The Rumble was lots of fun with some good genuine surprises - Joe Clean getting the call as #1 entrant as he was cleaning the ring pre-match was fun, and I didn't expect to see Gangrel or Meanie and *definitely* didn't expect to see David Arquette of all people. Holliday weaseling his way to regain the title after it was vacated due to Cardona going to WWE was, I think, the best (if most obvious) outcome. The feud between Sent2Slaughter and local heroes (and promotions owners) The NOW continued with a six-man that was decent but not as good as their ladder match at the last show, but the crowd was red-hot for it and when the heels won, they proceeded to fill the ring with trash like it was Hogan turning heel at Bash at the Beach '96. Mike Santana vs surprise opponent Nic Nemeth was a good substitute for the apparently-cursed planned main event that never happened (it was supposed to be double-title between Santana and Cardona, but Santana lost his TNA belt in short order, and then Cardona went back to WWE and vacated the ACW belt, all before the match could happen). The rest of the card was solid although some of it seemed a bit time-crunched to make sure there was enough time for the Rumble (Hartwell vs Blackheart seemed to especially suffer from time being cut). Good show and an awesome wrestling night out. |
