[7.0] "After an eventful PPV from TNA, the spotlight was on Hendry & Trick, and through a back-and-forth war of words, they kicked off their rivalry on a strong note. Ricky & Hank/Tank's title defenses were cool, Karmen came back to square one, D'Angelo & Stacks went intense, and the main event was fantastic. Also, a lot of stories were built with a foundation that could get interesting soon. Even the foreshadowing of LFG prospects by The Undertaker felt intriguing. Overall, a solid start to build towards Battleground."
"Finally I gave in, and decided to give a shot to NXT. I mean, if I can find time for TNA (a godforsaken promotion with no direction, parasiting on its previous glory), what's stopping me from finding an hour a week for a show that some argue is as good as the Black and Gold era, the era I hold very dear to my heart. Well, I didn't watch a single match on this episode, as I was familiarizing myself with the ongoing storylines, and storylines they have. The Dark State, aka The Shield wannabes, are borderline corny but intriguing; The Tony D'Angelo and Channing Lorenzo segment felt like a scene from a Scorsese movie (the later has no bussiness being so good at acting so early in his career); No Quarter Catch Crew's deaf member is someone I really can see myself getting behind (the fact he made it to WWE is mind-blowing); The Chase University (whatever it is) segment was unexpectedly fun; I completely forgot Shawn Spears is in NXT (is he there as a wrestler or just as a talking head / producer / manager ? I mean, isn't he too old / experienced / established for NXT? ) Overall, the roster is full of bright and colorful characters with their own motivations and directions along - what seems like - thoughtful, elaborate, and meaningful storylines. No wonder the TNA Champion prefers to hang out more here than on Impact."
[6.0] "The two tag matches saved this show, but otherwise it's almost all unnecessary, everything involving DarkState generates tremendous disinterest in me and the long-awaited confrontation between Stacks and Tony was very disappointing"
[7.0] "Joe Hendry's opening promo was decent, and Dark State attacking him is interesting. Opener was the dictionary definition of fine (6). The Culling do nothing for me. Tony D and Stacks segment was okay. Tony D just hasn't progressed as much as he should have in the lengthy time he's been in NXT and I worry about his future. Sol and Karmen didn't stick around long enough to leave an impression other than how little I care for Ashante, who's another I'd worry about the future of if I cared. Trick segment was okay - I'm enjoying the heel turn of his but it feels like he's spinning his wheels a bit until he gets called up. Undertaker appearing just to promote LFG was a sad sight but we'll see if the 3 guys he introduced can amount to anything in NXT. Tag match was fun (7) and a solid first defense for the team. Not sure what's going on with NQCC, which is concerning for me as I'm a big fan of the Heights/Borne tag team. Chase U being back makes very little sense but what the hell, the segments are fun. Main event was really good (8) and a lot of fun. Excellent TV main event. Iyo remains the best. Overall a 7, last two matches were good and great but the first half of the show... Nothing stood out."
[5.0] "Saved by the tag matches. Joe and Trick promos were uninspired, the opener was mid at best, Sol vs Karmen was kind of good but too short, and I have absolutely no interest in her drama with Ashante, neither with the family storyline. Pretty boring first half. The male's tag match was fun and the women's was great. The best part of the show. I'm not a fan of the pairing beetween Rox and Giulia ignoring everything that happened beetween them but I guess that's more fault of the main roster booking and NXT had to adapt. People in the crowd doing the ? with Iyo is amazing."
[10.0] "From top to bottom this was a fucking great episode of NXT, definitely one of the best. I loved the opening segment featuring Joe Hendry, who called out Trick Williams for his sneak attack at TNA Rebellion. This confrontation was followed by another attack, this time from Darkstate, which set the stage for an exciting Six-Man Tag Team match next week. Joe Hendry will be teaming up with Hank and Tank to face three members of Darkstate. Speaking of Hank and Tank, their recent Tag Team Championship match against Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura was truly remarkable. They successfully convinced me that Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura were poised to be crowned the new NXT Tag Team Champions. To whomever is responsible for Hank and Tank's booking are doing a hell of a job. This episode really moved a lot of storylines forward and showcased just how amazing the NXT Performance Center crowd is. I always feel let down when NXT goes to different locations because sometimes the crowd in those places just doesn't engage during the matches. If I had my way, I'd keep NXT at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando."
[5.0] "I just don't understand the ratings of these shows. If I had watched nothing but the main event of this show I would have lost absolutely nothing and gained and hour and forty five minutes of my life back. Badly performed backstage promos, badly performed in ring promos, badly paced matches heavily interrupted by ad breaks. The opening match was boring, sol's match lasted less time than it takes to cook a slice of toast and yet was somehow content light, the various promos were just so overly scripted and bland. The two tag matches at the end represented a step up in quality, more so the women's tag. But by and large this show is boring and badly produced. The constantly high ratings are baffling and I always hate yucking someone's yum. 5/10 purely on the strength of that main event."
[8.0] "NXT will never disappoint me, it has a good blend of experience and newer talent that makes it work with credible booking. I really hope that the upcoming Draft doesn't affect this much, but I'm not too afraid about that since Evolve has excellent talent too, while working relations with TNA and AAA, mixed with Shawn's booking, this machine would continue to churn with talent. As for this, another good show with a strong main event and build for the next week and Battleground 2 weeks after."
[9.0] "A very good, strong episode of NXT. Darkstate made their presence known by attacking the TNA Champion Joe Hendry. We saw two title matches that were pretty solid. And in the Main Event, we saw an amazing Tag Team Match by the women. NXT has been very good this year, the women have been carrying the shows, and the tag division. The Men's Division needs a lot of work for the future."
[9.0] "A great show overall, with one of my favourite tag TV matches of the year, and some solid title defenses with strong build to Battleground while having some strong cameos from Joe Hendry and Undertaker to boost the morale."
[8.0] "NXT was on track to be forgettable this week, not bad, just middling, with a few bright spots. Then that main event slapped so hard it retroactively made the whole show better. It's absolutely the only match you need to see, but hey, the rest was harmless enough too."
"Solid episode with a few strong matches and some weird moments. Trick's story is heating up, but the direction's still unclear. Sol Ruca impressed again, DarkState keeps rolling, and we might be heading toward a shift in the women's tag and Chase U scenes. The show had good energy, even if not everything landed -- next week looks even more stacked. ?"
