[6.0] "A solid show. WCW's keys to the Egg dome, there were few good matches, the IWGP tag titles, Sting vs Muta, Tiger Jeet singh vs choshu, the winner takes all. But this event still has many issues. 1) cutting out time:- there were loads of match that were too short and would have been good if it was long, like the horsemen vs chono-saito, IWGP tag titles match, Sting vs Muta. 2)the main event was a complete booking disaster that still confuses many people today, WCW chose suspense and cliffhanger over basic clarity and the match suffered. 3) not having Inoki compete, Inoki had a promo thanking the crowd for coming, thanking WCW to agree to do this show and etc, and then we had rookies attacking inoki for some reason and Inoki coming on top unsurprisingly. But the show would have work especially in Tokyo if Inoki had a match even if it's a squash match or a bloody affair. 4) ptaue delay and lack of availablity or in simple words, making this a clash of champions shows instead of a PPV. The few statements i agree with Dave meltzer is that this show would have benefitted more if it was a clash of champions shows, as the PPV version was already cut down all, the opening match, the Vader/Bigelow vs doom match, the G18 title match, the IWGP junior tothe were already cut down, reducing it to 2 hours. It would have worked way better as a clash of champions show with the same length. Overall a good show with loads of mistakes"

[6.0] "Good show with some flaws, but nothing special. Two excellent Tag matches (Hase & Sasaki vs Steiners and Vader & Bigelow vs Doom), a decent Jr. Heavyweight match, good Sting vs Muta match and OK main event. 6/10"

[5.0] "There are some matches on this card that range from good to very good. The IWGP tag title match between the Steiners and Hase & Sasuki, Sting against Muta, Liger's title defence against AKIRA and the main event of Ric Flair versus Tatsumi Fujinami. But there are also some serious stinkers. Especially Choshu vs. Tiger Jeet Singh, it's one of the worst matches I've ever seen. Vader & Bam Bam vs. Doom sounds great on paper but it just didn't deliver and was a mess. Everything else was forgettable or plain bad. Those good matches couldn't save the entire card and overall it's not a must watch, but is a very middle of the road event."

"I'm not leaving a rating because I only saw three matches. The tag title match was incredible and introduced the Steiners to Japan in the best way possible. Muta and Sting was good but nothing different from their usual. Not a huge fan of the main event personally because Flair doesn't have the same star quality in Japan and the two referees thing was awful."

[7.0] "Starrcade comes to the Tokyo Dome, and in my opinion it produced really good results overall. Hell, the Tokyo Dome even brought the best I've seen out of El Gigante; maybe that place truly is magical. My favourite match of the night was the IWGP tag title match. Easily the weakest match of the night was Scott Norton vs The Equalizer; that match was awful. I thought this was a pretty fun show, and an easy watch."

[7.0] "This event was a good one. The Steiners match was the best one. Fujinami/Flair was ok and Sting/Muta was good. Looking forward to Superbrawl in my chronological rewatch of WCW's big events. Two more Japan Supershows as well should be a good time down the road."
