[9.0] "This show didn't quite hit as strong as the last two but still an amazing experience. I love to see new things tried in wrestling. Both stories involved here were interesting and fun. Yuki getting the spotlight this time was a smart move. Watch this show."
[6.0] "I feel quite strange about a show like this. I appreciate how ambitious it is but all that for a 15 minute time limit draw of middling quality? At some point it's just not really a wrestling show anymore to me, it's some kind of weird experimental show with a bit of wrestling theme tacked onto it. I like out of the box wrestling stuff generally and this was not bad but it just didn't seem like a home run to me."
[10.0] "An incredibly campy fun silly show like last year. I read the dramaticddt summary as I was watching along and it helped me appreciate it more. Hype 2 improved on the production quality of Hype 1, and Hype 3 improves on that once again."
[6.0] "It may be hard to understand because they are using a translation function. I am Japanese, so I can understand what they are saying, but I don't know how much foreign fans understand and appreciate this show. It was the weakest of the past three shows. There were no surprises like Alice's heel turn and Aja Kong's appearance, and there was no scene where they monologue about past events like Raku and Mahiro. By the way, their acting skills are very poor. I love TJPW, but I honestly don't like these theatrical shows and outdoor athletic matches."
[10.0] "If the day ever comes when Hyper Misao produces an entire show or even a full federation, I'll follow her through every crazy idea she has. I loved this. At first, I didn't understand the purpose of the show, since Yuki didn't seem like the main protagonist--unlike Raku and Kiryu in previous versions. But the ending, with the fake close-up and the final twist along with that amazing match, completely changed my opinion. One of the best entertainment shows of the year."
[10.0] "This third edition of Hype! has roughly the same structure as the second one, essentially being a theatrical performance with some wrestling parts integrated to it, building up the story for a single match as the culmination. You have the familiar mix of comedy, emotion, and many references both to TJPW lore and pop culture (the theme here is gakuen anime mixed with extra terrestrial infiltration). The added value here come from the improved production (you can see they capitalized on the previous editions) and some clever twists with the story and narration. The extra diegetic elements are integrated perfectly, elevating the emotional stakes. And cherry on the top, the actual match is very good."
[9.0] "The Dramaticddt writeup is there (and got retweeted by Misao) if anyone wants a guide to what was happening in the story. It's another play wrapped up in a metanarrarive, this time they're doing a play about how pro wrestlers defeated an alien invasion making pro wrestling the number 1 career in the near future. All the while Misao and Aino have accidentally swapped minds and everyone is trying to keep the play going. It's wild stuff and definitely worth reading a summary to keep track."
[10.0] "Part sci-fi invasion, part high school drama, part shoujo romance, part mindswap plot, all suffused with heart and love of pro wrestling. The great match to top it off elevates it to the best hype show for me."
[10.0] "It's a hype show and by the third iteration you're going to know whether you're going to love this or not. I personally loved it, each one is so different and so special."
[10.0] "Once again, Misao continues to show why the audience, the viewers at home and her peers praise her creative mind. The 2 hours and 10 min show flew by. The chaotic nature of it, the story, the characters, the performance made the viewing experience so enticing to see. One of the many things I enjoy about these HYPE shows is getting to see who will be chosen as the main character and in this case it was Aino. You really get to know more about them and empathize with them. The main event was great too. It had me cheering on for Aino to win even though Misao is my favorite wrestler. Overall great show. I really hope Misao continues her produced show for years and years."
[10.0] "Another incredible hype show. The thing that impressses me is that each new one is more and more ambitious than the last. I can't wait for next year's."
[9.0] "Whenever I watch a HYPE show I'm reminded of an old Simpsons quote, "so you want a realistic, down to earth show... that completely off the wall and swarming with magic robots? " HYPE always managed to thread between those two so deftly with its absurdist storytelling meant to give more depth to midcard roster members. This time there was an alien invasion at a high school, Aino and Misao trading minds, and then a fantastic promo from Aino about how much she misses her sister being on the roster and how hard it's been wrestling without her. And then a fantastic main event match. These shows are the closest you get in the modern day to the craziness of Hustle or DDT's Muscle shows."
