[5.0] "I've never been a big fan of 'tribute' shows compared to most wrestling fans. It seems that many view a tribute show as the de facto way to rate the wrestler being honoured, with the thought process being that if you believe the wrestler was a 10/10 then you *must* similarly rate their tribute show a 10/10, and if you think a tribute show was bad then you *must* think that wrestler was bad (and therefore you're a 'bad person'). To be clear: Eddie was a very good wrestler and performer, and his passing was a tragedy. Now that that's out of the way: this had some touching tributes but was very mediocre as a wrestling show. And while I get the significance of the tributes, I'm still a wrestling fan at the end of the day, and I need my wrestling show to have good wrestling (or at least wrestling-storyline segments) for me to consider it a good show. Aside from Vince's opening address and the pre-recorded tributes/highlights throughout the night, this honestly felt like it had a "the show must go on" approach instead of being a cohesive tribute to Eddie, with the main goal in mind clearly being to continue the Raw-vs-Smackdown build to Survivor Series as was intended before everything happened. And I get that the show indeed must "go on" at some point, but then I can't just consider this one of the greatest wrestling shows ever simply because of those tribute segments, since their emotional pull is completely detached from the fictional world of wrestling and instead centred around a real-life tragedy. Kane & Big Show vs MNM was decent for its time, presenting a fun mix of both styles and characters with the destructive monsters vs the arrogant wannabe celebrities. I would've liked more of this. TS;NR (too short; no rating). Angle vs Shelton was alright, with nice intensity and chemistry the whole way. Angle using his aggression to counter Shelton's superior athleticism was a cool idea, with Shelton selling that offence really well and then being really slick in his comeback. I did still have some moderate issues, such as Shelton's generic crowd-appeals, Angle audibly spot-calling the entire time, both guys not selling the effects of the other's big moves significantly enough, and then the match's pre-mature ending, but this was still fun enough for being so short. ***. HBK vs Mysterio was also alright. It had a decent enough story of the larger and more aggressive HBK against the smaller and flashier Mysterio. Unfortunately, neither guy got to play their roles compellingly, as HBK lacked proper intensity and urgency and then came off rather comical with his overselling, while Mysterio often solely focussed on his in-ring spots without taking time to properly elicit sympathy with his selling or display fire in his comebacks. They still had some exchanges and spots that were well put together, but it always felt like they were both doing the bare minimum. ***. From here, the wrestling became wholly forgettable and lost any real connection to Eddie that the previous matches at least somewhat reflected. The Divas battle royal was a complete waste of time. Battle royals are inherently weak because they always devolve into a mess of bodies, and this was no different. Then you add the WWE divas with their near-zero wrestling skills and you have something even worse. Seriously, why is this here? TS;NR. Eugene vs Dean was a clash of two bad characters, with both of them going back and forth with their awful character work and limited wrestling skills. Awful stuff but thankfully short. Again, why give us a match like this? Especially on what is meant to be a tribute show? TS;NR. Flair vs Regal was fun, but it was yet another weirdly short match. We got some nice grappling work and bruising strike exchange that had that old-school feel of intensity and strategy, which was lovely. What a waste to end this so soon. They seriously couldn't have thrown out the Divas battle royal and the Eugene match to give this one more time? TS;NR. Cena vs Orton was yet another match that got barely any time, and it was weak on top of that. I liked the initial idea of Cena's power against Orton's underhanded tactics and aggressive control work, but then Cena did the very generic and cheesy 'fading babyface rallies' comeback sequence a la Hogan, and then Bob interfered for the DQ finish. Their chemistry wasn't even that good either. Again, how did this match accomplish anything? The only meaningful thing was Cena symbolically placing the WWE Heavyweight Title on his Eddie shirt in the post-match, but this particular match wasn't necessary for that. TS;NR. So by the end of this, we had some very touching tributes from the various wrestlers and personnel, but then we also had a bunch of mostly underdeveloped matches without any immediate connection to Eddie. I definitely think there would've been better ways to pay tribute to Eddie in the ring, namely by having at least one big match that featured his most well-known friends and rivals facing off in some way, sort of like how WCW did Benoit vs Bret in honour of Owen. Something like Mysterio, Chavo, and Benoit vs Angle, Edge, and JBL, just off the top of my head. Have the babyfaces go over, while throwing in a handful of Eddie tribute spots on both sides. It would've have kayfabe justification for these wrestlers wanting to honour their friend/rival, and the crowd would've loved it. That would've been a lot more meaningful than just Mysterio and Angle having short and merely okay matches against random wrestlers (while never meaningfully referencing Eddie) plus a random bunch of other matches (including that awful Divas battle royal, the awful Eugene vs Dean, and the Cena match that ends in DQ after only 3 minutes). While the tributes themselves were obviously very moving, the wrestling itself was a massive missed opportunity for an even more powerful show. I don't think it's radical to say good wrestling would've been the best way to honour Eddie."

[9.0] "Kane and Big Show vs MNM was a good match it wasn't one worse matches under 3 minutes. It was good. It was comedic. Big show kissing Melina was funny."

[7.0] "As like smackdown but this was little underwhelming for the whole episode not for the tribute, the tribute on both nights were awesome always and forever will be memorable , too many not needed matches with most of them were like squashes"

[6.0] "I was here for Cena vs Randy matches before Backlash but stayed for for the tribute. This might be the most purest show WWE in Vince's regime. Surprisingly, this tribute show had the first televised Cena vs Randy singles match. A 3 minute match that ended in a disqualification, cause why not."

[8.0] "very good, very emotional show. In terms of show content, it's just a weeklie exhibition. No advanced story or construction."

[9.0] "Tribute shows are always an emotional watch and rating. This one for Eddie Guerrero is one of the best, and one of my most rewatched episodes of Raw. In terms of the tributes, they are emotional, true and difficult to watch. Some beautiful words to hear. The quality of wrestling is also high. Opening tag match is standard but effective in setting the scene. The next two bouts are the highlights, with Rey Mysterio & Shawn Michaels putting on a dream match scenario and a great performance. The "diva" battle royale is at to be expected in this era and the final three matches all go less than four minutes. The main event decision to go for a DQ finish is a strange call on a night like this but given there were no storylines it protects everyone. RIP Eddie Guerrero."

"Overall a very beautiful tribute show with incredibly heartfelt stories and beautiful matches that Eddie would be proud to see. Big Show & Kane vs MNM: 5/10, an overall pretty good tag match but nothing crazy special about it. Shelton Benjamin vs. Kurt Angle: 7/10, These two went out and put on an amazing performance and would highly recommend watching this match. Mysterio vs HBK: 8/10: With the standards set high after the Angle vs Benjamin match, these two somehow blew it out of the park and had the match of the night and my rating could easily shift to a 9 if I had probably watched it at a different time Diva Battle Royal: 6/10, These women all showed respect to Eddie and had a lot of storytelling in the battle royal. Even though they were mainly used for eye candy at this time they were showing almost weekly that they deserved the respect of any other wrestlers. Eugene vs. Dean: 5/10 it was an okay match wasnt good but also I am just not a fan of Eugenes antics Flair vs. Regal: 6/10, A great match from these two and they really did the cheater vs. cheater well. Eddie would be proud of the tactics used by both the men in this match Cena vs Orton: 4/10, It was good until the DQ and it seems like it wasnt used to push any story farther with that so I just cant rate this higher than a 4 In quality matches the average is 5.8 but the beauty of Eddies tribute and heart and love everyone shows this tribute will always be a 10"

[6.0] "Very hard to rate this show of course given it is a tribute show. All the tributes are classy, emotional and well handled, making the show a success. Shawn vs Rey and Angle vs Benjamin are two really good tv matches but the rest of the show is strangely booked and underwhelming. Like I said extremely difficult to rate and a show which is not about the wrestling, so take this rating as completely arbitrary. RIP Eddie."
