[7.0] "Besides the two playoff matches most of the preview matches are pretty skippable. Yota and Shota did a good job being the main event even if they got ever so slightly outshined"

[5.0] "Well, the main-event was great but the undercard was unwatchable and the two main-matches -even though they were both good- were too slow for what happened before. Especially, I think that Takeshita vs Finlay should have had the duty to change the pacing from the lower card. **1/2"

[8.0] "Preview matches were cool as always, but the Playoff matches definitely delivered. Take/Finlay should've been the main event though, as i feel like the crowd was way more into this match compared to the actual main event, and it was also better performance-wise. I feel like i wanted more from the match, 17 minutes are not enough for the chemistry that these two people have, i really want to see a rematch in the future. The main event was good, Tsuji fighting for his damn life to make this match entertaining. Shota to me is very hit or miss nowadays, and tonight wasn't my favourite performance of his. Yota shows once again that he is ready to be THAT GUY."

[8.0] "You don't come to the seventeenth day of the G1 Climax to watch the also-rans battle it out in the undercard, although the undercard matches were, as always, inoffensive if perfunctory; you come to see the two playoff matches. So the question is: were the matches good enough to warrant a good rating? And the answer is: yes. Match of the Tournament candidate in Takeshita/FInlay, and Tsuji/Umino more than kept up its own end of the bargain."

[8.0] "Very good show. The undercard tags were pretty forgettable but did not overstay their welcome and the main and semi-main were both great. Takeshita vs Finlay is my match of the tournament and is among the best NJPW matches this year. I'm hoping the next two nights are this good. 8.5/10"
