108.03.2025ElNiniOM4.0Apart from three decent matches, the show was pretty bad. The WWE Network version may have cut certain parts, but the boredom was palpable. The huge Toronto crowd was not fooled by this, and was only involved in the most interesting matches. The main event is more interesting for the emotions it conveys and its connection with the crowd than for its passable in-ring quality. In-ring quality: 2.5/5. Non-match angles and segments: 0/3. Bonus/Malus: Too many useless or almost useless matches -0.5. Total: 4/10. Show seen on WWE Network.
228.02.2025JacquesRougeauCanHaveMyWife4.0The view, the setting, and the atmosphere were absolutely incredible - watching this sea of fans in every match was an amazing experience. But wrestling-wise, there was a lot left to be desired. So many weak finishes, squashes with questionable work, and even a surprisingly lukewarm crowd at times. And when they did decide to give some guys more time, they picked Haku and Muraco of all people. That said, there was still some good stuff. The opener with Jesse Barr randomly working as a Funk was fun, and The Rougeaus vs The Dream Team was solid, though the referee's work there was horrendous. The best match was easily Steamboat vs Roberts, a fantastic brawl that was made even better by the stadium atmosphere. Then came the main event, the match everyone came to see. The crowd was loud, Orndorff was a great heel, and Hogan had them in the palm of his hand - but the finish was just bad. A DQ ending that got barely any reaction was a poor way to send fans home. A real shame, because they could have ended things on a much stronger note.
423.01.2025Smi-484.0"The second major WWF event in 1986 takes place in front of a mighty crowd, but only with modest stylistic means. With eleven matches in just under two hours, the card is rather bloated in typical 80s style, and so there can only be a series of pipe-breakers, such as the matches involving Ted Arcidi, the Machines, Dick Slater or Harley Race. At the other end of the scale are the mediocre mid-range brawls, of which Haku vs. Muraco and Roberts vs. Steamboat are the two that stand out positively, but without being noticeably good in any way. The main event is then the obligatory Hogan scenario, whereby the back door is left open to continue the feud against Orndorff via disqualification. Nowadays, the show wouldn't win anything, but for the time and in this atmosphere, it's still just about good enough both on site and on TV.
508.12.2024KingsCrossing6.0This card is a little tricky to rate, as a lot of it is very unimpressive, but the three biggest matches that people actually cared about all delivered. Even in the case of the matches that weren't good, they don't really drag the show down all that much since the version available on the WWE Network clips all of the less significant matches anyway. The show is just under 2 hours, which makes it pretty easy to watch regardless of the weaker bouts, but you can pretty safely skip ahead to Steamboat vs. Roberts and be assured that you're missing nothing. The main event finish is disappointing, but the atmosphere is great, and the top three matches were all better than the majority of what you'd find in the WWF around this time, so I think it's fair to give this show a low end positive rating, even if I don't think it's worth watching in full.
615.09.2024SpecialAgentCooper4.0The Big Event suffers from a mediocre title defense main event and a mostly terrible undercard. There are a couple quick bright spots: The Roberts/Steamboat match is quite good, as one would expect. The tag match between the Rougeaus and The Dream Team is very solid, too... mostly because the athletic Rougeaus carry the match so well. Besides the very so-so main event and those bouts, you are mostly looking at a couple mediocre matches and a big handful of outright terrible and lazy sub-5 minute affairs, and a horrific 20 minute time limit draw catastrophe. The main highlight of the show is absolutely the Roberts/Steamboat match, as anyone who knows wrestling would expect just looking at the card. I did get a big kick out of Paul Orndorff entering the ring to "Real American." That's next level trolling for 80's wrestling. Orndorff and Hogan had decent ring chemistry, but the endgame booking was pretty lame here. The one-off Canadian "The Big Event" was a subpar overall show with a few decent moments.

926.10.2023Conquistador375.0I reviewed every match one can review on here, check em out if you like. First two matches were clip jobs and it ruined the tag match for me (ouch) but made the second contest at least not as offensive (zero and two respectably). Third match I can not rank on here, which is great because I would never ever recommend a Ted Arcidi match to anyone (this won't impact the overall but yah, you can skip it). Match 4 is unreviewable as well, no impact. Match 5 is another hackjob edit and I give it a ZERO. The 6 man match was fun big man action and moronic camp - I loved it and gave it a seven. Roberts vs Steamboat was solid and I enjoyed all of it (7.75). The Hercules/Haynes match was of interest from a ring conditioning perspective (4). The Dream Team/Rougeau encounter was handicapped by the referee (7.25). Next match is clipped and can't be reviewed and this will not impact the overall and life is probably better for it. Main Event was fun because Paul Orndorff basically ate Hogan alive (8). The average is 4.5 rounded up. If you skip this, I'd be ok with that. While there is some likable stuff here, the clipping killed off any additional potential, WWF shows did little for me until around WrestleMania 3.

1222.07.2023celticinvader6.0You know what, that was really fun in parts. Two very good matches with very good storylines, including the main event (the other being Steamboat v Jake), and a solid tag team match make up for the rest of the card. The crowd added so much to this, going crazy for Hogan and Steamboat.
1320.07.2023Rjepic17.0A hidden gem of an event that is kind of lost to time in the grand scheme of things. This one is not talked about a lot but has some really good to great matches on it. I was pumped to learn that this fun, big event happened in a Canadian landscape. Honestly my favourite WWF PPV/Event so far. An actual good main event, a great midcard match that steals the show in Steamboat/Roberts, and some other fun matches.

1612.03.2023CMFunk0077.0This card was mostly a win, with Steamboat/Roberts, Rougeaus/Dream Team, and Hogan/Orndorff carrying the show. The rest was filler or uninteresting. The crowd aesthetic really worked in its favor, taking place at the huge CNE Stadium and was a rarity for the WWF in that era to do stadium shows.

1925.03.2022Giantfan19806.0This show was like the precursor to SummerSlam. SummerSlam 86! Loved the stadium and the crowd! Some junk here but check out the Rougeaus/Dream Team and the Snake/Steamboat match and you can check out Hogan/Orndorff for historical purposes but everything else was forgettable.

2310.10.2021TigerDiver6.0First half of the show was totally skippable. The second half however, picked it up to a high note, with three very good-great matches in them. I do recommended the whole event though, cause of historical reasons and the atmosphere of the hot Canadian crowd.

2622.10.2018MAGICIAN3.0The Big Event war ne ziemliche Zwei-Match-Show.
2725.08.2018The Old School5.0A hard show to rate. Firstly it's really a house show, secondly some matches are very cuted. Overall a have a mixed reaction. Opener is just okay. Haku vs Murako is a nice match. Tad Arcidi has a terrible squash. Slater vs Sharpe is little better. There are some other meh to bad forgettable matches. Six man tag is alright. Steamboat vs Roberts is just a great match. Very vicious brawl especially for that time. Rougeaus vs Dream Team is surprisingly very long and this is another very good match. Main event isn't bad for Hogan's match. I believe WWF planned another Hogan vs Orndorff match at Mania III so it explains the ending.
2805.07.2018Mizzle Assault Ant7.0A whole lot to like about this event, I particularly recommend Haku/Muraco, the Heenan six man, Jake/Steamboat, Dream Team/Rougeaus, and most of all the main event, which is one of the best Hogan singles matches out there and the feud that drew the most fans ever to a single event before Andre/Hogan the year after, and with good reason. Not every match is good obviously, Arcidi and Billy Jack Haynes turn in stinker performances, but still I quite enjoyed this event overall.

3001.04.2018Gauntlet847.0Killer Bees vs. Hoss Funk/Jimmy Jack Funk) - 6/10 - Fan of Hoss Funk but the Jimmy Jack Funk gimmick is terrible. Haku vs. Muraco - 7/10 Ted Arcidi vs. Tony Garea - 6/10 - Not too familiar with either but Arcidi is imposing Junkyard Dog vs. Adrian Adonis - 7/10 Dick Slater vs. Iron Mike Sharpe - 4/10 - Sharpe is just terrible. Bundy/Studd/Heenan vs. Albano and the Machines - 7/10 - Nice just see Albano and Heenan in the ring. Ricky Steamboat vs. Jake Roberts - 8/10 - Very entertaining match between two legends Billy Jack Haynes vs. Hercules Hernandez - 6/10 Rougeau Brothers vs. Brutus Beefcake/Greg Valentine - 8/10, very entertaining but the ref was terrible. Harley Race vs. Pedro Morales - 5/10 - surprisingly boring match and Race is well past his prime by this point Hulk Hogan vs. Paul Orndorff - 7/10 - disappointing mostly just because of the finish.

3314.05.2016jackleone4.0The arena was full of people all around the ringside. Nice crowd for an event without any great matches. Hogan vs Orndorff is a disappointing main event, the feud was heated but it was just a step in their rivalry. Notable is Rude vs Steamboat, Snake Pit match, probably the best of the event. The tag team matches are okay, the rest consists in short fights. A Big Event only for the large crowd, not really for anything that happened.

3626.01.2016colonel4.0Erneut unterdurchschnittliche Show der WWF.
3709.06.2015DanTalksRasslin5.0The Big Event held the wrestling attendance record for several months, until WrestleMania III. While it didn't have any all-time classic matches like 'Mania III, there was still some good stuff here. Notably, the main event between Hogan and Orndorff was very good for a Hogan match of the era, the Roberts-Steamboat match was pretty good (though it could've stood to be longer), and the two tag matches were also worth seeing - Rougeaus vs. Beefcake/Valentine probably being match of the night; Bees vs. Funks was also decent. Also fun seeing a very young Haku working a totally different style than what you normally associate with him. Some of the rest seemed like definite filler, and unfortunately the show is only available in its clipped home video form (even on the WWE Network).

W. ). Gesamt: 5, 71.
