the end. If they'd have worked a one fall 12-15 minute match it would have been a lot better. Overall I'm somewhere between a 4.0 and a 5.0 but the finish was really bad. **1/4
2827.09.2024WAKA Flockanoku2.0This match was very disappointing for the main event. I was expecting a let down compared to the semi-main, but this was an outright stinker. That being said, the in-ring action wasn't horrible. Don't get me wrong, it was bad and felt like an homage to Mistico's horrible Sin Cara days (fitting he's in the ring with a former WWE superstar from that era), but the in ring work wasn't the main bit that dragged this down for me. What really killed this for me was the fact that this match felt like a story-beat in an AEW C storyline. From my understanding, this is one of CMLL's biggest shows and the main event is AEW Jericho vortex crap. What a lame way to end it.

3121.09.2024TallNick21.0This was painful to watch, quite honestly a future torture method for WW3 because I have never wished for anything to end like this. Just slow, plodding wrestling from Jericho that couldn't be carried by Mistico. I just feel bad for the guys in the 4 way before because not only was it good in ring but there was a story behind it that meant it should've main evented.

3420.09.2024DanielBrain3.0out of the gate no one sang Judas. Which is english, but it shows the house wasnt really boosted by hardcore AEW fans, but moreso CMLL fans and people who remember Jericho as a name. Thats important because it shows how tone deaf the post match angle was. Empty seats by the 3rd fall. Super slow, not a ton of action or passion. Real sloppy last 5 minutes. No heat from the crowd. Flat finish with an ugly La Mistica. Crowd chanted for Hechicero at one point. Flat post match angle with no one caring about the AEW mid card. Bad match that no one cared about. Any talk of "Jericho is a big deal" can be put to rest. The would have sold out with or without Jericho. They certainly could have booked this better, but the crowd heat was never there to begin with.

4018.09.2024BQReviews0.0Absolute dog crap. Mistico is in the running for best in the world currently and Jericho made him look worse than he was in the Sin Cara days. Jericho has absolutely destroyed his legacy by overstaying his welcome by quite some time now. Nothing in wrestling would be different if he never stepped foot in a ring again after 2008. Trash.

4416.09.2024RandyDaddy1.0Fans have been asking Jericho to retire or go away for few months now. But he is being so stubborn. He has now politicked his way into the main event of CMLL anniversario. This match was awful. Who decided to book a geriatric Jericho vs 40 year old Mistico in a 2 out of 3 pinfalls match. This was slow, sloppy, clunky and without any chemistry between two opponents. Mistico was at least trying but Jericho was godawful. Easily one of the worst performances as well as worst match of Jericho's career. The La Mistica applied to Jericho was so bad and mainly because of Jericho. He was fighting in slow motion this whole time. And Schiavone later announced on Collision that Jericho won the match. This just top class burial.

5016.09.2024FelipeTalksGraps0.0[DUD] Is there anything of value you can take from this match? I am sorry, but this was a disgrace. Ever since I was a kid, my grandmother always told me to not say this word, but I am sorry grandma, there are no other words to describe this shit. It was a straight-up disgrace to lucha libre. I mean, the action was probably deserving of 1 star or something like that, but how could you evaluate this bout like if it was just another normal match on the card? Man, Euforia literally just lost his Mask in a MOTYC. People gave the 4-Way a standing ovation. They were fucking crying at the speech. This was literally the best ending possible to an Aniversario show and should have been the Main Event. It represented everything that CMLL has to offer, it was the representation of the spirit of a Lucha de Apuestas, the biggest honor in a luchadors life. How the actual fuck you ruin all of that with 20-min of Chris Jericho stinking it up? Guys, Mistico was DISGUSTED. If you look closely after the match ended, he looked into Jerichos eyes and his expression was of pure disgust, disbelief. He apologized to the crowd. Everyone was booing, not a single applause after this was over. They managed to make a party turn into a funeral, bro. And I think it is really symbolic because it was really the funeral of Corazon De Leons career. He is fucking done, he is washed. He is one of the worst wrestlers on the planet at this point. They actually had the balls to run a Big Bill post-match attack with Orange Cassidy making the save (for a LOT of boos). Did not they announce Jericho vs Cassidy for Dynamite? They really ended their 91th Anniversary show with a midcard angle for AEW? I can not believe my eyes. Sorry, Grandma. This is disgraceful.

5615.09.2024Nohamolait2.0It really hurts seeing Jericho in this state, he really needs to take a long break. I'm not really a big Mexican Luchador watcher, I'm trying to get more into it so I don't know if the crowd are usually like that but at first they cheered for Chris then a few minutes didn't seem to care about the match at all. The first was the only fine moment about the match and after the 2nd fall ended, Mistico looked legit disappointed. To be fair that second fall was REALLY rough, same for the third although the Walls Of Jericho escape followed by the Codebreaker out of nowhere was cool and the only enjoyable moment of the match post the early exchanges. 5815.09.2024thedman03102.0Man, I was really hoping that Jericho would have a good match here. Not just for the sake of his own career, but for his legacy in Mexico. But alas, he wasn't able to get anything good. This is especially harmful for Mistico, who is on a bit of a downswing as of late. Jericho slowly turning around in the La Mistica on two separate occasions was just embarrassing. Like many others have said, the four-way mask match should've ended the show.

6215.09.2024joaosousa208.0I liked the match. Yes, for the 91º Anniversary of the one of the most important, influential ProWrestling promotions in the history we except a little more or maybe another type of stipulation. But the match was very good and this is nothing more than the hate for Jericho's work that IWC thinks is cool.

6415.09.2024Jmoney376.0Solid match. Jericho showed his age for sure but no spots were blown. Mistico did his best to carry things and the crowd was hot. Could've been a lot worse. I wouldn't have put it on after the emotional mask match. I'm sure the crowd was drained somewhat.
6515.09.2024OKZ Will5.0A fairly bland, forgettable match, but a very good example of what happens when wrestlers fight against the crowd. From the opening bell it was obvious that the crowd was going to cheer Jericho and boo Mistico. If they had wrestled to that, maybe they could have gotten something interesting, but there was no way Mistico was going to work heel. So, instead we get Jericho desperately trying every heel tactic in the world to get heat and none of it worked. Without the crowd behind him, Mistico's flaws really stood out. A dull end to a very good show.

7015.09.2024joethom2.0A brutally slow match, I was mystified this was a two out of three falls match. For Jerichos speed it should have been a more compact match. Unsatisfying as a main event and watching this after the mask match that proceeded it made this matchs many flaws all the more apparent.

7414.09.2024EvanCallaway6.0I am indeed surprised at how low this match is rated. Honestly, I don't think that this is any worse than most wrestling we see these days. It might be because I haven't watched much of CMLL recently and the level of the match might be really low when compared to its standard. Still, it didn't offend me. I just thought it was an uninspired performance, that's all.

8014.09.2024Zabuza0.0I think Chris Jericho is one of the greatest of all time, but he is actually eroding his legacy with shameful performance after shameful performance, disaster promo after disaster promo. He at the very minimum needs a long break from professional wrestling, I'm talking like 6 months. But everyone is too scared to tell him the reality of his work in 2024. sad.
8114.09.2024benny5bellys3.0It is impressive that literally everything Jericho touches turns to shit. Imagine being so bad that Arena Mexico shit on a Mistico match, you have to salute his skills for that. Jericho is cooked, everyone knows he has been cooked for at least two years but here we are sitting through his utter shite. I have never been a Mistico guy but even I felt bad for him in this.

8714.09.2024daveportivo5.0The main event was completely fine in the first fall, your standard Mistico main event, he hit all his spots and looked good, while Chris Jericho did a fine job of pratfalling around for him. The only trouble with the first fall was two fold 1) it didn't have anywhere near the heat of the match before and 2) Jericho was over huge as a face and that completely messed up the heel/face dynamic and story of the match. Still even accounting for a few awkward and glaring communication errors, it was a good first fall, but my God the second fall was bad. Uninspired heat, botched butterfly backbreaker, Jericho completely unable to take La Mistica, leading to an awful finishing sequence. There was a very good code breaker counter in there, but yeah this fell apart. I think I still go 5 as I don't think the whole match was a disaster.
8814.09.2024genericusername2.0An awful match made even worse by its placement on the card, following one of the best and most emotional matches of the last few years. This wouldve been a slightly better match had it not main evented, but it was still awful. These two were not good partners and Jericho looked completely washed. I really enjoyed his run with the ROH title a few years ago and its kind of wild to see how far hes fallen since then.

9114.09.2024GoldLiger2.0There's a point where relationships between companies can cross a line and this match is the exact point the AEW/CMLL line was crossed. Jericho main eventing an Anniversario against Mistico with nothing on the line over an excellent Apuestas match, two years removed from the last time he could work a good match, unable to properly take a fucking LA MISTICA from MISTICO. The crowd didn't care, Jericho either didn't care or was even more cooked than usual, Mistico looked mortified during and apologetic after, and this was to further AEW reigniting a 4-year-old Jericho/OC feud to fill out their midcard. I don't think this was as embarrassing as Jericho/Cole but it was pretty fucking close. The ONLY positive of this whole match is that Big Bill got to be in Arena Mexico. *
9214.09.2024Advocate of Inokism4.0This match wasn't good. I don't think it was terrible but it suffered more by going on last. I had hoped Jericho would be able to roll back the years but alas he wasn't able to deliver. Also why was the crowd booing Mistico? I was so confused.
9314.09.2024Tawren4.0I feel bad even giving this review, I like Jericho and I have enjoyed his renaissance since the Omega match. I think he still has a mind for the business even if I also don't like the current gimmick. But it's not working any more and Jericho is really struggling out there. The crowd turning on Mistico made this even more of a challenge and neither adapted well. Jericho might have another run in him, maybe not, but he needs a good long break to rest his body and reset his gimmick and audience interaction.
