| 1 | 09.08.2018 | Paul Allain | 4.0 | The first of round of the 2009 Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup is quite strange indeed, both a series of unmemorable matches that indistinctly blend together, yet at the same time vastly differing in style and level of interest. Fontaine/Lyndon is an ideal opener, very fun but not as explosive and scintillating as I had hoped. Jones/Gargano feels febrile, nervous and sloppy, as two young wrestlers are thrown way over their head. Silas/Cole is more streamlined, as Silas Young guides his opponent through a steady match. Moxley/Attitude had to reconciliate the charisma and energy of Jon Moxley with the general bland apathy felt exuding Brad Attitude, making for an average match that had the good sense of picking the right winner. Kendrick/Hollister was the most fast-paced and high-flying match of the show, quite fun but with an ordinary finish. Cannon/TJP was dominated by Perkins's offense, making it fast-paced but also hard to swallow and a bit pretentious. Vortekz/Ego fairly represented the chaotic high-risk nature of CZW without going overboard on ultraviolence. Richards/Younger was an intense champion vs champion main event, but both men's idiosyncracies were on full display and glaringly noticeable through their excesses. In the end, this show is a mish-mash of good and bad, often leaving a lot of talent on the table, but it made the most of a somewhat limited pool of talent. |

Sapolsky als Booker hat hier finde ich einen wirklich guten Job gemacht vom Ablauf und die Teilnehmer gaben wirklich ihr Bestes, um die Show gut zu machen. Der Opener ist noch etwas holperig (*3/4). Gargano könnte ich mir sonst auch mal im Team mit Rhett Titus vorstellen und sein Match gegen Jones war ordentlich (**). Mein Favourite Young vs Cole war ein sehr gutes Match, geführt von Young, der soviel mehr Exposure braucht (**1/4). Moxley mit dem Junkie Gimmick hat mir gut gefallen in seiner Ungewöhnlichkeit. Attitude passte gut dazu (**1/2). Kendrick ist wirklich der Flippy Guy, Hollister ganz solide - ordentliches Match (**). TJ Perkins ist soooo klasse, ich liebe Cannon - gut, aber hätte auch besser sein können (**1/2). Ego vs Vortekz gutes motiviertes Spotfest (**) und am Ende das Match of the Night: Younger vs Mr. Intensity, der mir immer gefällt. Younger hier mit einer Performance wie bei 16 Carat.
