[6.0] "It's not a must-see show, neither is it really that good, but something strange is happening in New Japan right now. Wrestlers are fighting like they mean it. Grudges are popping up all over the place, tension is boiling, and several divisions seem to have a new lease on life. There's actually story taking place throughout these shows. We've even had a few good matches on these usually throw away Road to events. Is this the full-time President Tanahashi effect? I hope it's not a coincidence. The main event will probably annoy a lot of people, and it's not a patch on the main event of the prior night, but I thought it was mostly okay due to a lively crowd and found this show and Day 1 to be unusually watchable for Road to shows. Something still needs to be done about the Junior Heavyweight title scene, and Umino is still chasing that ABDL demo, but other than that, New Japan might actually be showing signs of escaping some of its stagnation from the past few years."
[3.0] "The lowcard was passable although it had nothing special to watch except for Jake Lee finally talking again. Tag titles match was the best of the night and main event was a total disaster that ruins the whole show."
[6.0] "A weak main event that just could never really get going because of the four house guys ringside. Also OSKAR blasting Hontai for letting Despy take everyone on alone was funny. JR tag title match was pretty good. Murshima looking good for the final in the Young lion cup. Also Yuto's pin on Matsumoto was hilarious"
[4.0] "Aside from the Young Lion Cup matches and a fun little Knock Out Brothers tag squash there's very little to recommend on this card. The main event was a dud and left a bad taste in my mouth. Quite the massive drop off in quality from the unexpectedly great first night of this tour."
[5.0] "A day built around House Of Shit matches, the Young Lions tournament and filler, everything that could go wrong did go wrong, and that's my whole summary of it. It was a weak show."
[5.0] "NJPW kicked off the year in great form with three excellent main events in a row. Had they done without the shenanigans here or even just limited them, DOUKI & Despe are well & truly capable of having delivered a fourth great main event in a row. Unfortunately, things didn't go that way. Instead, we got a pretty standard card with a solid co-main and a poor main event. A shame. **1/2."
[5.0] "[5.0] NJPW's Road to New Beginning Night 2 ends up being a huge disappointment. With some of the matches on the card you'd expect this to be a somewhat good show. DOUKI vs. Desperado as the main event was a huge mistake since they didn't book it correctly and the promo after left a lot to be desired. The Young Lion Cup finals shape up as Shoma Kato will take on Katsuya Murashima which I am excited for! The UE vs. Unbound Co. tag match was decent and somewhat interesting with the focus on Takagi's injury and Lee getting the pin. The words exchanged with Lee and Tsuji hyped up the match well. The MOTN was the Junior Heavyweight Tag Title match which was fun! I didn't like KO Brothers vs. Matsumoto & Umino. Why would you make one half of your #1 contenders look so weak the day after they won it? Overall, the card was a bit bland and left us with something to desire."
