[8.0] "It was a good enough start for the tournament. The best match was the main event as i think everyone expected and it was very good. But maybe the most impressive result was the win of Taichi and Kojima over Bishamon."

[6.0] "A solid start full of normal matches and some miss steps but luckly it was capped off by a great main-event. ***"

[6.0] "For the opening night of World Tag League this was average across the board until the main event which was the best match on the card. Ren Narita, SANADA & Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs Alex Zayne, Lance Archer & Zane Jay: A fine opening match with nothing to it, good to see Zayne and Archer back in NJPW, nothing memorable happened in this one [*3/4]. Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr vs Callum Newman, Great O-Khan & Jakob Austin Young: This was a solid undercard preview multi man match, Newman looked solid in this one, TMDK trio getting the win was not surprising to see [**1/2]. Shoma Kato, Shota Umino & Yuya Uemura vs El Phantasmo, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Katsuya Murashima: Some interesting exchanges between ELP and Umino, Murashima seems to be finding his fire within the ring more, a solid overall preview multi man match [***]. David Finlay, Gedo & Hiromu Takahashi vs Daiki Nagai, OSKAR & Yuto-Ice: While it had its fun moments, overall it did seem underwhelming especially with the just 6 minutes they had, Hiromu and Finlay teaming up still seems intriguing [**]. Boltin Oleg & Toru Yano vs El Desperado & Shuji Ishikawa: A mediocre match that had not much about it, it seemed to drag on at times, the ending was not a good way to go [**]. Don Fale & EVIL vs Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi: Terrible match! Not surprising given House Of Torture were involved completely in this tag team match within WTL [DUD]. Satoshi Kojima & Taichi vs Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI: Interesting pairing of Kojima and Taichi which time will tell if they work well together, YH and Goto showed their tag team experience with some good tag team work, Taichi and Kojima winning was a surprise [***]. Drilla Moloney & Shingo Takagi vs Gabe Kidd & Yota Tsuji: Interesting main event on this card with two interesting pairings in the tournament, they did what they needed to and that was give the Korakuen Hall crowd a hell of a main event to close the show, brawling through the crowd and outside the ring was expected given who was involved [****1/4]"

[6.0] "Satisfactory opening night of the tour with a main event that is worth going out of your way to watch. The year feels fresher and more energetic than the last few WTLs. 6.5/10"

[7.0] "The opening night was alright, with two hits and two misses. Yano/Boltin vs Shuji/Despe (**.75): A serviceable Yano comedy match that never got to be that interesting. H.O.T vs H.O.T (.25): I don't recommend this. The finish was slightly entertaining, that's all. Kojima/Taichi vs Bishamon (****.25): This was a highly entertaining and fun match that showed Bishamon as the aggressors to the usual aggressive Taichi and Kojima, with Taichi's knee being the primary target. The finish surprised me, but I really enjoyed this. Shingo/Moloney vs Gabe/Tsuji (****.75): A highly entertaining and great main event, with all four guys going all out and giving it their all. Awesome stuff."
