[7.0] "Richard X vs Suicide Kid was a good mix of both guys usual athletic offence with some hardcore. Crazy Michinoku driver off the ladder. Uncle Honkey vs Mark Wolf was fine. Some good barbedwire board bumps. I would have liked to have seen Uncle Honkey do more big man stuff, but I still enjoyed seeing him crashing through barbedwire boards. Rollin Hard vs Deranged was alright. Some nice spots and big man offence, but all that stays with me is Deranged spewing, and the slow mo replay that Smarkmark video left going for far too long. Both guys got good colour and Deranged's works his gimmick really well. Enjoyable match overall. Chris Hero vs Corporal Robinson was ok. It was mainly Hero slamming Corporal into the tacks a bunch. Hero pushing tacs into Corps head was gross. Corps head was clearly nowhere near the chair on the tombstone, but I liked how Axl Rotten saved it on commentary. Hero's Styles Clash in the tacks popped me. Great seeing Bull Pain back in IWA. Really hard hitting match. Gross char shots, brutal barbedwire bat shots, a Suplex on the concrete, and great big power moves. Shame Hido's arm got fucked up but fair play to him for finishing the match and with a crazy lariat! Probably my favourite match on the show. Axl Rotten vs Shank Dorsey was a borderline squash. Axl just seemed to be messing around. He got really good colour though, and was super over. Mitch Page vs Paul E Smooth was fine. Nothing too crazy, but I liked how they worked the salt into the match. Mitch won with a huge last ride style powerbomb. Toby Klein vs 2 Tuff Tony was great. Good spots, good violence and good colour. Tony leg dropping Toby's face into the tacks was gross. Some good spots into the pits of pain. The powerbomb onto the thumbtack pit on the floor was nasty. It's criminal that Toby wasn't bought back as a regular around this era. Great corkscrew splash with tubes for the finish. Kickboxer vs Necro was good. Really hard strikes at the start. Necro clotheslined Kickboxer into the ropes and his head ricocheted back off them. Looked nasty. Kickboxers corkscrew Asai Moonsaults always great. I liked the powerbomb counter into the facebuster into the tubes. Nice big 2nd rope powerbomb through a barbedwire board for the finish. I would have liked to have seen Kickboxer sell more after being beaten up by Hero earlier on in the show. Commentary said Kickboxers back was injured but surely it should have been his neck after taking a piledriver onto a chair on the ground from Hero. Ian vs Peter B was just a squash match. To be fair to him, Peter B Beautiful was selling at times. Ian was unnecessarily and ridiculously stiff. Not good. I was really underwhelmed by Cash Flo vs Nick Mondo. They didn't work well together, and the match was just sloppy and an underwhelming main event for night 1. Some of the weapon swinging and brawling was entertaining. The big sitout suplex facebuster off the 2nd through the tubes was great. Cash Flo's back got crazy colour. The finish was also pretty lackluster. Overall, a solid first round of the tournament. Every match, for the most part felt different. Not every match needed glass flying everywhere."

[6.0] "A solid opening night and much better than the previous tournaments at this point. Peter B. Beautiful gets absolutely destroyed!"

[7.0] "1. The Suicide Kid/Richard X: ** ¾ (Big spots done pretty well) 2. Mark Wolf/Uncle Honkey: * ½ (Acceptable enough considering who is involved) 3. Rollin’ Hard/Deranged: N/R (One of the most must-see matches in IWA-MS history.... for all of the wrong reasons. The match is going surprisingly well when... well... something happens that leads to chants of both “YOU THREW UP” during the match and “HE STILL PUKED” after the match. It also features the first time I've seen a slow-motion replay of someone vomiting into a puddle of their own blood. All in all much more of a visual spectacle than a rate-able wrestling match. ) 4. Trent Baker/Tower Of Doom: *** (Bunch of basics done really well. Smoothest and most sensible match of the first night) 5. Corporal Robinson/Chris Hero: ** ½ (Tries to be something this tournament has no place for, but still has good stuff) 6. Hido/Bull Pain: ** ¾ (Sick injury for Hido) 7. Axl Rotten/Shank Dorsey: ½ * (Almost totally garbage) 8. Mitch Page/Paul E. Smooth: * ½ (Entertaining) 9. 2 Tuff Tony/Toby Klein: ** ½ (Kind of disappointing) 10. Necro Butcher/American Kickboxer: ** ½ (Very intense angle with AKB and Chris Hero before this match. Hero costs AKB the match, leading to an AMAZING AKB promo after this match) 11. Ian Rotten/Peter B. Beautiful: “That’s the shit that killed Elvis right there, I don’t give a fuck what anybody says” – Axl Rotten, on commentary during this match 12. Nick Mondo/Cash Flo: ** ½ (Two guys who had clearly never wrestled each-other trying to do too complicated shit too quickly to be done 100% correctly) Overall a pretty good show."
